As a new watch enthusiast I'm learning the different terminology and history of different watch makers. The moon phase has been something I was not able to figure out till i saw your video. I have subscribed to your channel because it looks like you have a lot of "how to" videos which will be very helpful to me. Thanks for the great content!
I have a wonderful Blancpain moonphase watch which also tells the day and date. The moon dial is beautiful and I enjoy comparing the full moon on the watch to the full moon in the sky.
This is great always wondered how to set these things. Also just gonna throw this out there. You should consider circle frame glasses. They’ll fit your eyes and face way better
You have got to appreciate these technical videos from C&C, informative and nicely done. It's too bad it has gone to the crapper since it got bought out by Hodinkee.
Note: not all moonphase complications function this way! With mine, the moonphase and the date change simultaneously at midnight. So I can simply set the date and the moonphase according to the current date, no need to start from a day earlier
I’ve been setting it incorrectly for many of moons...! Just pressed until it got to the right phase. 6:30 pm( I assume) and One day before...! Hope the Breguet, AL&S, PP and Zenith weren’t damaged...!!!!
Hey MCC Le chinois, Correct. 6:30 is best practice as to not damage any of the complication, and one day before allows you to make sure date, moonphsae and AM/PM are synchronized. Thanks for watching!
@@CrownandCaliber I own the JLC MUT Moon Phase in rose gold, which is the same model JLC as shown in the video. Nowhere in the owner's manual does it suggest setting the watch to 6:30 before setting the moon phase. No big deal as I don't bother to set both the date, which I can't read without a magnifying glass, or the moon phase anyway as I don't want to risk scratching the watch. It's important to me to have a moon phase but it doesn't have to be an *accurate* moon phase. If I want accurate, I'll just look up at night, lol.
@@downingbethune8758 And what about the hour & mn ? Do you glance at your phone to get the exact time ? Congrats though for your choice : the JLC Ultra Thin Moon phase is my dream watch !
My moonphase stopped moving, i changed the time while it was at 2am once and since then the moonohasr hasn't moved. If someone knkws what i have to do please let me know.
So what should one do in a month like February? If I advance the date by 3 days at the beginning of March, that will’ ve also advanced the moon phase by three days which isn’t desirable. Same thing for months with only 30 days, just 1/3 as bad.
Unless the watch is: a "perpetual calendar (way complicated, and thus expensive)", or an "annual calendar (not to be confused with "triple calendar"), otherwise, they don't. The user have to manually advance the date in such case of months with 30 days (or less).
Its really complicate to adjust date time and also phase.... At the same time..... Just look at the phase on calendar or internet!...... ....i prefer simple watch.... Thx anyway for sharing..
