This video is a how-to guide on setting the pointers (needles) on a 1999 to 2002 GM instrument cluster. This would include trucks and SUVs such as the Chevy Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon, Sierra. Viewer requested video.
Pulled the speedometer motor out of my 97 blazer cluster and forgot to look at the orientation. The board attaches directly to the speed/odom, and the board has 1-4 for speedometer. Seems to be able to go back in 2 different directions for pin out...Any help on correct orientation. Back of can has a 3 on it. The odometer has A+/A- and B+/B- so that's not help...
What if you have them air motors , and the gauge just stopped working or didn’t work at all when you got the vehicle. Could it be the board or the grease in them?
I replaced the gas gage. Fill the tank. Then plugged in the cluster with the front off. Started the car and put the pointer on full. When I shut it off it goes down to the bottom right. What did I do wrong? Thanks!
Great video, I'm adding trans temp. Using ipc hammer. I was going to use parts from another cluster. What would keep you from using stepper motors as replacments?
I have a question so my lil pressure gauge was out so I changed my oil stepper motor and when I put it back together I put the needle to zero and when I go to turn the key but not turn the engine the needle goes past the 80 and stays there and won’t go back to zero
I may be a little slow but I have 99 Tahoe obs. I want to calibrate the gas gauge and I’m trying not to spend the money to fill up my tank. I notice you powered the board. Does that automatically set it to a home position?
Hi I am currently working on my brothers 2001 Silverado cluster thanks to your videos I was able to fix display I got a cluster plug from local junkyard to make my own bench tester but I need your help I got everything to work except lightbulbs. Can you please tell me what to do to get all cluster lightbulbs on. By using home made bench tester. If possible
Ok so I tried this with my sons truck because his speedo needle was way off.. had it powered up just like you did and noticed when I powered it down it fell way under zero and is again off by 12mph ..
I have 2002 3500 dually gas and the cluster is going little giggly and some of the needles are bouncing can u fix it how much would it be or were can I contact u ?
Wow! you were not even close to being on point. The majority of gauge fails is the FUEL gauge. so you show the Speedometer? Really? Also you were all over the place. Try not to be on something that speeds you up, caffeine or whatever. LOL You were using 13.4 or 13.5 volts vice 14. So for the DIY crowd what should it be? charged batt should be around 13.5 initial or when engine running/alternator 13.5 to 14 volts. Some helpful info you did give was the needle positions with key on.
