Very helpful. I am building my truck up a little more to definitely give sled pulling a try. I don’t quite know all the classes yet and which I should be adjusting my truck for but videos like these help a ton. love the truck and great vid thanks

Great video! Getting excited to pull this year. Do you play with tire pressure at all or run it about what you run on the street?
@FixedVaneDuramax
@FixedVaneDuramax 2 года назад
Cheers! I generally run my back tires at 55-60 psi where they are at on the street, and lower the front tires down to around 30 psi.

What do you do for air pressure in the front and rear?
@FixedVaneDuramax

Depends on the track quality really, but generally I lower the rear to 45psi or so, and the fronts to 30-35psi

Mine’s not all Kryptonite besides the tie rods. I have an Empire Straight Centerlink, and PPE pitman/idler arm supports.

Hey looking to buy my first diesel and it’s a lb7, would you recommend with its injector problems or save up for lbz.
@FixedVaneDuramax
@FixedVaneDuramax 2 года назад
Thats really personal preference, injectors are of course a shot to your wallet but other than that they are just as reliable and great as an LBZ for the most part. The lbz trucks other great feature is the 6 speed transmission vs the LB7's 5 speed. Plus they are a few years newer so they are just a little bit further advanced on comforts and technology. But all that comes at a price so it comes down to what you're willing to pay for. But having done an injector job myself I wouldn't be scared of any lb7.

Are you running a stock transfer case? Have you had it on a dyno?
@FixedVaneDuramax
@FixedVaneDuramax 2 года назад
I am running a stock transfer case, however it has been rebuilt with new shift forks and liners, as well as a pump rub kit. Also have a brace between the transmission and transfercase. I have unfortunately not gotten the truck on a dyno with the current 64mm, 12mm pump and 60 overs, hopefully will change that soon or at least get some dragstrip numbers. Best guess is somewhere between 600-650hp, pry closer to the 600 mark.

I've been meaning to ask for a while, what kind of egt do see during a pull?
@FixedVaneDuramax
@FixedVaneDuramax 2 года назад
Honestly, I am not sure. I've been meaning to take a good data log this entire summer and generally during the pull itself I am not watching the CTS. However, on the street, pulling hard I can see EGTs in the 1700-1900F range momentarily. The small drop-in charger exhaust housing is the bottleneck at the moment.

@@FixedVaneDuramax at the moment...? Do I sense a change in the future; s300, twins?
@FixedVaneDuramax
@FixedVaneDuramax 2 года назад
Yeah we will see! At the end of the day, a 64mm drop-in charger isn't going to stack up with purpose built Workstock pulling trucks. So, I have to decide what the best path forward is. Either a larger drop in like a 67.7 or 68mm capable of high 700 or low 800 hp, or go to a s300 frame charger. Twins would be great but if I care to keep sledpulling that kicks me out of every class except some different open or hot street classes.

What kind of front locker do you have?????
@FixedVaneDuramax
@FixedVaneDuramax Год назад
I have an Eaton E-locker in the front of this truck. Unfortunately they are not made anymore, but they are fantastic as there is no need for onboard air.

Do you pull in street class with suspension stops? And sled stops?
@FixedVaneDuramax

Yes, that’s totally area and class dependent if those items are allowed or not but around Central IL I’ve never had to remove them.

Sticky track I come out hard as I can about 3500RPMs 4th gear start I lock up probably 5’ off the line with this new setup now loose tracks I’m learning to come out softer about 2800-3000rpms roll out about 10’ then flat foot it and lockup pretty much a second or two after that. You should think about a third gear start eliminating that 2 3 shift you would gain from it.
@FixedVaneDuramax
@FixedVaneDuramax 2 года назад
That's definitely a good thought, the truck has plenty of power to use 3rd from the line and currently I'm leaving some early wheel speed on the table. I have been allowing my tow haul to lock the converter assumedly in 2nd but there is no reason I shouldn't be commanding it early with a 3rd gear start.
@Reedic20

@@FixedVaneDuramax I was running a stock turbo with 33’s and 3:73s doing a 3rd gear start back in the day. But lots have changed since then spent lots more money and it got out of hand a little lol but I’m surprised we haven’t crossed paths yet at one of these pulls somewhere definitely if we do and you recognize my pull truck come over and introduce yourself I will do the same if it does happen but if you haven’t seen any of my pulls I have some videos on my channel from stock to current the videos are short and nothing like your content great job on the videos by the way. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3zOwnFthjcE.html
