Rescan button is so important. I can't tell you how many times I've had people looking for plugins and it simply needed the rescan button pressed.

Great video for setup but what are the steps to get computer A back on track after a fail. Tanks

On a smaller scale, how would one go about having live instruments as well as playback stems go through IEM? Something like the PlayAudio is great but it doesn’t have inputs/preamps.

can life sine still be a failover for the songs in the set that are NOT playback or co-exist with them? like some songs i have a percussion playback track but most songs im just triggering different Drum Racks with a midi keyboard

Questions...Should life sine be working on both computers?....how does Ableton know where to pickup in the session where computer A failed?....what connects both Ableton sessions to each other?

LifeSine is only needed on your primary machine (A). You need to have both computers connected to the interface and running the same session. The interface itself essentially connects the ableton sessions "to each other" (they're not really connected to each other, but they are running in parallel). In order to keep them completely in sync, you need to use the USB host port on the front of the interface to connect a controller. This sends the MIDI to both connected computers. Just make sure Ableton on both machines is recognizing the MIDI controller. From there, you just MIDI map the controls simultaneously, so that when you press play on the controller, it starts playback on both the A and B machines simultaneously. Hope that helps.

Not sure if this is the place to ask this, but I've been looking to setup a redundant keyboard rig with 2 mainstage computers. The playaudio1u seems perfect for this, however: I also want to use some hardware synths that outputs into mainstage aswell (I need inputs in the audio interface, that goes to both mainstage computers, and then I can mix software synths with hardware). Since the playaudio1u doesn't have any audio-inputs, how would I achieve this? I hope you'll understand what I'm trying to convey here lol.

i would use this for output, and a seperate interface for inputs

@@fromstudiotostage Gotcha. Can you connect that interface to the usb host on the iconnectivity device, or is that made for midi?

@@12349370the usb host port is just for MIDI. I'm in the same scenario and the iConnectivity audio4+ or newer audio4c is probably what you need. It allows you to send it's inputs to 2 computers simultaneously. You'll want to make an aggregate audio device for both interfaces in macOS. Unfortunately it doesn't allow using its outputs in a redundant way (at least not by default)

Hi Will. What if ableton on computer A Freezes and the tone keeps running? Am I right that PA1 won’t auto switch then? Regards Paolo

if the tone is coming from ableton then it will switch over to B. If the tone is coming from another program-which it shouldn't.. it wont

thanx, but what I mean is, if ableton freezes, but Lifesine keeps generating a tone, will it still switch? @@fromstudiotostage
