How do I separate the layers with a png? having trouble!

Hi, Im new to the channel and love your videos. I was wondering, if my logo is two toned but one connecting piece how would I separate it into two pieces? Its not as easy as cutting out a shape, it would have its own irregular line following the transition in colors. your response is appreciated.
