How to Setup the Nvidia Shield in 2021 - The Ultimate Stream Machine

In this video I setup the 2019 Nvidia Shield Pro step by step and go over every last setting the Shield has to offer so that you will have full knowledge and understanding of your device and be able to use it to its fullest capabilities. I strongly recommend the Shield Pro over the Shield Tube but if the budget does not allow the Shield Tube is a decent device as well. It just has less RAM and less storage plus the only way to expand storage is with a micro sd card.
The Shield remote is listed for people that have 2017 or 2015 Nvidia Shields. I strongly recommend upgrading to this new remote as it is tons better than the remote that came with older Shields. If you are buying a new Shield today then the remote linked already comes in the box so no need to purchase one separately.

I had been avoiding getting the shield for years and had been buying and using every cheap android box. I finally decided to get the Shield Pro but lamented the whole setup process. I came across your tutorial and was amazed and highly impressed how you walked me thru every facet of the setup. Thanks so very much. You made the ordeal not an ordeal. A total setup that I am most appreciative. I never did understand why everyone was so high on the Shield and what made it stand out from all of the other android devices. Well after you walked me thru all of the functionality of the Shield I cannot see why I waited so long to get it. Now if only you have a video on how to side load other streaming apps onto the Shield. I will look for it

Cos there's no play store to speak of, no navi bar, no browser, all that side loading crap. Same hassle as a cheap fire stick, no thanks. Up the Minix 👍

One note in case it comes up. Going through the settings you said leave Dolby Processing on. Apparently, if you have a home theater setup with an AVR and subwoofer, you may want to turn that processing off. From what I'm finding, it limits the subwoofer and possibly other things. I'm learning as I go so I have no idea why. But I will say, I was hesitant to get the Nvidia Shield because I thought my Firestick 4k was fine. Ohhhhh Brooothhaaa, this thing is amazing, especially if you got an HT setup. I picked it up yesterday thinking hell if I didn't like it I would just take it back... I burned my receipt last night lol

Looks like I've got some programming to do later! I have been running off your 2 year old Shield set up.. the one with the forks,,juggernaut, titanium , etc.. Over time it kind of fell apart.. because I have no idea what i'm doing unless someone holds my tech hand !!! Thanks for the new updated set up Lee. Looking forward to re- unleashing this beast!!!! Appreciate the step by step setup. I might recommend an updated video, as things have changed, in setting up, a little since your lesson. I set up my nvidia Pro and most of the video was correct, but it was a different animal when I set up Nvidia (the tube) TV. I was left hen pecking around till I could figure out things, almost sent the item back to the developer, until I found how to adjust apps from third party sources. Once again, thanks for the information, you are more than qualified to provide programming data, I just wish someone would make a new video encapsulating the updates. Thanks for keeping us informed.

After going through box after box every few years, I decided to make the jump to a Shield a couple days ago. I'm still at the halfway mark of the video, but I had to pause and say...Thank you very much for the 'Power Control' menu. Absolutely Game Changing. That shit was driving my nuts. 😂

Hi Lee Nvidia Shield Pro 9.0.0 OS update has broken Kodi 17.6 and Lea 18.1 supremebuilds. Kodi is not seeing network connections i.e. not seeing the IP address of the Shield and therefore cannot update files. Is this something you are going to address with a new build?

You’ve been my go to for anything shield /fire stick related for YEARS now. Disappointed RU-vid changed their rules. I went and downloaded twitch and subscribed just to stay connected, but I didn’t see any videos of yours posted. I’m having an odd issue with kodi that I’ve never encountered before. I was wondering if it was something you touched on In your twitch video ( before it was taken down) . Whenever I open kodi, it immediately starts scrolling and will not stop or allow me to navigate. I know this isn’t a controller issue because I can navigate every other app with no issue. Any feedback would be much appreciated and I’d even compensate you for your time. You’re the man

The software updates always change some things around on the setup which is why I do a new one every year or so. You'll see that I found something new myself while I was filming this video that didn't exist until this very last update 👍

I think, but am not certain, that you have the purpose of the "Dolby audio processing" setting backward. This setting is not well documented. A response from Nvidia that I saw says the purpose of this setting is to support audio devices that cannot decode DD+. If your AVR, soundbar, or whatever is able to decode DD+, you should turn this setting off. If it cannot decode DD+ you should turn this setting on.

Hello brother, I have one question from the new update and the transition from android 9.00 to 11 to nvidia shild SBMC does not work anymore I tried to reinstall but without success simply fork 17.5 does not support android 11. When can we expect fork for SBMC for a newer version og kodi ??? I've only used this for years, I feel terrible…

Hey Lee, love your videos! Have been a huge fan since 2019 when I found your videos for my shield and installed your SBMC Gaia build. I did a crazy thing, I updated my shield to android 11 without realizing that it would affect the GAIA build, which isn't working properly. Am I screwed now? Can I fix it? Hello, I have the newest version of the Shield Pro and I was wondering if there is any work around for getting two bluetooth headphones to work at once? My neighbor has a newborn and the subwoofer is a little too unsettling for the little guy so I was hoping the wife and I could just connect our headphones, but it only lets one work at a time. The Pro model is a fantastic device. The standard tube model does everything the pro can do but I feel it's just a bit short on RAM so needs a reboot every so often. To answer your question though the pro version of the Shield is the best device on the market IMO.

@@LeeAaronLive thanks! I had a 4k firestick and I'll be honest... for some reason it was slowing my internet speed to 68 mpbs. It was always lagging. Once I hooked up the nvidia pro my speeds are 220-220 mpbs. I can download apps from filelinked super fast. I have less buffering now. I made a good decision. I've learned a lot in short time thanks to your channel

hey can anyone help me? i recently moved/unplugged my nvida (in the same room) and now for some reason i keep getting a message "wfi not available" but im using a Ethernet connection .. theres some kind of conflict here idk what , its annoying because it will stop/slow down and make it unwatchable until it decides to get some kind of connection again (makes tv and anykind of steaming painful) anybody help?

I have an issue I haven't seen anywhere else. Hbomax stops playing after 8 minutes. Thought these settings might fix it, but no. Good video, everything else seems faster

That's definitely a strange one. Have you uninstalled it, rebooted the shield and reinstalled it? If that doesn't work I'd say submit user feedback for the app. It's definitely not the shield if you're on the latest software since th rest of your apps play fine.

What does Settings > Accessibility > Dashboard (On/Off) do? My TV Shield Pro just updated to Android 11 & it caused issues with my air remote. There was a delay with the up/down scrolling feature of the pointer whilst holding the OK button but i found that disabling Dashboard fixed it.

Thanks for this great video. I've got an issue: my shield (2017) display doesn't use the entire display of my TV. It keeps a black part all around my TV screen. That's only when i use my shield. i have this: : 4K 59,940Hz Ready HDR10 . I've searched and didn't find how to configurate the shield or the TV so that the display use the entire TV screen. Any idea, please?

Hey dude I appreciate all your videos, been following you for years now:) I have a question: i reseted my shield tv pro 2019 but I can‘t go further in setup since shield tv don‘t pair my remote and controller( even though I can pair controller with pc etc) If I plug a usb keyboard or a usb remote, setup window disappears, what can I do man?
