I have noticed sometimes it gets “unhappy” when the handle is not fully in the locked posts. When closing, be sure to force up to the best of your ability (obviously too much force isn’t good for that plastic handle). Let me know if that helps at all!
After many attempts we finally got ours open. Had to really lay pressure onto the handle too. We had a wooden box inside it for several years. The box was covered in am ashy substance. It looked like something exploded on it, but there was only jewelry in it. What happened? The safe smelled bad when we opened it too.
My first thought is mold? I recommend having dehumidifiers in the safe because fluids trapped in it can cause mildew. Sorry for your experience, glad it opened!
Yeah I'm not the biggest fan of that either. Maybe why I thought of bringing water bottles into the cooler for a size comparison haha. That's probably the cheapest and easiest way to make it waterproof.
