Thanks for the tip about getting rid of the slack in the threads. I watched a ton of videos and I couldn’t figure out what I was missing.

I prefer doing a serged rolled edge esp. for cocktail napkins. Cut a little off at the same time as rolling the edge to keep edge crisp. Also I stabilize the edges which will stretch with a narrow strip of wash away stabilizer, just to remove wave which occurs when rolled stitch is across the grain of fabric. Stabilizer strip not necessary for grain of fabric edges.

Forgive me I’m slow to the game 😂😂 when you said you were adding a tag I didn’t realize the type of tag your adding to the napkin. That is beautiful 😊

Hi! I am currently sitting in front of my serger trying to make napkins and *struggling* with the settings, haha! I saw you commented on your stitch length, would your stitch be considered a 4 thread overlock? or is it rolled at all? Thank you! I was so excited to see you have a youtube channel, I love your etsy works!
@NoTraceShop
@NoTraceShop Год назад
Thank you! Yes, this is a 4 thread stitch but you could take off a needle for a 3 thread seam that would look more like a rolled hem!

Thank you for the great tutorial. Where did you order your tags from?

Thank you Michelle! I get them on Etsy - if you search "organic cotton tags" you'll find a few vendors on there. Good luck :)!

@@NoTraceShop great video! Can you please tell me if tagging napkins is required to sell them? Also, what do you put on your napkins? Thank you. 😊
@NoTraceShop
@NoTraceShop 2 года назад
@@lindascraftsandthings915 Thanks Linda! No, you don't need to put a tag on there to sell them - I just like to :). I just put a tag on my napkins!

Do you use anything to lock the last seam or will it stay without anything?
@NoTraceShop
@NoTraceShop 2 года назад
Just sewing it over the starting point like I do in this video is enough to lock the stitches. We haven't had any problems with tons of use & washes on our napkins - the stitches stay put! :).

Hey there, I'm curious the reason for the netting around the thread?
@NoTraceShop
@NoTraceShop Год назад
i think it just helps keep the threads tidy & prevents them from getting tangled :). but you don't need the netting.
@shaynalinkie

@@NoTraceShop Makes sense, I figured it was along those lines and am awaiting my thread's arrival so I can start using my first ever serger. I hadn't seen this on any other serger video yet so I figured I would ask!

What kind of fabric do you use?

I use organic cotton poplin for these. Linen works great too!

No one talks about setting ugh 😩
@NoTraceShop
@NoTraceShop Год назад
When I sew napkins, I keep the stitch length between 3 and 4, and the width around 5 :). You can play around with it and see what settings you prefer!
