Thank you so much! That made my day! I would love to write a book on sewing for small animals. I am hoping to put all my focus into my business/RU-vid and other social media in the very near future and finally leave my 9-5 for good.

Just finished making one that is 19 x 23. Love it! What an awesome pattern and so easy to make. My next one is going to be fleece/flannel. Thank you so very much for sharing it with us.

If you don't mind me asking. What model is the Singer Sewing machine you're using in this video? I have the model 9015, and I am thinking of upgrading in the near future. I really like the looks of the one you're using, I've never seen a sewing machine like that one before.

This turned out really good. I did make mine cat sized 20x 24. My only issue is the boning does not stay over lapped and I did over lap by about 5 inches. Any idea how to fix it now? Kinda scared to try and sew a seam around it as I’m sure it will twist and not sure that will stop it from coming apart.
@FerretTails
@FerretTails Год назад
To get my boning to stay in place I use sewing clips and after I put the boning in, I clip the boning to the top where I want it to stay and then stitch right underneath of it, as close as I can without sewing over it, kind of like making a casing. I have doubled the boning, and never had it, part the trick is getting the bowling to stay where you want it while you sew r the stitch right underneath of it. The sewing clips are great for that I might create a tutorial showing how to do the casing prior to doing the adding the boning, which I didn’t think about at the time I made that tutorial 🤦‍♀️

Would the size you used be good for a 10 lb cat? I have two elderly cats that would love this.
@FerretTails
@FerretTails Год назад
I would do a 20” x 24” just to make sure they had enough room to get comfy 😊. I know that sounds big, but when I think about my female cats that are about that size, I feel like they would want to be able to turn around and curl up. You could even go a bit bigger if you wanted.

What if you want a extra soft layer inbetween the 2 colors layers?
@FerretTails
@FerretTails 2 года назад
You can definitely add batting between the layers. You would just lay the batting on top of the pieces and stitch it in place at the the same time you are stitching the pieces together, but I would make the batting the same length as the shorter piece of fleece, that way you won’t have to roll back and stitch something so thick. When you go to turn the pieces right side out, just treat the batting like it’s part of the shorter fleece so that it ends up on the inside of the snuggle sack. I can try to do a video on this soon if that helps. I’m not sure I’m explaining clearly in my response.

You could also use a really thick flannel .... if batting was too thick.... although quilting batting now is quite thin.

My fleece shedding fluff , do I have to wash it ? Thank you 🙋‍♀️
@FerretTails
@FerretTails 2 года назад
Some people definitely wash the fleece first, honestly fleece does create a lot of “dust” or fluff when cutting and sewing. Also, there are several different types of fleece, some create more fuzz than others. For example, blizzard fleece may start to pill after being washed (this is the little lint balls you sometimes get on the sleeves of sweaters or fleece jackets), but it doesn’t create to much dust when cutting and sewing it. Whereas, anti-pill fleece does pill but it definitely create a lot of dusty fluff when sewing it. I spend a lot of time cleaning my machine 😂.

Can someone help me. If I want to add fibrofilm where I need to put it?
@FerretTails
@FerretTails 2 года назад
I’m not sure if you saw my response to your previous question, but if you would need to add it before you flipped the sack right side out so that it would be between the fleece and not on the outside. In order to stop the quilt batting/fibrofilm from bunching up after you wash it. You would want need to stitch it to the fleece, which I would do at the same time I was stitching it together.

@@FerretTails I new at the sewing . I would make a snuggle bag for my dog. So need firbofilm on both sides
@FerretTails
@FerretTails 2 года назад
@@sannetessely746 before you lay the two fleece pieces on top of each other, cut a two pieces of fibroflim the same size as your outer/shorter piece of fleece. - Then fold the inner/longer fleece piece facing right sides together - pin or clip a piece of the fibrofilm to each side of your inner/longer fleece so that it lines up at the bottom (the fibrofilm should be about 3” shorter than the inner/longer fleece) - Then lay the outer fleece with the on top the inner fleece piece and stitch it together just like you would have if you didn’t add the fibrofilm. - Once it’s stitched, flip the pieces right side out the same way I did in the video by treating the inner fleece with the fibrofilm all as one piece of fabric which should result in the fibrofilm being between the two fleece pieces when your done. - After the sack is flipped right side out, you can roll the top add the boning just like in the video. If you have any questions or any of that doesn’t make sense please let me know and I will do my best to explain it. I know it’s harder when you see it in writing versus seeing someone do it on a video. I will try to put a video up if you need me to, I’m just don’t know how soon I’ll be able to do it. But I’m more than happy to try to walk you through it!
@FerretTails
@FerretTails 2 года назад
@@sannetessely746 Also I want to mention that when you’re sewing it all together be careful and go slow if you can because it’s probably gonna be really thick. It may be difficult to sew over all of those layers. If you have trouble you may need to get a stronger or thicker needle. You can get different types of needles depending on what your sewing. A heavy duty needle may work better than a regular needle, you just have to make sure it’s the correct needle for your machine. And just to let you know, I 100% taught myself how to sew by watching RU-vid tutorials and reading sewing books and blogs. When I started I didn’t even know how to thread the machine 😂
