Milo, I've watched a lot of other youtube videos by other very good teachers, and no one teaches the all-important shallowing of the club like you. I've tried for decades and it never worked. Drop the hands, let gravity take over, and whatever other BS they said. By doing the upper left arm rotation, I found all my balls going a lot straighter and yes, even farther. I didn't know what was happening until I realized my club is automatically getting into "the slot". It's just not difficult at all with your instruction. You're a good teacher Milo, big thanks for your help.

Great!!! Physics is so great and basically easy... The club will follow where your hands travel. If you swing your arms parallel to your shoulder (90° to your spine) your shaft will be 90° to your spine like all baseball players do and all the legends did. If you start moving your hands closer to parallel to your spine the more upright it will look causing a lot of issues like not being able to rotate, control the face, early extension and so on. Since I try to move my arms closer to parallel to my shoulders there is no early extension no worries about beeing stuck or to steep... I still have a long way to go to be consistent but without it I would never ever be possible to have good lag tension at impact... Thanks Milo

Milo, no video I've ever watched has helped me more than the one you discussed/used your "hitting station"! It has helped me get to the best contact I've ever had. However, I'm never sure if I set it up just right. Would you be willing to do a detailed video on how to set it up? For instance, I'm never sure how far outside the target line the plane stick should be etc...thanks in advance!

@@MiloLinesGolf it’s what you said! I have learned so much watching many of your videos, you do a spectacular job of not just shutting down a swing but explaining why something is better. Which is why I choose your technique over Mike Malaska (even though you work with him). Here is a tip for you if you ever have an instructional book published , don’t make it so cumbersome it’s a pain to use! I purchased Mikes and it is way to big to comfortably hold and read.

So much here! A key for me is the *internal* rotation of the lead arm. Without that the club can't shallow. This made me wonder, like the baseball "bat tipper" you like, if we should take care to NOT let it rotate internally in the backswing but keep it neutral? If it internally rotates on the *backswing* (lots of arm rotation) then there's no room to add torque / tilts in transition. In the demo swing you showed of the baseball player that started with the club already laid down, there was little/no internal rotation of the lead shoulder in that swing. Also I never knew the right hip stayed level with or even higher than the left in the downswing!
@MiloLinesGolf
@MiloLinesGolf 4 года назад
Scott Harmon for sure I like the lead arm to stay neutral in the backswing so it has some range of motion remaining for the IR in transition.

I get the part about the internal rotation of the lead arm, but don't you still have to rotate the hands in order to plane the club?

Great instruction, thank you!! When you say 'pivot', is this like a squatting or sitting down move? George Gankas advocates this squatting movement whilst the club is at the top of the backswing, apparently shallowing out the club naturally! Is this the right way of going about it plse? Cheers Andrew
@MiloLinesGolf

Andrew Ferguson That’s part of it in, the reflexing of the body has to be accompanied by rotation as well

Hey Milo, I have really been working on the pivot the last week. Right now I am still doing the movement pretty slowly. When doing the pivot slowly will I see any shallowing if I am doing it right or does it take the movement done at a normal speed that causes the shallowing?
@MiloLinesGolf

Depends on a few variables. I like to make sure it does when practicing slowly

Does Malaska really tip the club out or does he just think (feel) he is? I can see what you are doing but I can't see what he is doing. It would be interesting to see his swing on gears.

Again, lead arm.... when the lead arm internally rotates, doesnt that lay the face open? Does that arm then externally rotate or ride the chest through impact? It seems impossible to "cover the ball" with that lead arm in that position. Thanks.
@MiloLinesGolf

The lead shoulder remains in internal rotation. The body needs to open more than it was at address.

It is much easier to do this in baseball when the heft of the bat naturally creates lag and shallowing. Also - no clubface to deal with.

michael natter the word is adduction which means it gets more across your chest
@bjohnson515
@bjohnson515 4 года назад
Question about lead arm adduction. I am not contesting what you say, but would invite your clarification. When the lead arm adducts, how much of the angle to the chest is lost? Do you want that lead arm laid across the chest? AMG ran a video that showed it is important to keep some angle there, and showed with the avitar how the best players did just that. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eKHd5XKeyTo.html Your comments. Thanks
@plentyofouts
@plentyofouts 4 года назад
You can adduct the left arm but you can still have the right elbow rotate internally and have the Classic right elbow trailing the hip with a steep shaft, no? Steep but with depth not steep ‘over the top’. Trail arm has to initially lead with the elbow at the same time as left arm adduction. That’s what kicks the shaft back, like a pitcher or a hitter it’s a trail arm throwing motion. Not everyone automatically does that. You do cause your a good baseball player and probably never gave it a second thought. People who don’t throw athletically with trail arm aren’t gonna find it in they’re golf swing either. Not dumping on your information at all btw, it’s good. Just my additional two cents.
@MiloLinesGolf
@MiloLinesGolf 4 года назад
plentyofouts for sure the trail shoulder must either externally rotate or the trail forearm must supinate or a combination of both to get the shaft to kick correctly.
@tonyliu809
@tonyliu809 3 года назад
@@MiloLinesGolf at bs, lead arm externally rotate, and trail arm internally rotate, the torque at the top will contribute to shallowing ? In transition, either arm tend to do opposite rotation.thanks.
