Thanks for the video. I never heard of Win4 until watching this video. After searching it, looks like that is what I need plus a lot more. I want to be able to run SKCC Logger and AC Logger simultaneously. 73 AI4ES
In this video you are running what I assume is omnirig v1.x with HDSDR. Sadly omnirig v1.x support was removed with HDSDR v2.8 - a real pain... I am not sure how stable the current HDSDR beta, which once again allows omnirig v.1x, is at this point. This is significant since you can not run LOG4OM with omnirig 2. Oh the joys of battling developers...
Hey, Stu - Great video! Finally got this all working in actual Windows 10. Running Win4Yaesu with Omni-Rig, HDSDR (or SDRUno), Log4OM2, WSJT-X/JS8Call, Fldigi, and VARA HF. Thanks VERY much. I'm going to see if I can use the same tools in a VirtualBox Win10 VM under Linux - will let you know if it works. 73 - Bob
Hi Bob, Let me know how the Linux VM Host project goes. I experimented with some of that about 5 years ago and had issues with some of the Radio interfaces. Glad you got it working with direct hardware though! Stu AG6AG
Hi, Stu - I now have all of those applications running in the VM. Works great, no lag (maybe because this machine has 32GB of RAM, so I can easily give 12GB to the Windows VM). The only quirk I've found since getting this set up is that Fldigi fails (comes up for a second, then a blank notification box, then quits) in *actual* Windows now. Everything else works in both, and FLdigi works fine in the VM.
On modern Yeasu radios, The cat command AI1; turns on auto information, and when a user does anything to the radio the radio will broadcast an IF Answer CAT command. The ideology that CAT doesn't just tell someone something is highly antiquated, and even the lowly FT891 can do this.
Hi Jonathan, Interesting. I'm not finding much info on it other then how to set it and that it auto-resets when the radio is turned off. If that's the case, does the Auto Information setting turn the protocol into a broadcast only connection? Or does it accept commands in this mode as well? Thanks in advance for your answer, Stu AG6AG
Hi Stuart, thanks for the guide. I have it partially working. I get partial VFO in LOG4OM. Are the two settings for TX in HDSDR needed for this to work correctly. They are the only two steps I left out as I don't require TX from HDSDR. Thanks and regards. Ian ZL1HIM
If it seems that the VFO is "skippy" when tuning, then play around with your settings for Omnirig. Changing the settings for error correction can solve many of those kind of issues, and no, the TX is optional, but it makes sense to enable it in most situations. Stu AG6AG
@@AG6AG Thanks Stuart. I tried for some time but could not get the full VFO frequency to read out in LOG4OM whilst using HDSDR. Ended up buying win4yaesu and now everything plays happy together. Enjoy your imfortive videos non the less. Cheers. ZL1HIM.
Hi Robin, My guess is probably not. Win4ICOM only works with the IC7300 and the IC7610. I did a quick search trying to see if the RS-BA1 software supports this kind of control sharing but did not see really find any info. Stu AG6AG
JTDX will gladly send UDP packets (or even TCP/IP), no need to monitor ADIF changes. The setup is the same like for WSJT-X. At all, JTDX s based on WSJT-X.
