Ever seen a cd shatter? Nice little shrapnel discs . Some poor guy is going to come a cropper. Also nice to see him learning how to hold an axe as the video progresses. Well done
I believe he is saying once you have everything set up (cutting, glueing, finding a couple freaking CD'S) the actual process only takes 10 seconds. So after the half hour, it's only 10 seconds lol
Duhhh.nice idea ,getting the axe blade between the cds might touch the edge dulling the sharp edge in a nonosecond ,plus the chopping at the end of the video was much harder than the beginning, but hey you got me to watch, hope you make bank.
@@11mr.niceguy11 I just picked out a name of somebody whose music I would never listen to on a voluntary basis. I was actually surprised when I checked online to see how many he actually was responsible for. six studio albums, two compilation albums, one live album, and one remix album. Who knew? Certainly not me.
They sell backer pads along with 5” sanding discs to go with them. Using hard plastic such as CD’s is very dangerous. The paper itself is the only thing reinforcing it. Once it gets hot or even slightly nicked by the blade as you try to sharpen the blade, that plastic will easily fly out all over the place uncontrollably and possibly take out an eye. Safety glasses or not. “You gotta be smarter than what you’re working with!” 🤦🏼♂️
PLUS: you don’t need to wrench disc down. Push the holding button and rotate the disk by hand is all you need to do. The grinder spins reverse of the threads and will actually tighten itself down as you work.😜
I could never imagine any scenario where this would be needed. I could just go to the store, and buy a whole pack of grinding discs in the amount of time this video was made, and for the same price as the materials that were used. 🤷🏻♂️
How about using what everyone used to use? It's call a metal file and you can put it in your back pocket and it takes 30 seconds (or less) to sharpen an axe and it lasts for decades and costs less than $5
The cds are glued to sandpaper. They arent going to shatter and send shrapnel everywhere. If they break theyre just gonna break. Like taping over a pane of glass and breaking it. The glass doesnt go everywhere, it just breaks.
Except for one aspect that your completely disregarding. It's spinning at high speeds and under a lot of stress. This isn't the same as laminated glass as laminated glass wasn't made to be spun at high rates of speed. Conclusion: Yeah it'll break. Maybe even a few pieces will stay together. But once the structural rigidity fails on that disc it will send pieces flying. Maybe bigger pieces but that's not necessarily better.
Lol!!!!! In the beginning of the video, he just let the hatchet fall onto the branch from a height of 6 inches using nothing but gravity. At the end, he used soo much force to chop the branch, he may as well have been jumping off a ladder to bring it down! Too funny! But yes... sandpaper on a power drill will polish a hatchet head nicely lol!
After 50 yrs. As a tradesman,I gashed my arm with same exact equipment. No guard cost me 28 stitches and bone damage. Be warned, never get complacent with that grinder
What kind of grass did you use for this hack? I've been trying for 6 hours straight even went to the hardware store to get a sander discs. I drove to Best Buy to get some old AOL CDs for free.😂
**GREAT IDEA!!** I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU USE A MUCH LONGER BOLT, SAY LIKE 36" OR SO... 🤔 ... MAYBE EVEN 60"! THAT WAY YOU GET MAXIMUM WoBbLe.... waakaa, waakaa, waakaa!!!
Buy a belt sander and be done even faster. X boss got us a nice upright belt sander for our zero turn 60' mowers. 3 blades 3 swipes per side and your done
It would have really helped prove it works as well as is implied here if he had at the very least tried to chop the stick again "BEFORE" actually using the disc's....
"How to catch shrapnel from a CD" should be the name of this. This is video is highly dangerous as plastic CDs are not meant to be put on angle grinders. The torque and vibrations will brake the CD sending sharp plastic pieces everywhere. DO NOT DO THIS!
When it shatters on some idiot and they end up in icu because a shard ended up in thier neck please let us know. We all enjoyed jackass. An angle grinder is the most dangerous hand tool you can try and modify. I've seen people use it correctly and still get hurt.
Coming from a lifelong construction supervisor this video should be taken down. This is dangerous and irresposible of the person who posted this. Someone is going to try this ans get a face full of CD shrapnel and may never look the same again or even worse die. Take this down!
While I like the idea and concept, also kudos to the op- however I must agree- it’s not safe- that plastic shatters or breaks and sends shrapnel flying and somebody’s not ever gonna look the same, assuming it doesn’t kill them- better and safer ways to sharpen a blade
To anyone who thinks this shit show is good, use a sharpening puck they are inexpensive and only take a while to use or a mil bastard file, stop trying to rush everything
Пълна глупост! Явно не познавате свойствата на металите...Никога не заточвайте острие с бързооборотни машини,защото променяте якостта на материала и се чупи ръба при работа. Топлината която се отделя при това заточване е вредно за метала
Ummm...? You maybe somewhere where youcant buy the real thing ? But. You better wear a full face shield! I dont think cds are rated to be used like this? I seen a regular sanding disk almost sever an artery.. Still. This was not 10 seconds... Wasted time really. Im going to go into settings for Google and get rid of this channel
Alot more than 10 seconds. You got some good ass weed. But fr though. This is dangerous af. What.if that plastic breaks and turns you to one eyed Willie lol
Despite the ten seconds, it would have been awhile using a file. Pretty neat trick with the sand paper glued to the cd disks . Thanks for the trick. 👍💓☮️🇨🇦☕🦫
