I Invested in a "Photo Box" with 2- LED strips, 5 interchangeable background colors, compact folds to size of normal thin 2 pocket plastic school folder with cloth carrying case. Simply Genius! And for Less than $20 on eBay, US ship. U can even p/u 1 w/ adjustable LED 4 few bucks more, why not? Would've help my OCD/ADHD azz, but U don't needed for shooting cards. I also bought a nice slick compact tripod 4 about $15 w/ remote & BAM! U just got yourself a Pro cardboard shooting mobile studio plus.
Sold 1000s of cards with Ebay Standard Envelope: Card into a penny sleeve, into a top loader, taped on the top, wrapped in a 1/2 piece of printer paper, into an envelope. Tape, label and ship. Takes 20 seconds to do and no issues to date. No need for a team bag or extra cards.
Where do you ship them from? I went to USPS to ask them if I can drop some cards off and they’re saying the thermal printed labels arent valid and I’d have to buy the stuff through them.. idk I was very confused
@@MannyTreI just made my first sales and I’m wondering the same thing. Do I just pack it and throw it in the “outgoing box” or go and deal with USPS? I can’t get the correct answer.
@@VegasSharp thanks for the response. I was able to get some info from another seller and he said that “as long as it has a USPS label” then I should be good.
I forgot to mention this in the video that if the package weighs less than one ounce it is 51 cents, if it is between 1-2oz it is 71 cents, and if it is between 2-3oz it is 91 cents. Make sure you select the right option for the cheapest shipping! I forgot in the video and paid more than I needed to. Have fun selling guys!
Flying Dutchmen Cards when you go to print your label on the top left it asks for the weight. Change it to 1 Oz. If you are shipping 2 regular cards in the same loader push it to 2 Oz. I always select the 2 Oz & I add 4 cents when I drop them off so they go non machinable. The cards are safer going that way.
I’ve sold thousands of Yugioh cards on eBay and tcg, and the best way I’ve found for the low end stuff is to sleeve the card, put it in upside down on the toploader and tape it shut with scotch tape. That way the card can’t slide and hit the tape. Then I tape the toploader to the inside (address side) of a smaller envelope (about 2/3 the side of a regular envelope) No team bag, no paper, super easy.
You can also wrap your card up tight in the left over piece of paper you have after you cut your label out. Been doing it that way for over 2 yrs & haven’t had an issue yet with a card being damaged. You can also select the 2 oz & add a 4 cent stamp at the PO & the card will go non machinable which honestly more safe for the item
Thanks for sharing! I will certainly leverage this new program as shipping with tracking is big and normal 1st class in a bubble mailer is nearly $3 this will be the way to go for sure for sub $20 cards
When I use painters tape to close in the toploader, I make the tape slightly longer and add a little "tab"at the end to make removal VERY easy without ever using fingernails. So you can pinch to remove.
Great thorough video. Only thing I would add (not sure if you normally do) is that when I take pictures of the card(s) I crop out most of the background so the card is up close. This way if the buyer clicks on the picture they get a REALLY big picture of the card to see the corners/gloss etc. I sometimes change the backdrop so it's not a white bordered card on a white backdrop. If someone uses scotch tape for the top loader put a smaller second piece facing the other way in the middle of the longer piece so if the card slides out of the top loader it won't stick on the tape. Continued success.
don't use tape at all if you're using a team bag. nice to see the label and process. i've heard negative about this method so far, but it looks like it should work good for most of us.
Been listing cards for over a year now and my mind is already blown... how did I not think to do the foam board cut out to get rid of glare!?!! Good work... Heres a new subscriber
I was the same way for a very long time until I figured this out as well haha. I am glad that it was helpful! Thanks for the support and the subscription!
I did this and the buyer still selected media mail some how. Wasn’t sure if you could help since you’ve been listing cards for awhile. I’ve only sold the one so far
Thanks man, that is great to hear! The sports card hobby is awesome, so welcome! I have an instagram called @scottie_b_cards feel free to reach out to me on there if you have any questions.
Be careful when selecting the Sell One Like This option. I've setup up quite a few Pokemon card listings doing this and sometimes I notice incorrect information like a different language or a different character.
They do this on purpose. Items listed with correct info doesn't get to the top of the search. For some ungodly reason, eBay prioritizes people who scum the system.
Great video! Getting ready to try the black foam sheet. If it works as good as it looks, you are a GENUIS! I have struggled for 2 years on ebay trying to photograph without the glare on my cards. My question Scottie, On these ebay standard envelope, does it actually show tracking for my customers and myself? I've been told that it is just a barcode. Can my customers just go to ebay and track their card like with $5.25 shipping?
That's alot of work for just for a buck or 2. Also you're paying for Penny Sleeve, top loader, thin teambag, painters tape, packing tape, computer ink, computer paper, envelope, scale, gas, your time. & If you're selling alot of cards that's a ton of bulk usage on tape printers ink travel time to post office if you don't want to use your own ink envelopes. It all adds up. & Ink is extremely exspensive. Doesn't seem like a profit. Definitely not worth it unless you're selling cards that are $5 or more.
Great vid, thanks. Now, can you explain how people actually make profits off of .99 cards and all of the extra shipping materials being used… envelopes, tape, printer ink, printer paper, top loader sleeves, team bags, etc…. It seems hardly worth a persons time
Mailed out my first card today. More than $20, but still used the best practices you go over in this video. Thanks for putting it out there. It was very helpful.
Great Video. The board trick for reducing glare was a great tip. A couple of tips for you if you arent doing it by now. 1. Get a label printer and some 4x6 labels. 2. Get rigid mailers that are 5x7. You won't have to use the extra cards in the pack and overall your packing time will be reduced.
@@halllow I've shipped hundreds of cards using the eBay branded rigid mailers and the standard envelope service without any complaints or issues. I was paranoid about them being too rigid as well, but after writing to eBay about them specifically and being assured they were made specifically for the standard envelope service, I gave it a shot and haven't looked back since. As long as it stays below that 1/4 inch mark there doesn't seem to be an issue.
Hey just have a question kind of new seller on eBay been doing it for the past 8 months I just went into the post office today and after sending my cards through eBay standard envelope since I started and they usually accept it but today they said that they would except it because there machines have a part to where it Bends and if it’s not paper that can bend them the people who process it won’t ship it they just told me that today don’t know if that’s a new policy but I went to 3 of them and they said the same thing
If you were to do a follow up video I'd mention there is a 1, 2, and 3 ounce option it is $0.51, $0.71 or $0.91. I'm guessing if someone was selling a lot of lower value cards together the larger shipping options would be ideal and certainly the way to go over first class mail $4 min in a bubble mailer
@@tngerman tape can cause the barcode to appear different to a scanner and shipping errors can occur. Most of the time it isn't a problem, especially if you tape it neatly and flat...but when people take over stuff with a jumble of tape, or it gets folded and warped, the barcode either won't scan or in some cases, can scan incorrectly, causing packages to be shipped to a different address, or duplicate the order number and have it returned to sender.
@@tngerman I also take over barcodes & have never had any problems. My post office actually told me it's okay to do. Maybe if there is a wrinkle in the placed take it might make it a bit difficult to scan. The again I've had a wrinkle or 2 before & it still went through.
Hello! I'm new to all of this. If you did do this, would you have to take the envelope with the card to a post office, or could you just put the envelope in your mailbox? Thank you.
Thank for this, was wondering what in the world an "ebay standard envelope" was and how do you purchase these "envelopes" lol. It's just like printing out a label & you tape it to the PWE. Nice! Was thinking about selling some sports cards for the first time in a couple years, some of which aren't worth $20.
This method sucks - I refuse to use this as ebay nor usps can confirm and back up the delivery of cards this way and I've had to refund numerous buyers, either due to a failure to confirm delivery (since usps doesn't actually track these packages) or buyer's dishonesty about the delivery.
Scottie it looks like you shorted yourself my man. Your package only weighed 1oz but you selected the 3oz. 91 cent option. On the package dimensions section you can select the weight from 1-3oz. 1oz cost 51 cents, 2oz, 71 cents, 3oz is 91 cents. You can ship your way all day for 51cents, and make more profit 👍🏾. Great vid
You can do 51 cents but that’s not non machinable..Better to send them that way. Just my opinion. I’ve sent 1000’s that way & haven’t had but 1 issue. I am glad that eBay finally has done this. Sending cards worth a buck maybe a buck 50 with 3.50 shipping is ridiculous. On top of that eBay charges a fee on shipping chargers as well
Hi, mailman here. The reason they're not being scanned is because the ebay printout doesn't actually have a scanable USPS tracking bar code on them. Kind of a huge oversight on ebay's part.
When I ship in a PWE. I go to the Dollar Tree and buy a box of thank you cards. I think the box comes with 15 cards for a $1.00. It's a little more rigid. Plus it looks nice.
I've tried this and they sent it back to me. The combination of a trading card + 2 layers of cardstock is too rigid, even without a toploader or card saver. It sounds like really good advice but don't do this.
Scottie, MOST EXCELLENT video. Your step by step process Is amazing, super simple & PRICELESS in all the tips you offered here. Thanks alot man and I wish you much more success at all you do☺👍 God bless
Unfortunately, I have gotten negative feedback shipping these methods. What I ended up doing is spending a little extra money, and buying thin sheets of cardboard. I use a paper cutter to cut them. I put the card in a sleeve, then top loader and then place between two pre-cut sheets of cardboard. I tape all 4 edges and put it in the envelope. Heavier stock cards I charge 20 cents extra for such as Topps Chrome, but Topps Series 1 I charge less for. 1 ounce shipping charges $1.20, 2 ounces (topps chrome weight) $1.35-1.40.
Scottie really great video as usual because u have great content but i have to vent about something and i hope to get feedback from you and collectors. I ship football cards via this method for over a year now. It is a hobby for me. Whatever i do not collect i sell on ebay. There is always a person usually every week saying they did NOT receive the card because they know the tracking does not work more then 50/50. I take them to the post office myself. Ebay tracking DOES NOT WORK consistently. Example my last 6 purchases i received them all and ebay tracking says 3 r still at the sellers post office. Tracking does not always get updated because to usps it is just another piece of mail. It is NEVER scanned so stracking is never updated. Maybe i am a cheap skate LOL but it ruins my day when i know a card was shipped and a guy wants a free card and a full refund. So sick and tired of fighting with ebay because they know the tracking is a joke. Scottie you love baseball so how do u handle this? Does it drive you crazy or do u just eat the loss almost every week and give a person a free card and refund?????????????? I can not be the only one this is happening too. Please comment and thanks in advance.
Thanks for the video. I'm curious to see what the tracking info looks like in ebay. I can't see the USPS scanning these like a priority/1st class label. I see these more like the lettertrack.com tracking service that I use for my postcards where "delivery is expected" in a day or 2. The USPS won't be scanning these when they put them in the buyer's mailbox. Would be great if you can show the "delivered" screen in ebay. I wonder if the tracking is going to work like the USPS informed delivery where you get an email with pictures of the envelopes you'll be receiving that day and ebay and whomever they partnered with will be able to verify delivery by tapping into the Informed Delivery program. Anyway, as someone with over 28,000 postcards listed, I can't wait for this to be available to the postcard sellers.
Hey! feel free to send me a message on instagram. I would be happy to send you a screenshot of the tracking from the few cards I have sent out. Thanks for watching the video. I appreciate it!
thanks! I'm a life long collector from the junk era who did it for fun. Now just getting into selling some things off so this was super helpful. Did adding those extra cards to the front and back bump you up to the .91c shipping rate? Also wondering if printing label directly on the envelope vs. taping a print out would affect time and shipping cost though I do like the idea of added layer of protection that the tape adds.
You can use 7x4 bubble mailers they fit perfectly, i just tape the card (in a toploaders) to 2 peices of thin cardboard, seal it up and good to go. Less complaints about the white envelope and protects the cards alot more. I typically dont sell cards under $10 so its worth the extra effort for me.
Your videos are very professional, but your shipping methods sure aren't. Stop using tape, not painters tape, masking tape, scotch tape, duct tape.....NO TAPE EVER.... other than that great job on all fronts.
@@scottiebcards2354 Rubber band the cardboard top right to bottom left corner, you'll not have any damaged cards or fall outs, buyer friendly access with no tape or glue to worry about trying to get off card saver.
So, I'm wondering if you can answer something for me. The requirement says "uniform thickness". Well, how uniform? A single top loader with two padding cards on each side creates a fairly sizable lack of uniformity. Is it basically just ok if the thickest part is less than .25 inches?
I know you can drop them off in a USPS drop off box and at the post office but I haven't tried leaving it in my own mailbox. Postage will be paid so i'm sure it would work! Let us know how it goes for you.
@@sportscardcollector1749 I’ve been mailing baseball cards in envelopes with the traditional stamp and placing them in my mailbox for two years and they get shipped. I’ve even put small boxes and padded envelopes in my mailbox as long as they fit in the mailbox and all my shipment make it. I just saw this video and switched all my individual cards to this shipping option. I like the tracking feature for no extra cost over a regular stamp! Awesome foam board tip. Always fighting the glare.
@@scottiebcards2354 I stopped selling singles after 2016 when they got rid of free postage for 2 oz or less. 3 bucks to ship a 5 to 10 dollar card was not worth it lol
Thanks for this video! I’ve been wanting to start selling on eBay for months but haven’t yet due to my complete ignorance/ anxiety of the whole process. I really appreciate that you showed the whole process from start to finish. My question is does this white envelope rule pertain to sports cards only or all trading cards? Bc now this is another layer I have to think about 😅
I don't see anything that says the envelope must be white. While I have only used white, I don't believe that is true. I've read the requirements. No mention of white. ???
Anyone having issues of eBay standard envelope (“tracked” and “insured”) not updating tracking at all? It’s a faulty program. USPS said they cannot track this because it’s an eBay exclusive tracking code, no matter how you enter it - error. They send you back to USPS wtf. FYI fight for your due. It’s pathetic. I’ve had 6 orders lost as soon as it leaves
I’m finding it very difficult for sellers to be willing to ship this way from my understanding the new eBay policy leaves it up to the purchaser how they want their product to be shipped you are misunderstanding something
The card has to be listed this way or the seller cannot select this option after the listing has been purchased. I have tried it both ways. eBay doesn't want people charging 3.99 for shipping and then selecting this option and profiting 3.40. So unless it is listed this way it cannot be selected from my understanding.
this process is beyond stupid, i never printed a label i put the card in an envelope with a stamp, wrote the address and it's on its way. did i screw myself from receiving payment?
Thanks a lot! Been wondering how to ship cards via eBay without the $4 price tag of shipping 1st class, made the mistake of putting stamps on bubble mailer, but this has helped me a lot thanks!!
Super helpful! So you don't need a label maker, just using a regular printer? You can just cut it out and tape it on? Thats amazing, I was thinking of getting a label maker today actually but would love this
Hello there, very informative video. I just had one question. What if the card is over a $20 dollar value? Can you still utilize the EBay label method?
I was getting so confused why the shipping option wasn’t showing up after I sold a card (wasn’t trying to do the $3 shipping for $2 card) finally found out the option would only come up on my laptop.
Hey thanks for the video! Do you know if usps is supposed to scan the envelope? I sold a card today using this shipping service and when I took it to usps they told me that no scan was needed because there is no barcode. So of course in tracking it still says label created...
Agreed that's an awesome idea and I have had some issues. I'm am also taking a box and making it all white and adding daylight light bulbs to make the photos really pop. Just another idea to make them stand out.
I hate tape on top loaders. The poor soul on the receiving end can damage the card. Putting the top loader in a team bag should be good enough. No complaints yet from my buyers. I also make thin cardboard rectangles slightly larger and use tape to keep it protected then put it in envelope.
I would ship them that way, but if it’s a risk for them to get bent, I wouldn’t do it specially, if I’m doing a eBay because we don’t need no bad feedback
Good clean video. I'm still expecting to lose my TRS status because cards aren't scanned at the post office where they are dropped. I will raise hell if that happens, and pretend ebay actually cares... One other piece of advice--bigger picture! Fill up that screen. Crop it or shoot it with zoom. Also, thermal label printers work, I use my Dymo XL. No cutting/taping.
Great feedback! Thanks for the tips and I also hope that it doesn't affect our top rated seller status. I like to think eBay is smarter than that but you never know! Apprecaite the support!
You can save cost on supplies by printing on the envelope. Instead of wasting paper to print and then wasting tape to tape. Sorry, I am in logistics and saving money on freight is my gig lol.
No tracking. It's crap but it's the only way to sell anything that's ungraded. It's really stupid. Not to mention the market is garbage once again. Griffey rc's for $2 it's a trash market. Soon people will be collecting bench players that are graded 10 simply because that's where the trade is trending. It's literally just a generic stock market.
Love the Vortex shirt! Big fan of my Razor HD! Very helpful video. I’ve been selling on eBay for 20 years and just came into some sports cards but I want to try to get rid of on there. Wasn’t sure how to sell them. Do you ship every single card you sell in a hard plastic top loader? Wouldn’t that get expensive? Again great video and thanks for the info!
