To learn some stuff i learned today from this channel it would take me years or just one day where i simply couldn't stop watching this amazing stuff. Thanks a lot!
Tons of information!! and my favorite short is "TELL" i jus love watching it over n over again learning a lot from you guys!!! keep up the good work....!!!!! peace \/ \m/
The ONE time when I don't have apples! Also, I feel like I've learned so much on shooting scenes from this video alone than any classes and articles I've taken and read.
It's a valid question. Some people are new to filmmaking and are simply hungry for the basics. I didn't even know how to split clips in my NLE when I first started, now I can tell you the importance of ISO and Shutter speed while offering advice such as 3 point lighting to those who are struggling with grainy images. We all have to start from somewhere, and I appreciate Zomboy32's eagerness to learn.
My new favourite channel. You will be going on my featured channels in top place. I LOVE THIS CHANNEL OMG I HOPE U SELL THINGS SO I CAN GIVE U ALL MY MONEY 😩
Ryan, please make more videos like this! Ones that everyone can do and so everyone can understand the basic foundation needed to make a good film instead of random effects that can only be used so many times. Even still, keep up the good work!
Knowing filming terms such as “triangle coverage”, “inserts” or “cut away” are great. Can you make a video where you discuss different terms used for shooting scenes? I also liked how you discussed that you can adjust how each actor can cut off another to communicate pace. Wonder if there are other techniques to communicate things other than pace?
Oke this video was freaking helpful, I love making movies but I didn't know it was a bummer I onky have one camera but now I know it doesnt matter!! THANKYOU
I appreciate you and film riot so much love you guys the energy the vibes the intelligence you an amazing person dude !! I will keep working and one day hope to work with ya
This question might sound stupid but, how did you edit the audio. I mean the background noise and stuff. Because if I filmed it and just left it like that it wouldn't sound that professional??. It would be lots of help if someone replied with an answer thank you.
+yahBoyJbreezy You need to use professional sound equipment which picks up mainly dialogue and less background noise. You have to record sound separately using like a zoom h4n + boom mic and then in post, synchronise it all. Also make sure to record atmos on the day of shooting so for example if you shooting outside of the road, make sure you just record that separately which will add a smooth and natural background noise and you can control how high or low you want it.
Hey FilmRiot, love your videos ;) Hum, If you shoot your scene with only one camera.... what Audio do you take ? ...and how do you synchronize it.. like if you did 2 shots, the actors will not say everything exactly like the previous shot.. :p Thanks!
i think, if u use extra mic u sync with some apps like premiere pro and like he said, take the one angle u needed until finish not move-here-move-there a lot too much :)
I spent 4 bucks at a thrift store for a scene slate and it's made a massive difference. You know, that clacker that has the take number on it, the clack has a real purpose, syncing.
Hello guys I’m really interested on how to sync the audio within many shots, can anyone please explain how to do this to me in easier terms. I’ve already tried it, researched it but can’t seem to do it like Film Riot.
When your filming with the 1 camera. Do you film the whole scene at one angle, the film it again at a different angle and keep doing it until you have made the film
+BrickBuilder11 So does this mean that the actors say there line 2-3 times? This is all very confusing to me. I don't know how to make it perfect like in 0:55. Can you please explain to me thx. :S
Wow this is great! Thank you so much for making this video! It really helped answer a lot of questions I was having about shooting multiple angles with a single camera.
while i watch this show religiously, i don't film alot of stuff even though i dropped alot of cash on an HD camcorder just because i always thought i needed more cameras to pull off that great stuff you guys are doing. Now that i know i don't need more than one camera...i'm excited!
has anyone ever noticed that filmriots own comments are almost always the highest rated? that just shows how much everyone appreciates a reply and downright loves filmriot :)
Little Emily is really starting to come into her own isn't she? Definitely has established her character, and getting more believable. How old is she? Have you trained her, or is she just a natural? Future plans of acting? And what about Josh? Any acting plans, or does he prefer a producer role, or cinematographer instead? Great family you got
Film riot has definitely had a huge impact on starting this film company. Our goal of releasing at least one short film a week was mostly inspired by filmriot, so thank you Ryan Connolly and crew for the inspiration!
Google search "J cut" and "L cut", These are editing techniques to help make the dialogue flow better so that sentences flow together instead of seeming artificial and planned out. Film riot also did a segment back when they first started but I sadly can't remember the exact episode. Hopefully the online descriptions will help.
Sweet peter on a popsicle stick.. Thank you for explaining this! Just shot the last sequence of our short film this past weekend. I was an actor in it and the director when from shot to shot. Therefore, we had to reset lighting and much more important, it makes it hard on the actor to get into character after each freggin' line and reset.. Not to mention it took ALL night to shoot. So, yes. Listen and learn ppl or well.. directors!!!
