BOUNUS TIP: Use a wide angle lens to accentuate your camera movements (most of these shots were shot at 16mm). I hope this video helps you capture some silky smooth footage. Good luck.
malalai durkho i am a Afghani tribal pashtoon girl i love make a historical move, so please tel good camera which i buy but not expensive ,, Please please i will extremely waiting for your replay
Amazing ! This is what's meant by talking the talk and walking the walk - and remember if you are a beginner " If only the best birds sang, the woods would be very silent ".
Thank you for putting yourself out there to teach others! I have been watching your videos for a few months and am building a channel with a $300 drone and my phone. You have partially inspired me to try and see how far I can go without buying ANY equipment. Thank you :)
Learn Online did another none gimbal type video where he has the hat on and is also in the woods... he does a shot where he moves along a tree vertically amongst others... I CANNOT find it... anyone know? THank you for this channel it is crucial
Creative 7 Inc so true! I find myself shooting less and less with a gimbal these days as I can usually pull the shots off needed hand held....plus it saves me time setting up and I carry less 👌
hey Steve thank you for sharing your experience with us! you got a really great channel here I think its one of the most underrated channels for learning how to film! keep on going! greets from Germany
This was great, however, you have to be in GREAT physical shape for sch smooth moves. With joint problems in knees and wrists from an early age, no matter how much i;ve been trying these tricks for years, it's always a jittery' S***show 😝. Another point, and it would be MUCH appreciated if you could address them: what do you do when your handheld camera is a heavier DSLR (think Canon Mark models ) or even an Canon d 80, which are all bigger and twice as heavy as your mirrorless? and do you have any tips for older bulkier professional camcorders such as the Panasonic HC x1500 (without the grip)
Wow this will help me a lot because I am practicing hand held videos so far and planning to buy a gimbal for me after saving some extra bucks. Thanks for these simple but valuable TIPS and for it I am so much tankful and share my lots of love.
When you said something about the rotate, I thought you were making a spiral shot. It could places your hands and spins from side to side, closer or further away from the subject.

I keep coming back to this channel. He always produces no-nonsense content that is crafted to teach you a technique.....fast! It's short, it's sweet, it's free.........thank you Steve.
Do you recommend activating Digital IS in Canon for these shots? With my favorite lens 50 1.4 it is all I got, and it sometimes looks like Jell-o. On another hand, when using warp stabilization in Premiere, I get sometimes horrible Jell-o depending on how bad my shot was. And I get an even weirder effect when nesting (to combine slo-mo with warp stab, looks like ghosting).
Hi Steve. Absolutely loving your videos. Quick question. With these handheld movements do you think there is any case for shooting at 60FPS and slowing down to 40% in the edit to get 24FPS? The downside in PP is of course you can't then use image/warp stabilisation. On balance do you think better to shoot at 24FPS and use warp stabiliser?
Yes you can use slow mo and warp stabilizer, first slow down the video and then click right click on the video on the timeline and then click nest sequence, and the apply warp stabilizer 😁
Thank you for sharing this! One question: how do you do the rotate movement with your image staying in landscape view (not to potrait when holding it sideways)? Or is this something you do afterwards in your editing process?
Thank you and welcome to the ‘notification squad’, be sure to check out my video ‘Hollywood style footage with an old iPhone’ this will definitely help you 👌🎥
Thanks, Steve. I've been wondering what I could do with just my Olympus E-P3 plus the 'kit lens', the former of which was just £1.00, which I think must have been an expensive mistake on the shop's part.
Just spent $300 on a gimbal, waiting for it to arrive. I bought a Flycam before but just can't get it to work yet. After watching this video, I feel stupid.
Great vid and I just subscribed - will be definitely be trying these out and a lot of the 'science'/method would also apply for gimbals etc. Also am keen to see Easy Camera Move 4 which you skipped - cheers
yes, yes,pls do more heldheld tutorial,by the way all your video is awesome, easy to understand with clear explanation,n thxs for the tips n triks, your footage is really amazing, all your review is the best, thank you
@@LearnOnlineVideo thank you! my current camera (actually now I have only a smartphone) doesn't shoot in 60fps and I'm shooting everything in 25frp. If I buy a camera with 60fps, should I, in that case, shoot everything in 60fps? or just some of the views that I want to slow down in slow mo?
