How to Shut Off a Nitro Engine 

Another way to stop a nitro engine is to let my friend tune it. Might stop so hard that it’s permanent lol

I use both methods but always make sure it's at BDC to cool. Good tip for those that don't know.

I do the same, also mark the flywheel with a Dremel grind mark when I put clutch on motor. Thanks Adam

What about pinching the fuel line? I heard it's bad to because it leans out the fuel and could hurt the lubrication of the engine.

What about pinching the fuel line? This is a good tip from a pro and will give this a go cheers.

Last run of day should always shut off by pinching fuel feed line to ensure most of the fuel left in motor is burned. Nitro fuel is methanol based and hydroscopic. Any unburned fuel left in motor will absorb water and will eventually begin to corrode components.

what's about turning the glowplug loose slightly and tightening it down again?

I use the flywheel method. If I dont have the rubber stop tool, i'll use my walking stick. I personally dont like to use my finger as I have in the past hurt my fingers from the flywheel rubbing skin away.

Hi Adam, I was wondering what is the best way to get the residual fuel out of the engine when you are all done running?

This is related but different, i think we all need to tech the new guys and electric only guys how to safely stop a run away. I don't know how many times I've seen new guys grab it to marshal it and the car is screaming and they throw it down and cue circus music.

I use the heel of my sneaker. On a runaway turn it over dump the tank if you can’t use your heel. No skin anywhere near the flywheel!

Never use the finger to shut the engine off touching the flywheel. Never Adam.

Don't use your finger. Your buddy might blip the throttle at the same time. Don't ask how I know.

Finger. Be forcefull.
