Yup, thanks man. I recorded the vid partly because of Lordprimate's tutorial, after watching his i felt the need to do it better as he imo really didn't get to the point, you were sitting there waiting for the next step, he explained to much and added his own personal thoughts in there which wasn't necessary. Hi! Sorry, I'm pretty noob at this. Is this the way to create a private clan mod folder? I mean a pack of mods into one mod? Thanks you in advance.

Hi, not really, a better way would be to use pbomanager see my tutorial for that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lQUBaAnk5qk.html&t But pbo manager you can extract and pack mods. Do you know how to create a mod folder with the @modname, and addons folder inside, then you put the pbo's and bisigns inside the addons folder? You dont really need to pack a mod, a better way to avoid all the manually handling of mods, is to create a collection on steam workshop, and add those mods to the collection from the workshop, then tell your clan members to go to the collection page hit subscribe and they will download all the mods.

Hey gunter how to extrack and repack certain items from a mod. For example if I want to use and download only one rifle from a some weapon mod pack, how to I identify the correct files to be packed with arma 3 tools?

Hi, Personally if i wanted a certain weapon from a weapon pack, i would do the following: 1. Open the mod pack and look at the names of all the pbos, as some mod packs actually name the pbos with the names of the weapons they contain. If not go to 2. 2. You could use pbomanager to open and review those pbos you suspect to contain those weapons you want without extracting them, and if you dont know how to use pbomanager i have a tutorial for that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lQUBaAnk5qk.html&t 3. Once you locate the pbo file that contains the weapon you want, then with pbo manager either copy, remove, or just extract that pbo in that weapon pack, most times the extracted pbo like a mission will contain the same name as the pbo in a folder with configs and such inside, it all depends, none the less just extract the pbo. 4. Some files may contain multiple weapons in one pbo so that why you will need to extract it, as for getting the weapon your looking for from the configs and other related files from a pbo with multiple weapons, cant help you there, all i can do is explain the process. ===================== Overall just locate the pbo file within the weapon pack and once you have it, you will need to create a new mod format for it for the game to read it, so do the following: 1. Create a folder and name it what you want so for example if the weapon or weapons in the particular file is ak's then name the mod folder @AK weapons just an example but you want the @ sign and then the name after, name dont matter. 2. Inside the @modname folder, create another folder and name it ----> addons C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 3 ============ You dont need to use Arma3 tools, pbomanager is sufficient for packing if anything needs to be packed. Arma3 tools is good for packing and signing at the same time and then the other method to just sign a mod is to use the DSUTILS . So Use "DSUtils" in Arma 3 Tools, that's what you need to sign pbos, it's also what addons builder uses. People that get errors using the addon builder per my tutorial here is because of addon builder not DSUTILS. DSUTILS signs pbos, and you can use pbomanager to pack a mod, my tutorial here just goes over both methods using one tool, in Arma there is almost never one way to do something thats the beauty of this game. Home that clears it up for you.

@@Gunter_Severloh Such a quick reply, thank you so much for that man. Anyway this is the situation I'm facing right now: 1. The mod contains two pbos which is the regular name of the mod pbo and cfg pbo. 2. Unpacked the mod using pbo manager and find out there are a lot of files in it including folders like anim, sound, data and so many files below those folders, some of it are in rvmats, bin or p3d. I can see a certain file named after the rifle that I want to use, whether it is inside those folders or below those folders that are in rvmats file. Also there are several files that are not named after rifles from the mod (So i guess do not delete those files?) 3. I've tried to pack the unpacked mod using arma 3 tools just to see how it works, and using the same step as you pointed out in your tutorial (including the BISIGN stuff) although the difference is that I have installed my arma 3 tools in E: disk not C: or at the same location as my main directory of arma. Then when I click "pack" it says "error" "Source directory path is not subfolder of Project directory." Man this stuff is so confusing 😑, but thanks for the insight anyway.

@@danielsuarez3793 Welcome, Dont use addon builder, just use pbomanager, then use DSUtils to sign the mod when you need too. Can you link the mod to me, and let me take a look at it, what is the rifle that you are looking to get from it?

hello! dont know if you check this (It has been 5 years) but im running into some issues trying to get my insignia addon to work on a server ( the host tells me its not signed by server. both the server and all players have the mod added). any advice?

Need help please, ive been trying to sign two pbo files. Ive followed the steps , uploaded the @mod folder into the server, copied and paste the bikey to the Keys folder of the server, added the @modfolder to the commandline but whenever i try to join the server i get the error message saying that the key I have is not accepted by the server. Ive checked and can confirm that the bisign and bikey are the same between server and mine.

Hello, sorry for the late reply i was at work then sleeping. I suggest you follow my other video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iq4iJOmz8s4.html instead which doesn't use the addon builder. As for your issue, the client joining only needs the bisigns as im sure you know, but again i suggest using my other tutorial, as there might be an issue with the addon building signing. Let me know after you have used the DUtils tutorial and the results for your server if you still get the same issue. Also be sure to have your server logs on as there could be something else going on.

Did you delete your previous comment? i think you did you gave an error message and i responded and told you what you can do, giving up wont solve your issue, go to Bis forums like i suggested before in your previous now deleted comment, go to the arma3 tools troubleshooting section post a thread, and tell them what the error is and what your trying to do. i downloaded a file for arma. its a building for my eden editor. but its a pbo and i dont know what to do with it? or how I get the buildung into editor

So if its just a pbo itself then what you need to do is the following: 1. Create a folder, and name it @ and after the @put the name of the building or give it a name, dont matter, as long as its one word, so for example @House 2. Open that folder, and create another folder inside, name it addons, dont misspell it, again ---> addons 3. Move the pbo to the addons folder 4. Move the whole @House or whatever you decide to name it, to your arma3 directory which is here: C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 3 5. Start the arma3 launcher, and go to local mods at the top and locate it, choose it from the arma3 directory, and load it, then look for the building in the editor probably under structures under empty. Do you have a link to the mod?

@@improxxh8524 Never heard of Native Network especially not for arma, and i been in the series since its beginning. Imo you best place to download mods and such are armaholic and steam workshop for arma3, most of the mods there are already in a mod format, if not then you have to create that format the @modname ect,. or the game wont read the pbo.

Do you need to store private key on a server?

Private keys don't need to be on the server, and shouldn't be distributed its main use is for addon makers to sign their addons, so keep it private and safe. Only servers need to add the bikeys of those addons they allow to be used on their server when using the "verifySignatures" command in their server config.

Dayz as in the standalone game, or the mod for arma2? For arma2 it should but for the standalone game, idk not familiar with the files, dont play it.

Why are you using binerize for a model? For signing all you need is the DSutils.

@@27lyndell I see, theres lots to learn, your going to need a couple of tools one to open configs which is called unrap, another pbomanager to pack and unpack pbo's and maybe notepad++ you can use normal notepad but notpad++ is made for code. Can you link me what mod your trying to add more capacity too, maybe i can look at the mod's files and see what it has or what you'll need to do.

@@27lyndell Mods are tricky, it depends on what you want to do, models are on another level, configs and scripts too are complex, again it all depends on what you want to do, based on your other comment, you could literally take the existing mods your trying to add more capacity to and make a mod out of that, just by changing some values already established in the mod. What i recommend you do is get 3 tools as i suggested in my other comment: unrap which opens configs pbomanager which opens and packs pbo's notepad++ as its good with code in terms of format and other stuff, all free. If you need resources on modding i have a compilation list that has exactly that: forums.bohemia.net/forums/topic/229179-arma3-modding-guides-tutorials-compilation/ theres also a category for utilities basically tools you would need. You can use a tool called Pbomanager, get it here www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=16369 Be sure to download and install the version based on your operating system so if you have a 64bit OS then get that version. You probably have the wrong folder address in addon builder, go back to 5:10 in the video, make sure that top address points to the folder of your addon the @whatever your addon name is. Then the 2nd address below that is going to point to the addons folder in the addon (@whatever your addons name is). At 6:30 in the video, make sure the address to the private key is correct. Make sure the path to your 6:55 project folder is pointing to the folder of your addon. I had same issue when i was first learning to sign my own addon, just check the folder address's, all your doing is enabling the tool to see the correct folder to build and then where to put the built files, also note the built files dont have to be in the same folder as the addons like demonstrated in the video. Hope that helps :)

@@Gunter_Severloh thank you for answering i finally find the problem, i was binarizing it so after i solve that problem i tried to pack it again but this time the build failed because of 'Cfg Convert', do you know what it is thanks in advance :)

make sure the following is correct: 1. The addon source directory which is the top box, that has to be pointing at the mod which would be the @mod not the addons folder or the unpbo'd addon. 2. The Destination directory or file name, this is the box below the top one, this should be pointing at your mod's addon folder. 3. Under Options (at bottom) Path to private key is the key you made in the dsutils program make sure the path is similar to this one: C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 3 Tools\DSSignFile\your private key 4. The rest leave as they are. Now if you have all those correct, a possible issue could be with your addons config. Try again and if no bisign shows up along with the pbo then I would recommend asking here: forums.bohemia.net/forums/topic/174126-dear-mod-makers-sign-your-mods-its-easy/ This is the thread this is about signing your addon/mod, i suggest stating you had a build fail and that its possibly due to something wrong with your config, code, or something i cant really tell you. Hope that helps. The other option is to use another tool called: Makepbo by Mikeros

Gunter Severloh the message has a bunch of file extensions and says invalid key for each one. I have pictures I can send to you via email or text.
