My mom is trying to learn asl because of hearing loss, but because of spriatic arthritis she cant make her hands into firsts. Ironically the most common reason shed need this sign is for when her hands hurt. Are there alternative ways to Express physical pain that might be more accommodating to her?
Hello and thank you for checking out my videos. I am so sorry to hear that your mom is struggling with pain. I am not aware of an alternate sign but your mom can use any sign that she feels comfortable with if she is signing with you. The two of you can establish what is known as a "home sign." Maybe your mom can avoid the twisting motion or have more of her fingers extended (as long as you establish the meaning together).
Thank you for watching and wanting to learn! This video has some useful signs as well. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UYPJjV79x_M.html
