I'm a brand new baby artist, started painting in Nov 2023, and I hadn't considered consciously that my signature is a compositional element, but of course it is hahaha. I almost never know where it will end up, I just look at the finished piece and see where it wants to go. And if it's particularly abstract I like to pick an "unusual" place to sign, kind of as a way to indicate that there is no right or wrong way to hang it. Also, I signed my name approximately a million different times trying to create the perfect Artsy Artist signature, and am pleased with what I ended up with. I both take myself deadly serious AND absolutely not seriously at all, so I am having a great time cosplaying as an established, respected artist and trying to implement the best practices of same.
Reading the title of this video, my first thought was: Ah, Thomas, your paintings don't need a signature! Anybody can tell it's a Schaller at first sight. 😍 But it does make sense what you said about it, thank you. Greetings from Hungary! 🌷🎨
