I noticed my 2010 prius was rattling quite loudly while idling. Here are the steps I took to fix it. Link to the galvanized hanger strap: amzn.to/3jLTLQ3
Thank you! I've been looking for someone that had the same "various RPMs" issue too. This finally answers my question! (2013 Toyota Prius - Package 4) It's been tricking me for a while because it sounds like it's coming from around the B pillar when I'm driving uphill in Power Mode.
Very nice! I had the same issue with my 2010 Prius years ago. I fixed it with a thin metal "washer" I cut off from a can and drilled a hole through it. The noise comes back again now and I'll try your recommended galvanized hanger strap this time as it looks more sturdy.
Good job...would suggest to isolate between bolt/strap and aluminum shield so will not happen again...dissimilar metals cause corrosion of the more anodic material.
Heat shield for my 07 camry 4-cylinder above the >"Muffler"< itself had became completely loose. Removed, no rust very thin. Is this required to have it reinstalled?
Hello thank you for the video have the same issue with my 2008 Mercedes Benz GL450 just a suggestion instead of the metal wire you use wouldn’t a larger metal washer work better you can buy a pack at the hardware for less than 5.$ also rivets work great if the bolts are striped or broken…
The problem is that due to metal reacting to metal, there will eventually be new holes. Better to use "just enough" and repeat the process a few years down the road. :)
I use penny washers and a fibre washer underneath so the steel of the washer doesn’t react with the aluminium. At least Toyota use a decent size bolt and washer on the original
Well done, well thought up. But I want to close up a comment for you, your Prius needs rust removal and anti-corrosion treatment! If this is not done, it will soon rot to holes Молодец, хорошо придумал. Но хочу заделать вам замечание, на вашем Prius надо устранить ржавчину и сделать антикоррозийную обработку! Если этого не сделать он скоро сгниёт до дыр.
good to check on that as a cause for rattling noise, in a worse case a mechanic could diagnose it as a bearing damage /problem with the crankshaft, and jus by this wrong diagnosis you would throw away your car or sell it for cheap
