Cripes! You put me in tears just listening to the instruction on the intro at 1:17! Beautiful. I had this sung at both my weddings, and my first wife's funeral. I think the real trick, too, is to sing this as a prayer as my mother always did--she had a beautiful voice and with only some formal training, could nail pretty much any piece she sang. She was a natural mezzo, very powerful and passionate voice, instinctively knew how to interpret the dynamics of any piece of music she sang. Her Cantique de Noel, which she sung for our parish annually at Christmas as a duet with my bass/baritone father would have half the congregation blubbering in tears, myself included. I miss them.

E says eh, pleh-nah, teh-cooom. U says oo. T is made with the tongue hitting the roof of your mouth just behind the teeth, not by touching the teeth together.

Yes I agree it's a short E sound like in egg not a long E sound like in eagle. All the Gregorian chants pronounce it pleh-nah.

I'm a bit old to learn new tricks. I've been to singing lessons for few months now, my teacher is not quitting on me and working on my high notes... She says with practice. I can be a tenor. So after Vittoria mio core, Non But the lonely heart (in Russian) comes Ave maria Bach. I though I knew this song but it seems that I know the Schubert version. So I was lost until I found this video. Thank you for the nice lesson.
