So many great vocalists from that era my personal favorite was sebastian Bach but it seems like all these guys lost their voices over time. Ken puts alot of emphasis on taking great care of your voice and you can tell he practices what he preaches for him to still sing that style with that kind of power. Sebastian bach posted a Judas priest cover just last week and it's hard to listen to him knowing what his voice use to be compared to now . Still rocks but it's just not the same.
Was/ Not is / Exactly like Stan Paunley from Kith/ Voice is shot / Admit it / Ken Tamplin can still sing / Coverdale not😅😅😅😅😅 Insane voice on both Coverdale an Paulina in they're hey days both they lost it decades ago/ That is a simple fact/ Yeah I know morons like Sebastian Bach try to convince people other wise / How drunk or drugged can he be to say Stan Paunley dont lipsynch/ I stood close to stage and and I swear he did not lipsynch( Sebastian Fraud) Ever felt like ya been sheated/😅😅😅😅😅😅 Well reality is hard for most peeeople but / How far out could it be😅😅 Ken Tamplin can still sing/ That doesn't mean Coverdale or Paulina still do it/ They have one truck with backing tracks / Get real peeeeople😅 WTF Even
I think David Coverdale has this unique accent and phrasing. Like you said his phrasing and tone are very short, stabby but articulate at the same time. And although he sings rock, i also feel heavy blues feel to his voice. Just my opinion and i am trying to sing like him because his voice is amazing!
David is my all time fave. I like to think his voice is like an army of Spartan soldiers. He just kicks ass and looks and sounds cool doing it. That rasp and soul can undress a woman by singing to her.
David Coverdale, Jorn Lande and Dino Jelusic are the greatest vocalists I've ever had the pleasure of hearing sing in my 40 years as a rock fan. Bruce Dickinson, Ronnie Dio, Robert Plant and Freddie Mercury complete the TOP 7 of all time, in my opinion.
Ken, I've got to say, I had professional training when I was 5 up until I was 15, pretty much before my balls dropped. But you have been the best vocal coach I've ever had the pleasure of learning from. I think I need you more now I'm in a signed band, though money is tight. One day I'll be able to learn from a legend properly, such as yourself. Please keep this going, the amount of new vocalists you'll be inspiring is well needed in the age of autotune and powerless singing.
Coverdale was a master in the 80s. No one really sounds quite like him. I think that’s the thing for me all the greatest rock singers had a unique overall tone and presentation. I’ve never heard anyone copy Coverdale exactly. Same with dio. Great analysis ken as always goes without saying.
David's voice has such character and expression. When he ends his phrases, it is almost like he has a harmonic in each final note. He also has kind of a lazy, whine as he as a slides from different notes/words of a phrase, but not in an annoying way. It seems to give his singing more emotion and shapes the song with expression and meaning. It is almost like his voice is an instrument, but the way he transitions thru the words combines that instrument into his signature style.
I think of him as sexy and the MTV video Here I Go Again. Seriously, he is a phenomenal singer and frontman. He is still killing it today on stage. His vocals has changed some but he still vibrant. I'd put him the level of Sammy with frontman that enjoy singing and wowing the crowd.
I grew up with the 70’s and 80’s because my parents always played it. I got to see one of my most favorite 70’s band STYX with Don Felder and REO speedwagon. I new every song styx played by heart. I love whitesnake too
Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy yes when they played a song they talk about the back story and that they were joking about when they were on the drugs back then
Jorn Lande IS a VERY interesting combo between Coverdale and Dio . Take a chance Ken and listen to him, not asking u to put it up on RU-vid, just take a vocal chance on this guy with your ears in private
I prefer the early years of JORN LANDE with RONNIE LE TEKRO in "VAGABOND" (two albums), and "ARK" (and his two first solo albums). Much more versatil range and vocal ideas. I love their voice on all that albums! :-)
Hello, I’m like very great JORN💕good singer, beautiful voice, and my RESPECT for differents Covers‼️Ronnie it’s difficult singing, but JORN , just a Perfection🤘Ronnie war a reference for HIM 🙋🏽♀️🙏
🎼"Here I go again..."🎵🎶🎵🎶One of my top ten fav songs by Whitesnake. "Looking for Love" is also fine and very underrated. Never seen this performed alive.
ken your the only voice coach i have ever seen with students actually sing.....as soon as i get enough $$ i am going to get your course . I have taken a vocal lesson with a professional but that didnt work out....
Coverdale is awesome love his vocals yes he did growl and roast when he sung which it worked for him and I absolutely loved it coverdale rocks big fan of whitesnake i didn't listen to much of deep purple but loved whitesnake great demonstrations Ken singing like him awesome singing Ken love the sound I love is this love and here I go again but great video respect to coverdale 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌great video ken👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Wow he's your second favorite? That's saying something huh? He's one of them along with Dio, Halford, Mercury. I love the way you're able to get the feel of it. I saw them twice and David really brought it. Of course that was back in like 1987 with Vivian and Adrian.
Have been to the Concert from DC on last Friday in Germany 🇩🇪 Great Band and DC was good Sure he cant hit the high tones anymore thats why he got a young gun from 🇭🇷 Croatia as an background singer on the Organs . Well it was a nice evening of pure rock and roll .this was the last time to see DC live on stage I guess so.Farewell DC
Hi Ken! Great video. I love DC. He's one of my absolute favorites. Thank you for explaining everything. I loved hearing you and your protégé sing these tunes. This one brought a few tears to my eyes. These songs have always been so important to me and I love to hear them done with the passion and justice they deserve. How about one on Bon Scott? I always found his vocal style and lyrics fascinating.
In your song, Not Alone, I believe it was, you went from a near perfect Coverdale into Gramm. I remember being astonished at how you did their sounds so well to the point that I had to check the credits to see if it was one of them.
I like the bands David was in. Deep Purple is awesome. Whitesnake was ok. Whitesnake did some MTV videos which were pretty popular. Good singer although honestly not in my favorites category. Thanks Ken for another great video and the excellent singing.🎤
Hey Ken, really dig your “what makes this singer great” and “how to sing like “ series. Would you consider doing Jay Buchanan from Rival Sons? He’s a killer vocalist and nails it live. (I’ve seen them and his pitch is bang on) Thanks
The proof really is in the singing! Very useful insights here that cleared up a lot on how he does what he does. I hope I can reflect this all in my singing soon :P
U know ken , his accent adds a little flavor too his voice.same for klaus of scorps..u should do a show on bon scott.his voice was one of a kind..w an accent also..
Fantastic review, Coverdale is not only an amazing singer and frontman,he is also a class act! I would love to hear you review/cover Michael Poulsen, Ed Kowalcyzk and Patrick Stump.
Its so sad, that many of the great guys rely so much more on power, than on technique and they waste part of their voices.... But Coverdale was a great singer and he knows how to command a stage and an audience. I saw him 3 times and he absolutely rocked!
You teach uz very goog, I don't speack English, but I anderstend et oll, vat you tock, I vant tu say meni, bat kan't, you are very musicion, perfekt, tank you, if you see Ms, David, say him, from me,--- David is nomber 11111111, may be I see him onli wone taim in may life, shalom from ISRAEL 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓
Another great video, Ken. I love on Slide It In and the '87 album how they left in some of the times you hear Coverdale taking a breath before he sings. To me, it really helps you feel like you're there when he's singing it. Suggestions: Bob Seger, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ian Astbury of the Cult and Donnie Vie of Enuff Z'nuff.
Man you can sing.. great one.. Have you ever re-done your old songs again?? Cant find them in your vids,.. My suggestion is One of the Shout Album 1988. I was at Monsters of Rock 1988 in the Netherlands (security on stage).. And Shout Should have been booked Too...
Hi. I believe his best performance was his starkers in Tokyo show, espicaly when he sang here I go again . He sang all his songs in that show with such passion . I feel his voice was at it's best in that show. Id be interested to see u react to one of his performances from that show
btw, whats Gabriela up to these days? ANY chance of her working with you again on some covers?I really enjoy her vocals. Her DIO was flawless. I was simply amazed when I first heard her sing.Girl has some pipes.
Ken, você não tem idéia de como é legal receber respostas de você/seu canal, reconhecimento bacana do seu público, saúde paz e sucesso , saudações do Brasil.
I think David got hurt his voice, maybe , between other issues, to sing that way you say ("singing like this is an extreme sport"). You 're keeping your voice "extremely" much better than David did. Great video, Great songs and such a Great job, a Gift,as is usual. THANKS Ken.
Great vid as always Ken By the way check out Whitesnake live in Oberhausen Germany 🇩🇪 2022 It was fun 🤩 I’ve been there DC was in a good mood. The band played very well. The audience were almost too drunk Hahaha Anyhow music live in concert is awesome God bless you Ken
Ken, how about doing a "How to Sing Like . . . Rik Emmett" from Triumph!! Rik has the awesome soaring vocals, AND is a blistering guitar player. "Magic Power," 'Fight the Good Fight," 'Somebody's Out There,' are all killer songs, and 40 years later (gasp! I'm that old?) Rik can still sing it and bring it!! THAT would be a cool "How to Sing Like . . ." Of course you could also do Sammy Hagar - maybe even have him in there with you! That would be fun AND awesome!! Do "Heavy Metal," "I Can't Drive 55," from his solo stuff, and Maybe "Dreams" or "Best of Both Worlds" from his Van Halen days. God Bless, brother!! I'm learning everytime I watch you!
The shirt is amazing! Coverdale enuff said! ;) I would love to be a high baritone as this is the sound all the singers that know about quality, meaning bluesy, full/rich tone want to sound like. Unfortunately I'm a tenor so it's quite hard to pull this off... Youngsters should listen to this music to get sum taste! It's not debatable... hahaha Mr. Tamplin great as usual! Cheers
Sir. Your vocals are so terrific. I go back to Robert Your first selection is of David fresh out of whisky and condoms by his own admission. They both have had something you will never had. They grew up in the area of Bromwich David more on the coast. How ever They could literally just scream and it sounded awesome. You have to (I add I could never match you sir, your terrific) get they screamed. It was awesome. That said You said it they were a old big motor whom could pump out hp!!!!! There is no way by being technical they could. They relied back on their natural speech patterns and brogue Listen to Robert or David in the early interviews (Roberts aren’t many due to Peter Grant.) But they both sound like their acoustic stuff. Obviously their isn’t much David stuff You have too go hunt. Robert has many But at the end of the day You sir are awesome Thank you for all your videos. You are a wealth.
19:55...Damn Ken, it seem in this passage , that you sing better than Gabriela Gunčíková. In basically , your best student. She sing now somewhere in USA? Thanks for reply.
Do you think Davids posh british accent adds something? His breathing sounds english at the end of his lines or words. He's great. first thing I searched on youtube was the Deep Purple live gig that you talked about.
