+physicaltherapyvideo but most demented geriatric patients in carehome are seated on a couch or lazyboy type of chair for long period of hours for comfort that u hafto assist them going to the toilet every now and then. in such cases i noticed they stand holding on to the walker first and pulls it towards them.

+physicaltherapyvideo is it safe for the caregiver to hold the walker with one hand while simultaneously holding the gait belt from behind as the patient Tries to stand up and their hands on the walker? or is there any other way?

If you happen to sit in a chair with no arm rests then tell the patient to turn sideways in the chair and then use the backing to support one hand as they push off. Not ideal but its better than nothing.
