How To Slide Tandems On A 53' Trailer 

20 year AZ Driver Trainer here, excellent pace and demonstration. I'd love to see you do more of the basics for new drivers, maybe how to be safe around docks - talk about the dock lock, red/green light etc. Keep up the great work!

It's always a good idea to get in the habit of checking to make sure your tandems will slide when you first pick up the trailer, wether you think you are going to need them or not. When you get to your pickup or drop point, that is not the time you want to discover that they will not slide. If they will not slide at the time of pickup get in touch with dispatch but DO NOT TAKE THAT TRAILER. Companies and drivers will overlook this because it is not a DOT requirement that they have to slide for you to get down the road.

Thank you for the video!! You explained and demonstrated it very well. My experiences with a tractor-trailer has been delivering with a dolly and ramp. I’ve never had to slide tandems until today. My current employer never showed me. Well today I was going to have to slide them to be legal with the weight. I practiced in a parking lot right never getting loaded and I had no issues. I hope you have more videos or you’re planning on doing more. You’re awesome!

Been driving for 11 months and recently got a job that makes me drive 53 footers. Some receivers told me to slid the tandems all the way back and I was like “what the heck is that?” 😂
