This is very dangerous, this is not for kids, u must understand how electrical current works and have experience with lipo batteries. This is my way of de soldering a connector and soldering on a new connector. If you have any question's please feel free to comment. Thank you for watching

Great demo Brother 👊. Solding these big suckers for the first time right now and you boosted my confidence. Love the focus about safety. Nice skills and steady hands. May not be surgery, but kinda is when you need everything right 🍻

When you’re doing the second wire (positive) I’d wrap that negative side with electrical tape. There’s not much room to wrap it but it’s possible. Nice video. Very impressive skills. I can’t solder lipos and stay that laid back…. Freaking anxiety

Man you made putting that cap on at the end easy! Most of the time when I put them on, one side of the tabs go in and the other side doesn't. I try to push it in and it gets mangled. Haha.

At 4:23 ladies and gents... not only should you add a little flux on that post, but you should ALSO lightly PRE-TIN THAT POST, THEN proceed with the rest of his steps. He didn't pre-tin it so it took longer for that wire to integrate/adhere with the solder and bind + he needed to get the iron touching the post AND wire for an even quicker melting point/bonding point. Also, your solder is a little too thin. A larger diameter solder would disperse easier and you'd spend less time and heat trying to get it melted in place. Lastly, you should have some electrical tape covering that red wire that had already been soldered for an extra safety step. If your soldering of that black wire would have come loose, it could have easily fallen down on the red one shorting things out. An electrical tape barrier would prevent such a mishap. Good post anyway...

Yeah it all good. I tried my best giving the proper warnings of the dangers. I forgot to pre tin first lead its all good, did it on second lead. I wish could of made video super perfect but it happens. I have the thicker solder but I just like using the smaller solder for some reason. Thanks for watching man

Hey DISHDOCTOR, I just stumbled across your video and it is very informative for soldering these connectors. We recently started using these on some of our builds. Have you ever experienced any issues with these connectors failing by getting very hot and the plastic ring on the inside melts? We've run into this a few times and can't pinpoint what is the cause. Thanks again for the great vid!

Qs8 hold so much heat. You can’t melt them unless you really overdo the heat. Also make sure to have male and female connected to act as. Heatsink.

@NepDouble07
@NepDouble07 3 года назад
What do you mean misalign the holes? How would not having a connector plugged into it cause that?
@KiloWattRC
@KiloWattRC 3 года назад
The heat from iron will soften the plastic in the connector causing the bullets to move or miss align in the connector. Making it hard to connect and disconnect. Have the connectors connected keeps the bullets aligned in both connectors making it easy to connect and disconnect

Having that opposite connector plugged in also helps with heat dissipation whilst soldering. Especially if there's wires soldered in like in the video. Heat sink. Stops your plastic connector getting messed up. Thank you for the video. I'm about to solder 22s worth of li-po. Along with matching series harness. And parallel charging cables. As much as I like soldering. I'm not looking forward to it. Gonna take a few hrs. I spent £90 on QS8 connectors. Gonna be running 22s 10ah 25c tattu batteries at 150a peak. 92.4v @ 150a. 13,860w minus any voltage sag under load. 18.48 bhp on my bike.
