Thank you for the tutorial. After watching your 917K series, I was inspired enough to buy my first MFH kit and I was going to use the soldering method with it. But after this I realise I need different flux and solder. Much appreciated. Looking forward to your Ducatti build series!

Many, many thanks for this video on welding white metal elements (zamak) ! I'm going to try this on my next assembly of a MFH 1/12, especially on the tubular parts of the structure. 👍👍👍👍👍

This is fantastic! I build mostly 1/43 scale white metal model cars (Tameo, AMR, etc.) and soldering brass or stainless photo etch parts to white metal is also a thing. Any thoughts on that? I've done it a few times successfully but always seems like trial and error! Thanks for a great series of videos, its much appreciated!

Thank you! Soldering dissimilar metals is always a challenge, white metal low temp solder does not work with brass or stainless, so those need to be treated first in order to bond them to the white metal. Typically you need to tin the brass with normal solder, then attach using the low temp solder.

Great channel! Just started building these kits! What are you using to fill parts that leave gaps? I trying milliput or apoxie sculpt. Thanks. Im looking at engine block pieces that leave gaps

Depending on the defect or gap to fill, I will use solder, two part epoxy filler or polyester filler.

Question! I'm new to this and bought a couple of very pointy Hakko tips, since the chisel tip that came with the iron seems a little clumsy. I'm learning that the iron has to be really hot for the finely pointed tip to melt the solder. But the problem is: I can't get a useful amount of solder to stay on the tip to apply it to my work. Did I need to tin this new tip first, or what? I'm also waiting for delivery of a curved tip like yours. Thanks!

This solder will not tin the tip very well, just be sure the tip is clean and it may help to tin it first with some normal solder.

Hi, could you please confirm the type of jig you are using for the 1/9 scale moto at the end of the video? I ahve a few jigs, and use 123 blocks, but am always looking for new methods and tools. Thanks for the great videos. And yes, courage is key.

I think it's called the Motojig, I got it on EBay.

@@motorsportinscale2291 Thanks, I saw this jig and it's marketed as for 1/12, but looks like it can be used for 1/9 as well. Fantastic content, and model skills. I have way too many MFH kits for this lifetime, but I'm working my way very slowly through them.
