Excellent video mate Thabks However would it work over a major seventh or a half diminished or something not just major or minor? Or would you use extra notes ie 7th for 7th chord etc etc

Steve how would I play A major pentatonic in shapes 2,3 or 5 since those shapes dont use a pinky finger in the beginning, would I still go down the fret board to three frets down ?

Lol First , He is demonstrating to you what will turn out for you to be a meaningless or useless concept thats not meant to be taken litterally ! He is simply showing you the concept of using triads to outline chord tones, which very quickly will cause an enexperienced player tp get frustrated and or confused, which Greatly enhanceces the chance that you will sign up for his paid lessons. What he is saying is Technically Correct but this clown is a master of leaving out key information but looking on the surface like he is explaining it all.....Nobody (not even him) approaches lead guitar this way !..The C-F-G-A Triads or Notes are all within a Simple C Major scale .. Scales are harmonized in a way that you dont need to chase chords ! Im saying this and you can watch his video on Modes where he himself (Steve Stine) saying how rediculous chasing all these chords really is ! Everybody needs money sure but videos like this only Targets people who dont know the reality of whats being taught. Want proof of my assertions? Watch and listen to the video (CONFUSED BY MODES? MASTER THEM TODAY) LISTEN AT THE 3.30 MARK TO 5 AND YOU WILL HEAR OUR FRIEND REBUKE ANYONE THAT TAKES THE APPROACH HES SHOWING YOU TODAY. TRIADS = REALITY....REALITY=MONEY

Chasing chords sums up this approach beautifully. If you stick to resting on harmony notes, especially the tonic as Steve demonstrated and connecting the next chord tone (tonic) with scale notes you will never hit a "sour" note. You start by learning where the tonics are for each chord in the song and rest/vibrato on them only. Watch Steve's video again. It is excellent.

I haven’t been playing for a long long time but somehow circle back to Music theory every now and then. The way you pieced this together is so clear and is exactly how it should be taught. Breaking down the diatonic scale into digestible pentatonic chunks is The way. It makes you sound musically more elaborate than a tonal center single pentatonic box over a progression. All the different flavors of pentatonic modulation coming to life with a diatonic richness. So cool. Thanks man.

Steve, I have really learned a lot from your videos. I am 63 years old, started playing when I was 32 and only played chords until two years ago. As you can guess learning lead licks and soloing has been and continues to be a challenge. I would love to see you focus a lesson or two on E major blues leads and E minor blues licks. It seems to me almost all RU-vid teachers focus mostly on A minor. I do appreciate your teaching style and again I have and continue to learn more than I ever imagined I could from you. I love playing and will paly as long as my fingers will move. Thanks.

Steve I sub to GT and JustinG, also use a myriad of YT and book resources. Hands down , you are THE BEST guitar teacher/instructor bar none. In my life I've known a few teachers/instructors in different disciplines with an exceptional gift, but they're the rare exception. Your ability to communicate concisely yet so clearly a complete understanding of whatever it is you're teaching thoroughly impresses me any time I watch your tutorials. Thank you for being you, and thank you for sharing your gift.
