Many of us will not have heard the term prolapse until we experience a problem. But what exactly is a prolapse? And why are so many of us at risk?
The primary cause of prolapse is weakened or damaged pelvic floor muscles. Responsible for supporting each of the pelvic organs, when they are no longer strong enough to carry out this job effectively, it can result in one or more of the organs sagging, or dropping down, into the vagina/rectum. Scarily, it is estimated that 1 in 2 women over the age of 50 will suffer with some form of prolapse.
There are various different types and stages which represent the prolapse severity. For some of us, the symptoms will be so mild that we won't even visit our doctor. However, even where this is the case, it can still significantly impact on our physical and emotional wellbeing.

Excellent, sensible advice, who wants surgery? Find the cause and correct it instead of treating the symptom. Many thanks.

Nice to see such a positive video. I’ve just discovered I have a prolapse. Couldn’t get a GP appointment for weeks but I decided to be proactive and I ordered my Kegal 8 yesterday. Thank you for all the information!

Christine Gitsham Hi Christine I had a hysterectomy about 26 years ago. I did start using the Kegel 8 and my doctor did see me and I was supposed to be followed up but of course with the pandemic that hasn’t happened. Unfortunately my cat was very poorly and I stopped using the Kegel 8. However I had a look tonight because I have been getting backache with gardening and heavy lifting, my prolapse looks worse! So I’m starting again tomorrow and I’ll let you know how I get on. I was intending to start again but this has spurred me on Suzie

I have been using Kegal 8 for 2 years and have used it consistently. I have tried every programme available and everyone has failed. My prolapse has gotten worse. The machine has been a waste of money and time. Sorry to write this as I did have expectations of improvement or at least no deterioration of condition.

Hi Sandra, I am so sorry to hear your prolapse has gotten worse. This could be due to the mA setting on the device being to high for yourself, which can cause your muscles to be overworked and tired. Please book a call with us so we can discuss how to move forward-- www.kegel8.co.uk/schedule-a-call

Thank you for the info. Yes..I had no idea about how serious these prolapse and how "Naturally accruing" it realy is. "NO ONE TOLD ME" not even my DRs!! Just had to go in yesterday. I am 51. I have had lower back and sciatica problems and limitations for about 30 years. Lifting too many heavy things in my life time. Did'nt know until yesterday that even a decrease in Estrogen can weaken the female pelvic floor. Or I would have taken estrogen supplements a long time ago. After an ankle injury Sept 2019, no weight bearing...things shifted! They said I have 5 prolapses...and I am at a stage 4 of 5 . I never noticed anything wrong. Constipation with Post Menopausal yes. ...is it too late for me to to help strengthen pelvic floor...more than I have been? Dr has fitted me with a pessary. And I have an appointment set to discuss possible surgery in April 22nd..I can not go in any earlier than that cause I have Total Knee Replacement surgery on March 12th!! UGGG =) any advice, more than you have given would be greatly appreciated.

@Deirdre Morris I see a pelvic floor therapist but im so full of anxiety. She told me that I have a hypertonic floor along with my prolapse . Is this possible? . I thought the spasms came from the prolapse . Sex burns and it feels like a brick wall is in my vagina . Is this from the prolapse or could it be a hypertonic floor. Help me . Im so confused bc my pelvic floor therapist doesn't want me to do kegals but a prolapse is from a weakened pelvic floor . If you have any insight . I would really appreciate.
