@MARSHA POWERS A smile back at ya for your kind words. I found "was a drummer" to be an interesting choice of words. If you ever have the opportunity to build a home there's a worthwhile additional expense in adding insulation to every interior wall, ceiling and floor. We raised 3 sons without having to ask them to be quiet when they're not wearing their space suits. Cheers for the Great White North.
Thank you so much. I have been having this problem where my victims will try to scream and I was worried that someone would hear. This works perfectly. Great vid btw! You just earned yourself a subscriber!
the ways provided here are not really helpful. the first and the cheapest way of soundproofing is to seal the gap for the windows, doors with the "closed cell foam".
One of the Best Ideas of SoundProofing is "SoundProof Curtains" it actually Block outside Noise coming from Windows. Check Here: livesoundproof.com/best-soundproof-curtains/
Bang on mate, noisy neighbours is exactly what I need to stop, thanx mate xx I'm a home owner with mortgage so many regrets with neighbours but u gave me hope xx
Most of things listed in this video can also help if you have a poorly insulated room. I live in a old house and have at least one room that isn't very well insulated, hanging up a blanket against the walls can help a lot especially during the winter.
Quilted moving blankets hung on walls really helps. I live in an apartment with thin walls anx just stapled them up. They also come in lots of colors. White noise too, like a fan. 👍😊
SAMMEE 😔✊ my singing prof said that the first step to singing well is to get your voice OUT and to sing with your chest, mega loud, but I'm embarrassed my whole family will wonder where the dying donkey sounds are coming from if i start belting 😥😥
My advice after hours of watching more videos about cheap soundproofing: 1. Start with easy things like adding a door sweep, sealing gaps with acoustic sealant, heavy curtains, one video even claimed putting heavy 'soft' furniture against your wall helps lessen the vibrations of it. 2. if you are allowed to put screws in your walls (and they are straight) MUCH better than using mattrasses, fabric or even reinsulating: buy 5/8" (1,6cm) thick drywall, put some green glue on it, then glue and screw it to your wall. It only takes off 2cm of your wall, is clean, not expensive and not as hard as it sounds especially if with 2 people. Only downside is the screws and I suppose its not that easy to remove. Ceiling is possible too. 3. acoustic panels are a waste of money unless you use them for sound treating which is something else entirely
Look guys, if you want to soundproof something you'll need to add thick materials to your walls/ceiling/floors and leave no gap unsealed. It's no joke. That's the only way u'll have good soundproofing
Me too, it’s like 11 at night and I don’t want my parents to hear me and you can hear EVERYTHING throughout the whole house so no singing privacy for me :(
Thanks! I like to play REALLY loud music in my room, a lot of the time in the evening. My family doesn't really like it tho... I'll try to hang up some towels and blankets/duvets to try and save my families ears hahaha You seem really professional, I love how articulate and well researched you are. Wish you the best man!
Excellent! Very clear explanation detailing the different methods of soundproofing. There are many videos out there which talks about insulation instead of isolation. It is rather confusing as they do not title their videos accordingly. Thanks for taking the time to do this video!! Great job Deangelo!
You can buy new moving blankets pretty cheap and they are thick and heavy. They absorb a lot of sound. You can also use them to deaden a room's reverb when it affects recording quality. I bought several for about $8 each at Harbor Freight.
First video I have seen of yours. And I must say. You have a great voice. You explain things carefully using simple words. And your video is very informative. I cannot believe you (currently) only have 500+ subs. *thumbs up and subscribed*. Thanks for the great vid :)
LOVE this video. Relaxing, professional voice and he did not ramble like so many other how-to videos you watch. He gave all the details needed and kept it concise. Would definitely hang out with you if you were unlucky enough to live in Texas. I am shooting a short film in a room that has roosters outside. Yeah, roosters. Going to use your tips. Wish me luck.
This is interesting. As an educator who worked with Special Needs Students for 20 years or even Gifted children with ADHD Or Emotional Disorders, I can see Teachers using some methods to lessening distractions.
I'm a musician in a concert choir and all state choir. This is very helpful with this. My renter wasn't super happy with my singing so this was awesome!
Thanks for this video. I want to enjoy my sound of my home theater without disturbing my neighbours and was looking for some solutions. Your video was helpful and informative!
I really like the way you explain looking at the camera. It gives the feeling of a direct conversation and seems like you really care about helping the viewer. Thanks! :D
Hi dude you speaking so smoothly and without using utmost energy but still your voice is heard to fluently....could you please tell me how this has been possible ?
Door Sound Proofing Idea: A door frame that goes over the door frame -- a metal hinge screwed into a stud near the door hinges themselves (but some rubber washers perhaps and a rubber sheathing between the hinge and the new frame). The frame will be an insulated box with foam. The idea is that the frame will shell the door's size exactly plus an inch on all four sides. Then around the shell frame, wrap it with an inch or two of insulation so that also it touches outside of the cracks of the door to trap the sound coming through the 4 spaces around the door. Thoughts?
Hey scott at first I thought that you have millions of subs because of the quality of your vid but when i looked at your subs you just have 600 im curios why you dont have millions so here to thank you for a usefull vid i just subbed
so ive just recently moved in with my mom again, my house is big but the walls are thin and ppl can hear everything i say in my room all the way from first floor. i realised that i cant voice act with her around (i do leeewd voice acting) or even call my discord friends cuz we tend to talk about mad tingz yknow. ive barely called my friends/done voice acting the past 3 months and im at my limit so no matter how much it costs im boutta make my room hella SOUNDPROOF.
I plan to purchase a mobile home to live in a very strict beautiful mobile home park. In my present house, which I am moving out of, when I arrive home at any time, my dogs, however, two American Eskimo miniatures, HOWL LOUDLY, so that all my neighbors know I'm home. This is a running joke in my neighborhood, "Bernadette's home now." I desperately need to soundproof wherever I live next or even just sound proof a big dog cage. Thank you for explaining the science of it all. And, BTW, your voice is worth a million bucks! Record some "meditation videos" to get started making money, AND get into the entertainment business and market your beautiful, articulate, soothing voice!
I have a sun conure and his loudest screams can get around 4000 Hz. I've found for cheap materials to help dampen this are towels and if you can Jean material. I found a stack of 10 thick towels works to cut the sound from the bird in half. I cover two sides of the cage with this layering to help reduce the sound.
I’m trying to hide a rescued miniature rooster in an apartment with thin walls, in which the realty office that deals with my lease is right below the room I’ll be keeping him in, and my neighbors are two crusty Karens who are nosy af...this is super helpful and I’m very grateful for the tips!!
One up on this...instead of a mattress collection on your walls, do very condensed shelves of stuffed animals! Books work well too! Do Both! Easy to dust books and easy to shake dust off of a stuffed animal plus looking at cute teddy bears and reading ..who doesn't love that!
Thanks for the video 👍🏼 I've got a tricky one for you. I want to build a home theater in my concrete-floor-heated basement. Since the floor is concrete, I'm concerned base would travel through the whole house. I thought I'd build a new floor and support it with rubber grommets, i.e. silent blocks. But since I've got floor heating, I need heat to flow from the floor to the air within the room. Anyone up for the challenge? 😁
Hey, for this you may want to double up. Build your floor, but also put the subwoofer on a platform also on rubber. The bass vibrates through the platform, which goes through the false floor with less intensity.
The great thing about this is, I'm trying to practice the trumpet without pissing off my neighbors. So I just took tip #1, and threw a comforter blanket over myself while I practice.
