As a native English speaker, I totally didn't realise that we did these things, but you really nailed it. We do these things we don't even realise we do!
@@jenlewis3133 Yeah. 100%. I suppose I enunciate my Ts a little more than the average North American, because I used to speak British English and retained parts of it, despite my accent having changed significantly over the years, but I totally didn't realise how much we really fuse words.
So true. I do all of these but i never knew they fall under the category of connected speech. Im learning more about the english language when watching these videos
I'm learning English since 7 years but not much improvement in my vocabulary but seeing Marina ma'ams videos I get encouraged to learn English always..
Most of the Indians have same issue😅 actually reason is our native language is Hindi and we think in Hindi then convert it into English and this process takes time and thereby making us hesitate while speaking and we hardly feel problems in writing English..
I'm american but i say center. Actually, i find it uuuuhgly when people say cenner like tf is that. Hahaha but it's probably just my area that pronunciation is uncommon (northeast?). I feel like the people who say "carmel" also say "cenner"
@@robusterbrown1291 that's because "th" is an entirely different thing from "t" (it used to have its own character (actually two, one for the th in thy and a different one for the th in thigh), back in the day). Of significance in this matter, most English speakers, if their dialect doesn't pronounce the word-central t, don't actually say a "d", but a glottal stop, which is more closely related to an "h", interuptting the airflow in the throat before it even Gets to the mouth. Which makes sense, given that a "d" is formed Exactly the same way as a "t", except that for the "d" you also vibrate your vocal chords (and in most dialects, if there is a vowel Immediately after the "d", it is also lengthened. Same for "b" and "g")
@@laurencefraser yeah the problem with t between vowels is that to say it as a T requires you to stop voicing in the middle of a word, which interrupts flow.
the feeling that you're understanding almost everything is amazing but to speak and write it's a little difficult yet bc idk what words to use. btw you're a great teatcher! hi from Brazil
Great tips, Marina! As an English teacher myself, I feel that "linking words" will come naturally once the learner reaches a certain level and shouldn't be forced. For example, a learner shouldn't learn "gonna," but should just learn, "going to."
Marina, Loads of thanks for helping me to improve my English thoroughly. Your lessons always pep me up to learn English as ever! I always adopt what you taught us.
I am an american and we love accents!!! so if you are afraid because you have an accent do not worry, you will have people asking you how to get your accent.
@@xerxesblanche yeah We really like accents even other native speakers accents like Australian or English and even though it’s really common nowadays we are all really happy people enjoy our language
Most America’s can’t recognize our own accent(s), so we love hearing others, it’s kind of fascinating if you compare it to Britain who find having an American accent not that cool or anything like that lol
Marina is my favourite teacher so far, she has taught me alot during this lockdown thanks ma'am, May God always bless u n brng success to ur lyfe ,😍😍😍😍much love 4rm Uganda🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬
Respected Mam, I use to see at least 1 video of your channel everyday. In just one month I experienced that my efficiency of talking is increased. Now, I use to end my day by listening your sweet words. Thanks mam for taking efforts and for making this language more interesting for us.😊✌️
I love watching your videos even as a native speaker, because it helps me realize what I do in my every day native tongue and helps me better carve out my Spanish skills.
I learned so much with yours videos, Marina. This summer I was learning English many times with this form. And I prefer the American accent because It sounds so different, so... It's great.
Started watching English movies and TV shows . Trust me that works . I've learned a lot in past 1 year . Now I can understand American native speakers pretty easily, and even can speak . So, now I started learning British accent . It's going really good. So, if I need anything more, I have linguamarina . ♥️
Since I've been watching your videos and lots of movies with English subtitles on my problems with understanding natives become less and less every day. Thank you for all those videos you regularly upload and generally all the great content you produce :) Loads of love from Germany^^ (Besides, I've learned 'loads of love' from one of your videos and use it really often^^)

Hey Marina, I'm from India and I usually speak fast in English but nobody understands me as I can't speak words flawlessly together without hesitating and interrupts. When I use slang words, they don't get me. What should should I do? You're a admirable mentor. So, I'm hoping that you'll reply me. I'm a teenager and I'm determined to learn how to speak fast.

First thing first is listening. I try to speak English with my 2yo son. I need an experiment. But it's so effective, my son absolutely knows what I mean. Everyday English is must.
I’m a BIIIIIIG FAN of linguamarina❤️❤️❤️ you’re soooo sweet and always make awesome videos ❤️❤️❤️ thanks so much!! Btw, my cousins live in Palo Alto!! They are native speakers. I’m from Myanmar(Burma) and I’m teaching them Burmese at the moment XD. Love, Akaree x
You are always sharing your experiences to ielts learners and I am no exception. Never stop to share your video Marina. And also I have question for you what should I do to enhance my knowledge from English. Which accent you really appreciate American or English one?
I understood everything you said or at least 95% , your pronunciation is clear and the speed is perfect for beginners english speaker like me, but I struggle every time I have to listening native speaker in my job because they speak fast and use slang and when that happens by phone is worst. Thanks for your usefull videos , you are the best . ( Sorry about my writing skills , I did my best)
Hay, Marina ! Hope you're having amazing day 💗 I really appreciate your hardwork especially for finding the short clips of every words of the same accent your videos much better of other's ❤
Omg I really like how Marina inspire me with her passion in English 😍 I wish I could become a part of her team bcz I love the way Marina work 🥰 And I hope I can become this kind of person ^^ So inspiration ❤️
I remember I used to work with a French guy that moved to the US and while he spoke decent English, he didn't understand the nuances of the language so if we wanted to mess with him we'd say, "fuhgettaboutit". He had zero idea what we were talking about. It was kinda funny. He was a good sport.
