My best advice: Be good at geography! When you ask them where they are from you can instantly talk about that region etc. They will be stunned about your knowledge and like you more because you talked about their region. Only works when they are from a different place so at college or when traveling

i can attest to this. I'm born and raised in MA, but I went on a road trip all the way to and from TX for the very first time a year ago, and explored a lot of beautiful places over there. i had endless stories coming back. there was a point in time I met a couple different people over the last few months that were from TX, and I talked to them as if I were from there. really good way to make them feel like home.

If you enjoy being shy, and want to stay that way, that's perfectly fine, but of you don't like it and want to be more sociable, then yeah you basically have to become another version of you, because who you are is literally just what you tell yourself you are, you can easily become a different version of you, nothing is stopping you except yourself an your preconceived notion of who you believe to be, but it's just a belief you hold, and when you feel like a belief you hold doesn't serve you anymore, then it's time to get rid of it.

Ever since I started going to the gym, my life has gotten consistently easier and better. My ability to be social, my confidence, and my self awareness has just increased. I've been able to break away from being an NPC and now I feel like a person. Now I worry less and I just do things that I want with little to no anxiety to hold me back. Obviously I still have self doubts about a lot of things, but I'm more sure about myself and my decisions, so making a choice is less demanding of my mental health. It's been great, 10/10, go to the gym you guys.

Totally agree here - Let’s say you’re at a networking event (Boring convos mostly), I just rip a bunch of caffeine for excitement then go in with a goal. If it’s a networking event, I’m gonna talk to 5 new people to try and connect on LinkedIn. If it’s talking to random girls at a bar, I’m gonna try and get their number. I won't lie, I just thought that I hated talking to people and I wasn't interested in them, but in reality I think its a combination (like 70/30) of low self-esteem because I doubt my own social skills, making social situations stressful, and just normal introversion. Confidence about one's social abilities can go a long way. Once you start doubting that, it becomes a spiral; you become anxious in social situations, making you panic and make mistakes, "proving" to yourself that the doubts are true. Once you break out of the cycle you can make gains. What goes on in my head is: "this is scary, I don't know what to say, I'm probably not interested anyway, I should just dip, I can't do this". I realize that the third statement is just a cope for the first two.

I disagree. I don't think you need to incorporate every single one tip to your kit, this specially. The second story he told irritated me greatly. It was overly bombastic, and it didn't sound very genuine. The language sounds very cool kid-ish. Surely you can improve your storytelling and add some ornament, but it doesn't need to be that exaggerated. If it doesn't come naturally to you, don't force it too much. That depends greatly on your goals, though. If you're looking to improve your flirting or acquainting with many people, I guess it's okay. But if you're just socially awkward or want to make a couple of friends, then it just may be better to be yourself, bring something to the table and making sure to keep the conversation comfortable and enjoyable (like asking questions and all the other stuff the guy in the video mentioned).

If you ever don’t know what to say, simply repeat the subject of the other persons last sentence in a questioning voice. E.g.: „I went to Aldi to buy groceries yesterday“ „groceries?“ Keeps the conversation going 100% of the time.

Likely gonna get lost in the comments but for the 3 people who find this comment this might save you (mild yap session incoming) One thing people forget when trying to talk to people is to see if they SHARE THE SAME INTRESTS AS YOU. Even I was genuinely caught off guard when I realized how easy it is to talk to people I've never met in my life who like the same things I do. Like soccer? Join a camp to socialize with other people. Like planes? Join a club and you can start a conversation from literally anything. One thing you need to keep in mind is that results are never instant; they never are when it comes to making completely new friends. Also, I did all of this in high school and I cannot tell yall if this is practical in a working setting. But if you happen to still be in school, I'm telling you 2 things: Join as many clubs as you can and GTFO of RU-vid or any social media; It literally sucks the soul out of you. TLDR: Join groups of people who share the same interests and go tf outside :)
