The last tip is really helpful I needed to hear that, I tend to talk fast and I really deep down inside of me hate it
@SuperKaner1
@SuperKaner1 5 лет назад
There's a channel by a voice coach called Jay Miller, he's very good. I have recently completed one of his free courses which concentrates on slowing down your speech. The jist of it is that you cant simply tell yourself to slow down, without finding yourself naturally speed up again. Instead, you should practice "competing behaviours". Habits that make it hard to talk fast, such as speaking with your mouth a bit wider, breathing deeply into your belly when you reach a comma or the end if the sentence, and trying to relad the shoulders and jaw when you speak. This makes it more difficult to speak quickly, and as a result, allows you to speak at a more deliberate, clear pace, which makes you appear more confident and self assured.
@MelodyChoi0143
@MelodyChoi0143 3 года назад
Same. I’m quiet but when I talk, I talk really fast sometimes people don’t get me once. When I start talking once and to repeat it again would make me really hate myself too.

Oh, I love how he mentions his 10 second pause before speaking. That’s massively powerful when interacting with an audience and it builds the excitement and desire to know what’s about to happen. Basically it stops people from being distracted with their phones or their conversations. Really neat idea!

I have almost never been taken seriously, even though I have innovative ideas that other people sometimes snatch as their own and receive the rewards for them. I know this is due to my voice - which sounds like a little kid (something physical I can't do anything about) and I also am extremely shy and don't know how to deserve success. I love these pointers you give. They are so sensible and practical. Thanks!

As my first job after graduating college, I worked as sales associate. One of the most meaningful take aways from your video and from my training was to always pause after “the pitch.” It put pressure on the client because people feel uncomfortable with silence and felt the need to speak to fill the empty space! I usually secured my sales that way! Tone was another important point that you mentioned and it seems very common among young adults and RU-vidrs. It’s very annoying!
@gabbymarquez1688
@gabbymarquez1688 4 года назад
My takeaway is the tone. Speaking with more authority. Now for me...in person speaking face to face I have more authority...but over the phone it’s like I’m timid. Plus having to go ummmm and/or like does really sound very below but I can’t help it. It is something to master. I am dying to sound confident over the phone.

As a youtuber, I know how important it's for us to speak with confidence. I knew that I need to improve my speech but it has been so difficult, watching your videos gave me what to focus on. Know what you speak about, be confident for what you're saying, breath when you need and do it when you don't know what to say. Lastly, a person said that I don't speak like a man, it touched me and I ask how I should speak, 'she' start giving example and she almost killed me. Lol. 25 Oct 23, hopefully to come back in a few years later and see the difference I made.

I relate so much to the social anxiety. Here I am 4 years later taking acting classes and speaking in front of people. Don't get me wrong I still have anxiety but I've learned how to cope with it and how to calm myself down:) I still have a long way to go but then again you can never really get rid of feeling nervous, but you can definitely find ways to control it. anyway good luck to others out there with anxiety!:) you can do it!

The other week when I was lining up for maths outside of the classroom, I saw my one of my friends who I hang out with at lunch getting pushed around a bit by one of my other friend's friend. I had no idea what to do because the guy who was pushing my friend was obviously just being sarcastic and having fun, but my friend looked really uncomfortable and really anxious. I over analysed the situation and before I knew it, it was already over. I felt like a total coward. I couldn't concentrate that lesson because I was too busy thinking about what I had done, or rather, what I hadn't done. A couple days later, I heard that the same guy had been messing around with my friend again, taking his stuff or whatever, so I decided to just man up and confront him. After the lesson before lunch I walked up to him and told him that I heard about what he had done. I'm around average height, but I don't have a very imitating appearance and this guy was much taller than me, so he obviously didn't see me as much of a threat. He didn't really take me seriously probably because although I spoke with facts, I didn't speak confidently. I don't have any social disorders or anything, but when doing stuff like this, I get really, really nervous. I couldn't stop my voice from shaking, I could stop stuttering and pausing, my head was getting hot, my throat was contracting and hurting and I sounded like an absolute idiot. He just told me that I didn't know sh*t and walked away. I haven't heard of him picking on my friend since, and I talked to my friend about him to see if he was alright. He just seemed to see him as annoying. I still feel like I could have done more to protect my friend, and although this happened a good month or so ago, it still gets to me. Thanks for reading if you got this far, and if you have any advice, say. Thanks Success Insider!

Your a really good friend for sticking up for your friend. I would say don’t care how it was done as long as it was done. Meaning that with your voice shaking or not you still did it and I think that takes a lot of courage. And you still did something to help your friend so I think you should feel proud of yourself. I haven’t been in a situation like this before because…well honestly I’m the friend that would get picked on. So I know if you where my friend and I was getting picked on, and you stand up for me, I would be really touched and happy to have a friend like you. Have a good day!

I overthink a lot about how others perceive me and this limits my ability to share what I truly believe in, worrying that I might offend them so each time I speak I tend to filter some of the ideas they might misunderstand. But I realized I'm not really making a point nor an impact in their lives. I just wasted the opportunity to really connect to the person... thank you for this eye-opener.

Visit Brad Yates EFT (emotional freedom technique) on Overthinking. The realization that a lot of people have overthinking issues are because of blockages in our body. Tapping softly the meridian points using several fingers very much like acupuncture without the needles, helps release energy that’s been blocked much like what happens with the concept of a dam.

Social anxiety is a monster! It acts in your heart making you feel so afraid and scared all the time that’s what some people get depersonalization. I’m always afraid or in fear of what people will think of me because maybe I’m not contributing anything to the matter at hand. I wish we were thought how to not give a fuck in life! I have social anxiety I have tried everything to fit in but it’s so hard. Taken any form of medication for it will make it worst cos it doesn’t last. I have tried that as well. I’m trying this steps to see what happens.
