Hi Joe, I just pulled my video on how to splice Tachyon off of RU-vid because, even though I had lots of views, it was a method that was much harder to bury than your method. From here on out I am telling everyone that they should do it exactly like you do it and stop doing the old double-braid method. Thanks for the excellent tutorial!
Hi, in this case he tapered slightly too much at the end of the spliced back cover. If you taper a bit too much, it´s creating a thin spot. If you taper to low, then you get a thicker spot. Just perform the 100 % inspection. If the spLIFE is not within tolerance, cut it off and make it new. Then it´s safety relavant. If it is within tolerance, it´s OK. I hope that helps?
Would you explain more on why you reduce the core with a 50% strand removal? Other Tachyon splicing videos do not taper / reduce the core up that far. Obviously, this method makes burying the crossover and finishing the eye far easier than the methods without the reduction of core strands. Are these two different methods for different proposes? Thanks for any insight.
Hi , this is the only approved and certified method to splice the Tachyon. We have launched this "new" method several years ago to fulfill the European standard EN1891A... any other method isn't probably fulfilling European standard especially when we speak about the dynamic testing.
