@@violet3430 so you suggesting to buy from people who ordered from wish and aliexpress so at least they hand picked crystals with no glass bubbles in em?
This is perfect. I bought one on Etsy that said it was a blue calcite crystal. I unwrapped it and blue dye got on my hands....I am waiting for a response from the seller from wanting to send it right back
The refund it seems is being denied because I left the seller 1 star -they have sent me 5 messages of how wrong my review is, etc. I am thinking I will take the $15 loss as a lesson in dealing with unprofessional folks. Sheesh!
I found so many fake crystals after your series!! Thank you sooo much! Even the videos where ppl mix up crystals, that helpedme purchase the correct crystals soo much! Last, can you do fake bumblebee jasper, picture jasper, or Caribbean calcite
This was such a great point of reference as I learned a great deal from watching your video. Now I have a better idea on how to spot fake crystals. Thanks for sharing!
Gosh girl you know your stuff! So much information to take In and things I didn’t even know to look out for, didn’t know larmiar couldn’t have light pass through them differently be keeping eye out for fake ones great video x
Really useful! Essential for newbies, esp just to be aware of which stones to look out for fakes, since you don't know yet which ones SHOULD be expensive ... Thanks for making this series! I wish I had found it earlier ... The clear quartz text thing is one of the first things I learned and it's a lifesaver! A note: the magnification is VERY subtle, find text that has at least 2 lines of the same size above each other, so you can slowly pull back and compare the size. Glass will magnify it REALLY slightly. And this of course only works if you have a flat plane (like a side of a point), all rounded planes will refract. Another thing with calcite vs quartz, clear calcite makes text appear doubled. So cool!
So glad you found it helpful! Yes all of these are great points! I love to buy my clear quartz with imperfections vs. completely clean! And calcite will for sure have a waxy look!
Your videos are the absolute best! You're so clear with your details, they are really helpful, I love that you show images to compare and I feel like you're a really ethical person for just doing this. Thank you!
You and your channel are oddly and insanely FASCINATING!!! I don't even collect crystals. I think I have, like, three tiny tumbled anonymous rocks somewhere in one of my junk drawers... but I can't stop watching your crystal videos! THIS video was REALLY interesting.
You seriously always have the best crystals!! I want to start buying some crystals and this video is super helpful. DIdn't know about it being cold to touch meaning anything.
This was helpful, thank you! I swear my moldevite is real for the fact alone that the little bugger disappears and reappears as it pleases lol! Cheers! =)
Great video, quartz also has a different sound if you tap it against another compared to the sound glass makes (ems astro gems on youtube also mentions this and shows it ) lapis is another people love to dye and fake 🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍
Yes I will for sure continue this series! These videos take lots of research and post production so I don’t make them as much but I’ve got some more planned!!
One tip, don’t hesitate to drill the seller. A reputable seller should have loads of information about their stones and most are excited to share when asked. Be sure to ask where the crystal is from and what are it’s metaphysical and healing properties. Even if you already know the answer to these questions, these are good baseline questions to ask a seller, so that you can get a feel for their level of knowledge. A seller who is less knowledgeable will be more likely to sell fake crystals unknowingly.
This is super helpful I’ve been seeing a lot of fakes out there it’s hard to tell sometimes. Optical calcite can magnify words also. I always wondered why Moldavite was so expensive! Larimar is so gorgeous but also so expensive. I really appreciate this! 💗☺️👍💕
Yes it’s so funny optical calcite does exactly that a clear quartz wouldn’t! I know it’s so sad there are so many fakes and I hate people get suckered into buying them!
This is very informative. Very helpful for someone like me who loves buying gemstones & crystals. I am interested in Citrine & Torquise on how to spot fake.
This is such a cool video! Honestly, I always look for some cute crystals and it's sooo hard to figure out which ones are real, so I tend not to buy them at all, which is kinda sad lol. Thank you for sharing these amazing tips! From now on I can start actually buying crystals!
Of course I had to jump over to Etsy after watching this video. I can’t believe how many fakes of Moldavite are out there! You are saving me some serious money. Thank you!!!
I would love to see a break down of the different agates. And the different jaspers. I know that’s a tall order… but it’s hard to tell them apart and what they are worth.
I just watched your whole series. Thank you for these!!! I'd love to see you discuss Blue Aragonite/Amazonite/Caribbean Calcite and "Sea Sediment Jasper" 😡 I'd also to know about sunstone vs pink moonstone
LOVED your video!! Please also do a video on: Rose Quartz (it's so so so popular these days), moonstone, flourite, amethyst, adventurine, Lapis Lazuli, Canelian, Red Jasper, Black obsidian & Tourmaline. P.S. I am sorry that's a long list. I've recently gained interest in crystals but really scared to invest and find a fake for all my money, time and effort! Thanks a ton!!
Hey! I usually only tend to make videos on stones that have been proven to be faked! Have you come across any of these stones that have been faked? Let me know so I can do some research around them!
For the magnification of words through quartz, it all depends on the shape of the crystal or glass if it's curved it will magnify so this doesn't seem like a good way to tell if it's a real crystal or not.
This vid is helpful, especially me I have 14 quartz and I want to know if it’s real so I Watch this video and one was fake but the Others are real, again thank you so much❤️✨
Please note, one of the issues with Larimar is not so much fakes, but that larimar is a pectolite. Pectolite is found in many places and colors. Some people sell blue pectolite, which is almost exactly the same, but Larimar is a brand name from a certain mine. So larimar is a blue pectolite, but not all blue pectolite is larimar. So before claiming that any particular seller may have sold a fake larimar, consider that it may be a non-larimar blue pectolite.
Thanks for the Info:) It’s good to know that there are fakes out there and how to tell the differences between the fake and real crystals..Especially before someone goes to invest so much into what they think is true crystals:)
This is sooo great. I love that you’re smiling this series. Can you do this on Amber, Tiger Eye, Pyrite, rose quarts, moonstone, jade? ☺️☺️ and what are your thoughts on man-made stones like Opalite? I hope you can videos on these. 😃
how have i not discovered your channel sooner?! I have several crystals and hope to buy more as I get into my craft. The ones I have I feel are real (only one I'm not entirely sure on), but these kinds of videos will definitely help me in the future. I just have a couple of questions: Can you do a video about emerald, moonstone, and pyrite? I have two of the three and would love to know what to look for with them. Also, I found a seller on Etsy who's selling some of the stones I'm looking into buying, larimar being one of them. They state they get it from the Dominican Republic, but they're selling some of it really cheap, so I don't know if I can trust them or not.
I got my little clear quartz in Mexico and my poor crystal has fall off my desk so many times and it only chips sooo thank you! Now I have to check my other ones that I got here in the US
Hi, I appreciate your love of crystals and minerals. Please expand and clarify the Larimar information. Genuine Larimar doesn't neccessarily need to be completely opaque. Good Larimar may be translucent when held up to a light. This is found in "gemmier" pieces, so it's not as common as opaque pieces. I'm saddened that so many people are afraid that their Larimar is fake if it has any translucent qualities. Also, there are beautiful examples of Larimar in various greens. These aren't as fashionable, but they are sometimes exquisite. There are also beautiful pieces with dendridic hematite inclusions.
Hello Barbie! Thank you for this helpful video :) I have been seeing clear crackled quartz being sold out there. Will you be able to advise the difference between these crackled quartz and usual clear quartz? What are their difference in properties? I tried searching online but people don't do a comparison... :(
OH yes! So the crackle quartz is heated up and cooled down quickly causing the crystals to crack on the inside! It is still clear quartz, so the healing properties are the same!
I had no idea they had fake crystals, but I guess they make those fake like they do other stones. I’ll be sure to check reviews on Etsy first before ordering from anyone new. That argonite is beautiful. Those snowflake quartz do look pretty similar. I feel more confident in knowing what to look for now. Thanks for the tips!
The mohs hardness scale has little to do with a minerals tendency to shatter but is specifically linked to a minerals resistance to being scratched. Many hard minerals are brittle and/or cleave easily, some relatively soft minerals are quite tough and thus resistant to shattering/cleaving. The properties of toughness / hardness are not the same thing. A topaz for example isn't exactly brittle yet is quite likely to cleave if dropped on a hard surface due to a characteristic known as "perfect cleavage" the same is true for apophyillite and other zeolites, Some materials like jade, bowenite, agates and other quartz owe their resistance to shattering to their irregular molecular bonding. Whilst the exceptionally soft materials amber and soapstone are also quite resistant to blunt forces. Essentially the materials often seen to be carved are generally chosen for their relatively high toughness rather than Mohs hardness. The reasons for glass shattering are varied though many different types of glass are made, some of which are incredibly tough and resistant to shattering. Even a diamond could crack/cleave/shatter if you hit it hard enough. Long story short, dropping a crystal to determine whether it's real is a terrible idea.
So glad the video helped you! I got it from Urban Outfitters but they dont sell this exact one anymore! They do sell other tarot card that are more traditional though
I’m so happy people like you appreciate the authenticity of crystals. I can not stand fake “crystals” and I don’t quite understand why anyone would even want them. What’s the point if it’s fake. If you know any reputable sellers to buy from please do share. I’m so skeptical, I’m not sure who to buy from anymore. Thank you for bringing this issue up 💎🙏🏼
I love your videos! I have a couple questions. When you say make sure you are buying from a reputable dealer, what things should I look for to find out if they are reputable? Also I've heard people can feel vibrations from real crystals. I've never experienced it myself, so is it true crystals have a detectable vibration? Thanks for your help!
The larimar tips definitely opened my eyes up, I have a ring that’s supposed to be larimar but it does have some green and does have the white pool pattern, the light illuminates the stone but idk if larimar is supposed to light up like that?
Thank you 👍👌👏💜🙏 Great vídeo. Can I ask a question? When I rub 2 crystals together I feel like a fire smell is it normal? Can you tell us about other stones like Rose Q. And Green stones... are the raw stones better? Do they have highr vibration?
Never heard of it smelled fire with crystals being rubbed together. I don’t really rub my crystals together though. Rose Quartz isn’t typically fakes but it’s on my list to make a video of! Raw crystals are the best way to avoid buying fakes!
I knew this trick of dropping clear quartz before , and I tested my clear quartz tumble 1 year before when I purchased first time but my quartz was ok after dropping it it never cracked or chipped or broken . It's a genuine one and It's my baby now 🤗
