How to stain concrete counter tops Simple DIY!!!

My buddy Brian talked me into doing videos on my garage studio/remodel projects. I am building a kitchen in the garage for my studio. I used an acid stain and a bar topper sealer and the countertop came out awesome!!! Next step is to build the cabinets where the show will be filmed. Then we are going to build an island with a cook top. The stain was by Concrete Coatings it was their Vivid : Mission Brown www.amazon.com/VIVID-Acid-Sta...
The seal was a glaze that I bought at Lowe's: It is by Famowood. www.lowes.com/pd/Famowood-Gla... It was $25 and some change at my Lowe's.nn This was a great project and I hope you guys try concrete for your next countertop!

Nice! Thanks for the video. I made the mistake of using the concrete mix vs the mortar mix. Now I'm not digging the aggregate look. And I doubt stain will hide it. So now I plan on re-pouring the two tops with a non aggregate mix. That's cool your neighbor Brian helped out. Thats a good dude.

How long did you wait to seal after neutralizing the acid stain?

Can you use a acid to stain based on water and then use a epoxy resin to cover up? I mean it doesn't matter if the acid is based on water and the epoxy on oil??

I am sorry but I just saw your question. It is probably irrelevant by now but here goes. I let the stain dry completely and then added the bar topper. I will post a picture of it on my face book page if you are interested....it still looks awesome!!!

Hello......I was wondering if those were bubbles between 8:36 - 8:44? I thought the heat was supposed to get rid of the bubbles. Thanks.

They were bubbles. I didn’t get them all out , I guess because I used a hair dryer and not a heat gun but it still came out very cool. I made an island with a stove top using the same method and it came out awesome as well!!!

@@norabder1008 It looks great none the less. I have a customer that wants an outdoor patio table made. I'm thinking of doing a concrete table with stained wood inlays. What kind of sealer would I use for it being outdoors? Something with medium gloss to it. Like a Poly shine. Thanks!

@@vpord3396 I used that same bar topper on some corn hole boards and the were outside for years. It is very glossy though. I would probably just put several coats of a matte finish exterior poly.

Looks like a ton of pitting in the resin at the end. I would have gone with an actual concrete sealer instead of a resin coating. To each their own, though.

On the directions from the manufacturer it says to cure for 28 days. I was wondering if that was necessary, I don't want to wait.

Do you mean the concrete or stain instructions? I stained mine like a week or two after I made the countertop. I put a clear coat on it and it looks awesome. So far so good. I built an island with a stove top as well.

Oh I wouldn’t have used epoxy to seal it. Epoxy is not durable and cracks in just a few years if exposed to sunlight.

I used it on corn hole boards and it lasted for more than five years without cracking or turning color, as a matter of fact, it was still good when I got rid of them. That was a bar topper on an indoor counter so I am willing to bet it will be good long after you are six feet under.
