Episode 39!
This is part II. I will link part 1 below.
In this episode we continue talking about starting a trade business. I've had a few questions about transitioning from an apprentice to a business owner. This will cover branding, logos, websites and how you come across to your potential clients.

Mate. These videos are my favourite. Without these fundamentals it doesn't matter how good your laser level is!🤣

Haha you make a good point, however there's a lot less business owners compared to people into tools so I'm trying to get the balance right 👌

Beennlooking for these kind of videos for the last 8 years haha can always learn or be reminded one thing i would add with your your customer base and location id rather drive to wollongong from south western sydney then be stuck in traffic into the city or northsore also most people down Illawarra way are way more layed back and easy to deal with

I don’t know if you have vehicles owned under your business name but I’d be interested in a video about that process. A lot of us tradesmen rely heavily on a service van/truck. Also, follow up work? Making good on your fuck ups without eating the cost completely. You’re in carpentry, do you ever have warranty on the materials you build with? Love the videos man.

Please keep putting up these videos! I’m 6 years into commercial generator service and repair along with 5 years of auto repair. I really want to venture out on my own. Every client I work with for my current employer says I should go solo. It’s a bit of a scary leap of faith without good information.

Hi mate, how did you go? Did you push it? Getting the same feels here, risky.

I'm going solo because fuck it, 3 years into auto repair.. Got a good idea and I'm ready to be a business owner. I want to employ people and pay them very well for their work. Then i'll scale it up, get statewide recognition, multistate, set the example, go public, fuckn change the world. lets gooo

Yeah it's a big jump. Can you start by doing some small jobs on the weekend etc? Start building a network before jumping in fulltime?

@@viking.designs I know a couple of potential cliënts. But they're the clients of my current employer. But because of the madness of a big company ie 5 bosses for 1 techie. We just don't get around doing anything. And everyone keeps leaving.

@@21belgam I want to start the same small business! I’m in Michigan and the power grid is terrible. Generator repair companies are essential. But here is my frustration, it’s not a trade many people are open lip about. Seems like most companies hold their trade secrets right to their chest and info on the web in limited. Plenty of info for electricians, plumbers, and auto mechanics… Funny that we both ended up here though. We have the same problems at my current employer. It’s hard to hold onto a good Gen tech.
