Well that’s because RU-vid became too greedy. Look it’s a balance. You have to use RU-vid as an advertisement platform. Make infomercials to direct people to your website where they can watch the longer form videos etc.
Inspiring talk, but he's forgetting a few things when dissing RU-vid: Hosting and traffic. That's essentially the service that RU-vid provide, and you DON'T want to handle that on your own, as that would practically require a business plan to compete with RU-vid. However, don't just rely on revenue from RU-vid, if you aim to become a millionaire or whatever. That's where selling products become necessary.
RU-vid cut a lot of people out of monetisation and will continue to frustrate creators. Hosting isn’t a big deal as you have flexible and scalable hosting right now with video streaming included. Most people still have to PROMOTE their videos using ads and do not get free traffic. There is no revenue from RU-vid anyhow and they do clamp down on people selling products too.
