I personally believe after watching these videos for months and months, Grant is the best golfer of the group. He has the most consistent swing, golf shots, and most importantly has the most poise. I don’t mean to drag on Garret, but it just seems the guy has more inconsistent tendencies as do all the other golfers. Tig is fun to watch, Matt brings competitive energy, bubbie brings the bubly spirit, and Steve… just the most consistently under performing anywhere other than on the dance floor. If you didn’t notice that groups makes for all time great content. Love it. Grant, I want your swing!

Old guy here (50...probably can tell by how long this comment is). With golf swings, the smallest idea or swing thought can sometimes turn on the lightbulb, and for me, it was this video saying to start the downswing just a beat early with the hips. It's a subtle move, and seems obvious. But something about how you described it sunk in. That little shift helps correct my weight lean and puts a proper focus on follow thru. I'm a 15 hcp who went out Sunday to a 6500 yd, average AZ course and shot an 81, with a water challenge setting me back 2 shots on 18, or I'd have had my first 70s round ever. I think the 30-40-50 chipping video may be equally helpful...just watched it, so we'll see tomorrow. Thanks! It's amazing to me how two young guys whose combined age is mine are so mature in approach to teaching the game. I've forwarded the links to everyone in my golf world. Thanks!

Hopefully I can learn some more about all of this on this channel. Appreciate the support guys!
@jonliming
@jonliming 2 года назад
I have a huge problem with this too. I either hit it straight right or slice it. I've been practicing feeling the top of my glove hand facing the target and that seems to square up the club face a lot more. This seems to also get my hands a little in front of the ball and "get on top of the ball"
@callmesubby
@callmesubby 2 года назад
I am by no means a good golfer but one thing ive learned that has helped more than anything is do not think about what your hands are doing during your downswing if you have a good LOOSE grip, and solid takeaway and weight shifting, your hands will follow suit and take care of the rest. it might be anecdotal, but ive found that once people start focusing on their hands, they grip the club way too tight and subconsciously try to get to the ball before their body does, which leads to inconsistencies like chunking, topping, pulling, pushing, etc grip, tempo, and proper weight distribution are the big 3 to focus on
@flyingpama
@flyingpama 2 года назад
My god, I was typing up the exact same question. Thank you for bringing this up. I always end up opening my club face on the downswing hitting the balls high right. Would love to see what club face should look like at each stage of backswing and downswing.
@XV-logs
@XV-logs 2 года назад
Don't worry about hands, just video tape your swing from directly behind and pause to check club face angle at each "phase" of the golf swing. If you're rotating body well, the best rule of thumb is to make sure your club face angle is parallel with your spine angle.
@planeiron241
@planeiron241 2 года назад
if you watch most pros their hands and forearms are rotating over at impact, this will make the club finish high and behind your head, coil up uncoil. keep your head down and through at impact, you have plenty of time to look up and see the ball flight..the closer to the green you get the more concentration is needed on staying down and through the ball, putting is no. 1 do not watch the putter go back or you will reroute and pull or push

This is what i needed, I tend to swing over-the-top and my weight is all jacked up. My weight was mainly off balanced on my toes, also swinging up on the ball ( trying to add loft.) Finishing you’re weight on the left side is very important too.

One of the best drills I've used to transition into the downswing is to have half a tennis ball under your left heel (for a righty), then just as you reach the top of your backswing push your left heel down to compress the tennis ball, and keep it compressed through to follow through. For me and others I've shared it with have gotten impressive resultls. Love the channel.

Garrett and Grant -- instructional videos can be hard to finish because one person is doing a lot of talking and is the only one demonstrating. Have to say, you guys do simplify things compared to others. I'm going to try these tips. In my 40s, I started golfing around 20 years old. On my 3rd golf odyssey. The lowest I've been is 12. I'm steep to the ball. No matter what I've done, I can not shallow my down swing. I throw right, bat left, golf right, hockey left. Right-hand dominant golf swing that doesn't use/fire/clear my lower half, and when I try, it's a complete mess.

Feel vs. Real is always interesting to me. I do enjoy the channel and think it's great you're starting to produce content to help other golfers. My only advice is that you stay away from feels. Feels are individual to the golfer and normally aren't actually what's happening in the golf swing. Gears technology shows that the hands are never really passive from the top of the down swing. It might feel like you don't do anything specific to you, but Gears shows the exact opposite. The hands pull straight down almost immediately from the top and maximum hand speed is achieved early on in the downswing. If this didn't happen, the club would never get back on plane. All that said, your points on the transition should allow golfers to feel more in sync and less stuck. As you noted, if the body goes too soon, it'll force the club face wide open, come over the top, and likely result in a slice.

I'm a 5 index where what Garret outlines, that "rush" (under pressure for me as well) keeps me from getting closer to scratch or winning more. Is there a mental picture to help put a stop to that? ...let's just call it what it is a "yip". I have a swing folks complement tempo wise, but I look like a 15+ when that tempo glitch creeps in. It's usually out of impatience during a round, or if a match is tight or I have to give a stroke on a hole. In short what do you do mentally when the "gremlin" comes out ??. Great instruction guys!
