I would recommend doing an initial burn on devices such as this outside your enclosed space so you aren’t breathing in toxic fumes from oils and coatings used during the manufacturing process. Maybe try getting a chunk of steel (like a 20lb cast gym weight) that could be heated up to retain and then radiate heat after burner is shut off, sort of hot water bottle style. And of course hot water bottle for in bed to keep feet warm!

Agreed! I should've burned it first in an open space. Thanks for the suggestions!

I’ve used the mini/micro buddy that runs of propane, first you MUST crack a window because of oxygen loss, secondly, I got sick from the fumes. I did security and spent long hours with it, Best way dress warm, run your car for 15 minutes, It won’t hurt the mileage idling, (keep the windows closed(there are air holes in cars that will prevent oxygen loss) and do that once every hour or two. Also, simply lighting a tea light candle with all the windows closed, again air holes. I keep my mini buddy for backup, but don’t advise too much propane inside even with cracked windows…. 😊

I put it over a tiny folding metal camp stove with can heat and also over a large crisco with 3 candles down inside and it heats up a medium tent well.

I'm now using a catalytic propane heater for the car. Since it is flameless, it does not put out any carbon monoxide and will run 7 hours on 1 lb. It's bigger than what you have there but smaller than a Buddy.

Camping lanterns have been most effective for me. I began with the iconic Coleman naphtha lantern. It was necessary to light the lantern outside then carefully carry it inside. Naphtha is the most economical, but most dangerous. Propane was easier and safer. Now I use a Primus butane Micron Lantern. It's smaller than a can f soup! It is tiny yet emits a lot of light and heat. Yes the butane canister must be warm for it to work.

That will keep you warm! Have you given any thoughts of installing a carbon monoxide detector? Stick a pan on top and it will get hot too, but help reflect some of the heat down, and add to the warm surface area. Great job! 👍👍

I have it for over 2 years now maybe same time with you. I used it for first time on my winter bikepacking trip to Orkney island. It was live saver as could heat my tent having it just outside of the entrance and could dry my wet boots and clothes. It did a really great job. Wouldn’t use it inside my Campervan tho.. it does look dangerously hot and could cause some serious troubles. But someone on a tent would recommend it 100%

I've got one like this. Mine is made of thick stainless steel. I'm impressed with it. Put it on full for about a minute then turn down to very low and the heat is excellent! Down side is gas gives off moisture and carbon monoxide. No issue if you have ventilation and enough heat/fresh air to drive out the damp air.

I thought about getting one of those,, not the cheapest model, but figured putting the kettle on for tea would warm up my minivan enough. I have a butane stove. If it was too cold for the canister, I would pop in under my 12 V heating blanket for a bit. Just having a candle in a jar will warm up a vehicle. Nice demo, but most people burn them outside to get off the residue first. :) Jon in rural BC, Canada

I use one of these with an small alcohol burner. I have a Webasto diesel heater in my VW T4 campervan but wanted to make sure I had a backup in case of problems when I was in very cold climes. I did not like the look of the coat of paint on the top section so I burned that off with a blow-torch before the first time I used it.

Actually coming up with a design for the propane stove that's like a wood burning stove but with propane. It brings outside air and heats it and brings it inside and the combusted air from the propane goes out the other side and it fits in the windows. Just roll up the windows and if you want to take it out just roll down the windows and take it out

Get an air quality monitor if you're going to do this. The gas stove is very close to you and puts out pollutants faster than a cracked window can handle. You'd be surprised how quickly CO2 climbs even in a ventilated home kitchen. CO2, CO, NOx and PM2.5 have measurable effects on health and cognitive function, even well below poisoning thresholds.

What about carbon monoxide build up? You're not supposed to use those propane stoves and in and enclosed area like that. And it burn up the oxygen? Unless you have the window open or something but then that just lets cold air in and it still might not be enough and still might burn up all of the air
