when I was washing my shin Tzu, and took her out of the shower, she started doing that so I pat on her back like if a human was choking and I did't know how to stop it
@@DrAdamChristman is it ok that when I seriously thought Snow my service dog was having an asthma attack. I gave her oxygen from my machine for a few minutes. I also gave her 2 puffs of my albuterol inhaler. We ended up taking her to the vet, it was going on for long periods of time back to back. I do have some vet tech training & what I do know I use. If I'm unsure of a human med that might help my service dog I won't use it. Come to find out not only was she having an asthma attack but also reverse sneezing as well together. My vet did state if I'd not given her the oxygen & the inhaler she might not have made it. I'd like to hear your opinion on this. Thank God it's not happened since.
Dedra Ambrose that’s always a great life saving tool on events such as an asthma attack. It’s very good you consulted with your veterinarian! Brava! 🐾🐾
@@DrAdamChristman thanks, like I said I do have vet tech training and know quite a bit more than a normal pet owner when it comes to emergencies with fur babies. Which I both love & hate at the same time. 1 example of hating what i know is, our cat Mischief was having a heart attack and I knew what needed to be done to save her. I had nothing to save her with. I did do CPR on the way to the vets office. She took her last breath in my arms, 1 to 2 minutes after we got there her heart stopped beating. I still blame myself for her death. But I to know there was nothing more I could have done to save her. Not without the meds I really needed. I'm tearing up just writing this here. I loved her so much. The fact she came looking for me for help & I couldn't help still breaks my heart. It's been 2 yrs ago now. I think it's harder on us who know what to do & all our efforts to just still lose them hurts so much more specifically if it is our baby.
“Smother him a little bit.. “ lol. My dog was just doing it and I was googling it to make sure that is all it was. Thank u for video. All three of u r super cute
You are a blessing to say the least to Bella, my half English half American Bulldog mix, as well as to the rest of our family! This worked instantly! Literally stopped her discomfort the very moment she went to take her next breath! She was ecstatic and began wagging her hind quarters and licking me like crazy ! Such a happy pupper! Thank you and your two fur babes for this video that I'm sure is providing so many pets and pet parents with relief!
with my whole entire heart & soul i THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for this video! you got to the point with important information & now i can finally help my girls (i have 2 pugs) when this happens. i'll never again feel so helpless anytime a reverse sneeze comes on! omg i really, really appreciate you. 💜💜
Thanks for the tip. I was freaking out when my dog starting doing this. It was the first time in 9 years, I've ever heard anything like this from her. Again, thanks!
Oh my goodness!!!! I have had my dachshund mix to the vet so many times in her six years. I’ve been in tears so frustrated that I couldn’t help her and didn’t know what was happening. Seriously I can’t thank you enough! She is my little shadow who has helped me through empty nest syndrome, losing my sweet momma, and helps me babysit my first granddaughter! Thank you from DaniJo the sweetest fur baby I rescued 6 years ago, only for her to rescue me so many times!
Thank you so much! My dog did that a couple of times already and the first few times I thought she was choking on something and got so scared. After a couple of times I realized it happens really out of nowhere and when I talked about that to my vet she didn't know what it was. My friend happened to walk her recently and saw that and told me it was revserse sneeze and showed me this video. I was speechless! I finally know what it is, know it's harmless, and know how to stop it! Thank you so much, it is such a huge relief!!
This is awesome advice! Works like a charm on my beagle mix, who like to reverse sneeze in the middle of the road. He freezes, and won't budge. This worked wonders.
Thank you so much for this quick and easy tip. I was so scared my dog was dying, now I understand what's happening and how to help her. I can't thank you enough for putting my mind at ease. You rock!!!
THANK YOU so much! I am from France and I knew something was up. I googled and immediately found your video on YT. My Chihuahua stopped her reverse sneezing! I was so scared but I didn't freaked out. I thought she couldn't breathe anymore!!!!
Thank you so much for this video. Our dog has had reverse sneezes his whole life, but they were always over in a few seconds, and everything was good again. Tonight it was one after another and my husband and I were starting to panic. Your trick worked perfectly! And although I’m getting major “side eye” from my pup, we are all relaxed and ready to sleep again.
I ran across your video doing a search on what is happening to my chihuahua/jack russel. Now I feel better. We adopted him a week and half ago from a shelter and we love him so much already. I was so worried but now relieved!
Thank you so much for your video. Our dog has done this in short fits occasionally most of his 10 years but tonight he wasn’t able to gag and swallow or vomit whatever was causing the spasm. We did your technique and after repeating three times (he passed gas each time) he had a productive retch, chewed, swallowed and was as happy as ever with no more “reverse sneezing,” as we now know it’s called. Thank you for saving us a sleepless night and potentially a visit to pet ER.
Thank you! Finally a solution! Great of you to share this with us! So many visits to the vet with no answers! Xrays of trachea for tracheal collapse, antibiotic medications for bronchitis/kennel cough, heart exams. You’re a rockstar! God bless you!
Thanks for the information. I feel so much better having watched the video. My dog only reverse sneezes in the summer months so I originally thought it was allergies.
Thank you! Maisie has been experiencing these reverse sneezes with greater frequency. When I first adopted her 2 vets assured me these were harmless, but the recent increase has had me concerned. I will give your method a try.
My chihuahua has been suffering from this for quite some time. He had another episode just minutes ago, so I used your technique and he was back to normal in about 3 seconds. Rudy and I thank you for sharing this!
Adam thank you so much you've the best. My pit bull Cali that we rescued 2 years ago starting doing this tonight. I was so scared. Did what you said and she is sleeping like a baby. I am so glad I found you !!!
Thank you ! Just help my lil baby she kept doing that weird breathing for a couple of minutes until I found your video and you helped me to help her !! Thank you and cosmo! ❤️
I stumbled into the video bec my dog did that thing this morning while we are walking. I was so scared and almost cry bec i tought she is going to" the worst thing to happen". this video relieved me. Thank you.
I clicked on this video over any others because your dog looks so much like my female dachund mix who passed away last Thursday💔 bitter sweet. Your dog is so precious♥️
Adam! I love you!!! LOL I have been so worried about my pitbull who does this. I just today finally figured out what was happening. All along I thought perhaps she was experiencing a collapsed trachea. I am relieved to find that she is reverse sneezing, and feel hopeful that this method will work to help alleviate her "episodes" from now on. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for showing us how to do this. When I got my new dog the first time I heard him do this I freaked out. I called the people and said what the hell are you doing giving me a sick dog, I can't afford vet bills for a dog with asthma. But the dog needed me so bad he'd come from a place where was not that great for dogs. So I decided to go online and see if I could find a home remedy. Was delighted to find this. Made sense to me. I studied it. Then we were at the park when it happened again and I was ready. Worked like a charm within 15 seconds. I was shocked. Now it's happened quite a few times I think because of stress, or allergies cuz they're so low to the ground, or even excited cuz they see another dog. But when he does it now he comes to me so I can help him. I have shown so many people how to do this and I hope others will do the same. Great information and I hope everyone spreads it. It's such a simple thing to do and a dog doesn't have to suffer and you don't have to feel like a bum if you can't afford the vet. Thanks again sir for all you did. my dog and I thank you.
Thank you so much my shin tzu has done this all her life not frequently but it's upsetting to watch and stressful for her I hate it when it happens. Now I no how to help her get over the reverse sneezes quickly so pleased I found your video thank you again for helping my lovely sweet dog clam down faster grateful.
Thank you so much for this video. I have 2 senior Chihuahua's. One of them started having this reverse cough a few months ago. I didn't know what it was. After researching online I came across your video and decided to give it a try. WOW!!! It works. I now do this every time she starts the cough and it literally stops it within seconds. Best video ever 👍👍👍
This happens to my Lhasa Apso on occasion. I remember being terrified the first time she did it! But it passed in a few seconds and everything seemed okay. After it happened 2 or 3more times over the next few months, I realised it was nothing to be too concerned with, It's been happening more frequently these past few weeks though, so wanted to look into it. This video is the first time I've seen it an another dog, and really glad to see how to help calm my pupper down when it does happen to her. Thanks! :)
Im a first time dog owner. Cooper just did this and I started freaking out!!!! I'm so happy this is OK. I was so ready to go to the vet. He's a 3 yr old basset hound mixed with beagle.
Thankyou. My Lovely doesn’t do this often but my moms yellow beagle does it all the time. I shared your video to her and many others because we love our babies and if you can save them that awful feeling as well as ours. I am greatful. Thankyou
Cosmo is the sweetest frosty face doxie ever!!! My senior ( 15 yr old doxie ) was doing this after starting some new herbs 🌿 so this was very helpful thank you!!
Thank you so much! I was terrified that my little chiweenie would suffocate or was having a seizure. You put my mind at rest and showed me a way to calm her down.
I have a 2 year old female yorkie, reverse sneezing is quite common with her. What I do is I take off her collar, rub her throat a bit, stay calm, and then do what you said. But this is very informational for people who don'r know :)
Awesome you see this is what social media is supposed be folks!!! My dog has done this a few times and it freaks me out cuz I thought he was choking nothing worse than your best friend hurting and you feel helpless God bless you sir!!
Thank you for this video!!! This works for both of my beagles when they have an episode of RS. I was getting ready to take both of them to the Vet before I saw this.
Ty. I'm 44 and I've had lots of dogs and my 18 month old started reverse sneezing a few months ago. First time I heard I didn't know what it was. We comforted him. And he calmed down. Now I know what it's called and what it is and how to help him when it comes on again. So thank you sincerely.
I saw this video last night. This morning my dog went into his reverse sneeze. I tried this and within seconds it was gone. Thank you for this! I didn't even get as far as plugging a nostril.
THANK YOU Dr. Cristman... I am from Center America and my baby and me has had suffering for this while looking a right diagnostic... I finaly get with this syndrome and nobody, any "veterinary doctor" here knows how to help us to fix it... until we find you, and We only want to THANK YOU...I hope to do not offending you to telling you that GOD BLESS YOU & CAREFUL, THANK YOU🤗😘😍🙏🙏
This is awesome info, thank you so much! We have a little pomchi and he does this when he gets too excited, eats too fast, or sometimes randomly (maybe from dust or other allergies) - someone else in the comments said they pat their dogs back as if they were a choking human hahah and I had been doing that (it doesn't help). My husband spoke to the vet about it and he said it was likely a flattened trachea, but this makes way more sense and is the exact noise he makes. Now I know how to help our little baby next time this happens!! It's such a helpless feeling watching them go through that. Thank you again for this video, from my family to yours! :)
@@DrAdamChristman omg, this worked like a magic charm!! Thank you so much!! Our baby has these episodes several times a week, usually lasting about a full minute. He has trouble calming himself down. But I tried this today when he ate too fast and had an episode, immediately after covering one of his nostrils he calmed down! You are awesome, really, we can't thank you enough :)
Thank you, thank you! I just adopted a 12 year old mini-dachshund from my local shelter. He's been with me 5 days and started doing this yesterday. At first I thought it was a seizure and it was scary. We both appreciate your video. Now if I can only get him to stop scratching! Warmest regards!
Excellent information! Thank you SO much! My dog keeps doing this and I felt so awful for him because I could see the panic in his eyes. Now thanks to you I can help him out the next time this happens! Thank you from Gus and I!
Thank you soooo much! I was just looking it up to show our puppy sitter and had no idea we could do this to stop the reverse sneeze! So much thank yous!!!
Thank you so much! My dog has been reverse sneezing for over an hour... he was whining and shaking and I was about to take him to the vet, I was almost in tears. But this trick actually worked! He is no longer reverse sneezing. Thank you so much!
thank you very very much!! my dog had this and i was in total schock thought he cant breathe... it stopped right after i did what u show in your video ♥
Thank you! My 13-year-old chihuahua does this occasionally and I was starting to worry about a collapsing trachea, but she matches other videos of reverse sneezing (and usually sneezes regularly a few times after one of these “attacks”). Massaging her throat and neck sometimes helps, sometimes not, but I’ll definitely try this method next time!
Thank you so much I didn't know what it was my dog does it in the middle of the night out of nowhere or just anytime it scares me half to death I looked it up and found you and you really help me I used to think it was a symptom of allergies or asthma I was about to spend like over $100 for real medication so thank you so much!!!!☺😊
Thank you so much for this video!!! I have a 8 pound cockapoo mix and whenever she has had an episode it freaked me out. This helped her and my worries. Really... thank you!!!!
Thank you for this! I knew what was troubling my dog as I do as much research as possible but I wasn't sure how to help him, he's a yorkie x shih tzu and it stresses me and my dog everytime he does this so thank you once again for the video, it really helped.
Thank you so much, I'm from Chile, and my little cocker spaniel started doing this a few minutes ago (it's 4 am) and I was so scared because I thought she was not breathing :( I'll try this if she start do it again tonight!!
Thank you for the video! I was up all night wondering if my dog had a collapsed trachea. Plugging one nostril worked after a few tries. Thanks for saving my sanity and sleep!
