UPDATE: Ignore last part of video about resetting with power hooked up. Once the battery is built up with tape and its enough for good contact, install battery and *make sure door is closed properly*. In my case the door wasn't closed right and I had to press quite hard to get it to click into place correctly. Probably got damaged because I had opened and closed it so many times that day. You'll know door is closed right if you have unit in your hands with battery installed and red light blinks every 40 seconds or so but WITHOUT the chirp. Then you can connect main power and install. (its criminal the kind of crap manufacturers get away with these days)
How to modify battery so it makes good contact inside the alarm. This of course added to making sure battery is good, alarm is clean (best to blow out with compressed air), and reset procedures have been done.
