100% of the time the reason why you got brake noise is because when installing the new parts they need to be greased. Any moving part that’s not greased will make noise. It’s important to get good quality brake grease and grease up any part that moves

@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 4 года назад
Sounds like it could be more of a wheel bearing/hub issue or maybe a brake caliper thats sticking..does u notice any noise when turning to a certain side? Does it brake evenly or pull to the side?
@bedandbreakfastfan7088
@bedandbreakfastfan7088 4 года назад
@@backyardchevy328 It seems to break evenly at this point, but when i start rolling from a full stop or if i turn my wheels right after a stop I do hear a small click or pop for that initial second. I'm hoping its a lubrication issue.
@backyardchevy328

@@bedandbreakfastfan7088 yea it could be ur brake pad kinda sticking to the brake hardware, i would check ur brake pads to see if they need replacing..if not id clean the hardware and lubricate the brake pads so they travel smoothly and so caliper functions smoothly too..hopefully that helps it out.

Hello I have new rotor and brake pads. i am getting a high pitch noise on the front right side only. And everything is lubed up and cleaned it before. I got rotors resurfaced and it went away for a good week and now its back again. It happens when i am about to push the brakes fully and stop completely, you hear a high pitch noise not for long but its annoying. cant figure it out.
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 2 года назад
Normally a high pitch noise is from vibration of metal to metal or something metal rubbing against rotor..i would check to make sure the brake retainers on the caliper bracket arent moving with the brake pads and rubbing against rotor...or if it did go away for a while when u resurfaced rotor, it could be the surface of the rotor is becoming glazed due to heat or brake pad contamination

@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 2 года назад
Well normally putting bigger wheels require more braking effort to stop. So the brakes may get hotter than normal and that heat may cause glazing on the rotor..but i would try lubricating the contact points on the brake pads and hardware

it could be a wheel bearing, but i would check to make sure backing plate isnt rubbing..the hardware u can lubricate that and the guide pins to make sure they're not sticking..and one ive sometimes seen cause that is if the hardware is rubbing against the rotor in any way...if all that checks out fine..it could be the wheel bearing/hub

@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 3 года назад
Well the squealing noise can be either the rotor is glazed so ur brake pads are not griping as good so theyre sliding over the surface so u get get squeal..or could also be lack of lubrication on the contact points..so the vibration from brake pad to bracket or caliper can be causing squeal...and the thumps could be if u have drum brakes in the back..they might be sticking so u get the thump as u accelerate once it lets go
@mauricedavis1740
@mauricedavis1740 2 года назад
what about squeaking on left turns only..? two different shops told me it was the metal clip scraping off my rotor, are you familiar with that..? Both shops said they pulled the clip back in it’s place but it’s still squeaking when I turn left…
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 2 года назад
Well on turns it shouldnt affect the brakes since the wheel should hold the rotor even...what could be causing that is a bad wheel bearing/hub..have they checked those for play?

This is the best brake video I have seen . Most informative . I've got a screeching noise and after front brake pad and caliper replacement , the screeching noise is still there . I was told it was either the strut mounts and or the rear brake pads . Now I'm wondering if brake pad lubricant was used when replacing the front pads and calipers . When you moved the car back and forth , it's the same exact sound I still am hearing . I dont think it's the strut mounts making that screechy noise . A strut mount is more like a thumping noise , would you agree sir ? Have you ever heard a strut mount make a screeching noise ? I've already ordered the strut mounts , so they will be put on , but I'm just wondering . I also replaced the sway link bushings , so I know it's not that making the screeching noise . Although this has been extremely frustrating, I have learned alot . It's like a puzzle and I've almost got all the missing pieces put together . I tend to think the screeching noise is coming from the rear brake pads . I told this person to put the rear pads on first to see if that doesn't stop the noise . This person is not the brightest bulb in the box , so to speak , but he does have alot of experience working on cars . He has fixed my car several times before this and has done a good job. But for some reason we're having a hard time fixing the loud screeching noise . I think its rear pads because when I step on the brakes the screeching stops . I apologize for such a lengthy comment . Thankyou for your time . 🚗
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 3 года назад
Thank you🙂 if its a constant screeching itll probably be something rubbing..if done after brake job..ive had to repair some that were..1)backing plate rubbing...2)the hardware was bent abnormally so it would rub against rotor the whole time...3)no brake lubricant so it would vibrate and cause screeching noise also but that was more only during braking..strut mounts yea would be more of a thud or grinding as u turn..but those u could kinda check with car standing still bouncing it up and down..and turning steering wheel while parked(but u say its in rear so cant really check it that way on rear)...could be a squeaky bushing but yea ud also be able to bounce that while parked and hear it..so based on what u mentioned im leaning towards something rubbing on rotor

What i would do is have someone outside the vehicle just listen to each wheel as u brake near em..to try and pinpoint if a specific wheel doing it..grinding could be the backing plate rubbing against rotor..they bend easy so it could easily happen...could be ur brake hardware rubbing aswell usually that middle part that goes across caliper bracket that goes over rotor..maybe even if u got new wheels or something..just look for any sign of brake caliper rubbing against the wheel or tire rubbing on something..a whirring sound yea normally is related to a bad wheel hub/bearing..normally get louder as u speed up and on turns when more pressure is put on the bearings.

@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 2 года назад
Normally a high pitch squeal during light braking is caused by metal to metal vibration...if they didnt lubricate the contact points when u go to press the brakes lightly the brake pads kinda vibrate on the brake caliper bracket retainer causing a high pitch squeal..so pressing the brake hard doesnt give it any room for movement to vibrate so the noise goes away

Well if the rotors and brakes look fine its normally due to metal to metal vibration so yea youll wanna clean the brakes, caliper and bracket..then lubricate the brake pad edges that sit against the brake pad retainers..the back of the brake pads where the caliper piston and caliper fingers grab against...i got brake pad replacement videos that show where to lubricate em, might be more helpful

I almost fucked up how you talk at the beginning
@Layarion
@Layarion 4 года назад
your voice is pretty hard to understand, too much bass in it or something...very muddy, vibraty. Strongly suggest trying to reduce echo in room (like, make sure the mic isn't near any surface like the monitor, or too close to the desk surface, near a wall) and I also suggest thinking about the Proximity Effect. (The PE means more base as you get close to the mic - try moving your mouth maybe 1 inch further away than usual...though this is only true for Cardiod mics...which is one of the most common types.) Moving that inch back should reduce the boom in your voice that I think is making you harder to understand. Oh and audio is only coming out of my left earcup, so always render a small section of your video before doing the whole video to ensure your settings are correct. Having a small sample render saves you time this way, helps you catch things. Even on mono microphones you should have audio coming through both earcups. So you made some sort of mistake there. Otherwise, I've been watching your vids, getting ready to change my breaks with 0 car knowledge or previous experience, and the extra tids bits you include are gold, as well as showing bad and good comparisons. Suggest going to 4k if you want to get more visual pop from these (tip: even if it's 1080p source video, YT does less compression on 2k and 4k videos...even if it's a 1080p video rendered to 4k - which is also called upscaling) Great videos, work on the clarity of your voice though.
