Rusting hooks can be an impair your fishing but also be a burden on your wallet! With a bit of patience and some extra care you can greatly extend the lifespan of your hooks by reducing rust.
Rust is the oxidation of the steel which inevitably breaks down the structure of the hook. This is caused when the steel is in the presence of water, and catalysed by an electrolyte. In most cases the electrolyte is the salt from salt water fishing.
