What I love the most about this video was she literally didn't say anything before starting the video. She just got to the point right away. Wish more people did this :)
Gabrielle Hiller I was surprised but I appreciate the no bull-sh!the attitude. everyone always spends 5 minutes "catching up" before the actual tutorial.
The tips in this video are for all skin types!! So this will work on oily, combination & dry skin!! It will also keep your foundation in place for 12+ hours!! Sorry there is no intro in this video - technology may have won the battle this time but I will coming back swinging haha :P Love you guys!! xx
Hello Nikkia love your videos I would love if you could advise on flash back on photos. I find when I use setting powders on my foundation I can't avoid looking like a white ghost in pictures. Please help!!
Naezbless1 The powder she used doesn't create any flashback at all and the best part is that big container is only & 10-$12 on Beautylish.com. You use so little it will last you forever. I won't use anything else. It also doesn't make your face look powdery in person either.
nooooo it doesn't get Caley at all. apply it with a damp beauty blender. trust me. I used Kat von d!! I have two videos where I tried it ... you tell me!!
Haha it doesn't have to be exactly an hour - just try to do your skincare immediately when you get up - then do the other stuff (breakfast, hair, get dressed, eyeshadow etc) and then apply your foundation and cheek products last! This will give your skincare the maximum amount of time to absorb :) xx
As soon as I get out of the shower I apply my face oil, then I brush my teeth. After that, I put on my primer, then I pick my clothes for the day, mess with my hair and get something to drink. Then I do my makeup: concealer on discolorations and nose, then setting powder, lip moisturizer, foundation, highlight and contour, eye primer, blush, set highlight and contour, eyeshadow(s), powder, setting powder, rose water, highlighter/illuminator, setting spray. That way each area has a little bit of extra time to dry and settle before I put down the next step because I don’t have time to wait when I get ready in the morning. Priorities in order - sleep, shower, makeup, breakfast. Breakfast almost never happens. 😂 yay for snacks at work!
If I still have time after my “necessary” makeup, I do lip gloss, liner, setting powder on liner, lipstick, eyeliner, setting spray to whole face (again) and mascara. If no one else is in the elevator on the way up to work I’ll spray my face with a bit more setting spray on my way to the office (about as far as I can do without my glasses on) I need my makeup to stay put and I’m also oily and prone to sweating! Maybe a little of my OCD is in that routine but it works out for me. 😁
If I have on makeup and my nose starts running, I put some tissue/toilet paper on a q-tip and use that to clear up my nose so it doesn't touch all over my makeup
So good to find a RU-vidr with oily skin I have really bad oily skin and ever since I've started watching you my makeup lasts the whole day without coming off ! Thank you ❤❤
Your foundation tricks have seriously upped my makeup game! My face is no longer cakey or dry because I'm not rubbing foundation on it. I love your technique! I am also properly moisturizing my oily face, which is in turn making it less oily and I am no longer fighting a slick face at the end of the day. Thank you sooo much!
Hello from Ohio, USA. Just wanted to say hi & let you know how happy it makes me to be notified of your videos! You really help a lot of us with our makeup & skin, great product review, very honest & helpful, thanks again for all you do, I really appreciate it! Have a wonderful day, hugs!!!
Omg ever since I set my face with a beauty blender instead of a brush my face stay matte all day thank you for this trick I Lear this trick from you ☺️☺️☺️n I also put setting spray before and after I love it
Since watching your videos, my oily skin is no longer a problem under my makeup! Love using my paintpot under foundation 😍 .. us oily UK girls love you!
Yes!! I have been using my paint pot from MAC in soft ochre on blemishes that are red or dark spots for years! I thought I wasn't supposed to bc it's drying and obviously, it's for eyes but it works and it STAYS PUT! AWESOME that another RU-vidr figured out how to use it in a similar way as well. Now that I know nikkia uses it that way too I don't feel so dumb putting it on as a concealer almost. Bc she has THEE BEST TIPS ON ALL OF RU-vid FOR OILY SKIN GIRLS!! And not ONE of the best, I mean THEE best! I love her, she is one of the few that hasn't turned into a narcissist and stuck on herself. Still puts out great quality videos and doesn't involve herself in the drama and gossip like some other bigger RU-vidrs. That's like finding a diamond in the ruff on here! Thank you Nikkia, for staying the same as you were in the beginning. More and more subscribers are looking to watch smaller channels or channels that are big but are truthful and not sell outs only producing one video a week that is heavily influenced by shady companies sponsorships and affiliate codes and dishonest reviews. It means alot to have channels like yours, your a breath of fresh air on RU-vid for the beauty community!
Thank you so much!! It's honestly so nice to hear that! I absolutely adore my RU-vid family. I feel like we are all a big group of girlfriends that love to talk about makeup and it's my favourite thing to just sit on here and hang out and talk with you guys! We will be #oilyskinsisters for life!!!!! And we will win the battle against oily skin!!💪🏼So much love to you😍😍😍
it will be awesome that you show us thru out the day so we can actually see the results you swear by and that we are so excited to try!!! i hear girls all the time than they are oily and when see their face i cant resist to tell them that my face is wayyyyyy oiler than theirs and im really paying attention to your advise for the sake of a dream matt makeup!! 😂
I am 34 years old and I just now am feeling I’m getting good w foundation and I think ur videos have a lot to do with it with my combo-oily skin. Thanks!!
I started watching you videos a few month ago and you have helped me so much. I have very oliy skin and nothing would last on me. I had tried millions of products untill i found your channel. your videos have really helped me well helped me keep my make up in place all day. so a big thank you to you and all your tips
It's funny that you mentioned using a beauty blender vs. a brush to apply powder to set the foundation because I was thinking about doing the exact same thing today as I was doing my makeup. I can't wait to try the tips u learned about in this video!
That's the same thing my neice told me this weekend, said to do my eyes then do the rest of my makeup. I've just been use to doing the opposite, never too old to change a habit. I guess that's why my sunscreen was balling up, wasn't giving it time to set. She told me to wait at least 15 minutes then apply my primer and makeup. So far so good. Just ordered that makeup in your color, got to try it.
I've had really dry skin my entire life, and now I'm 20 and my skins all of a sudden turned oily so everything I've ever learned that works for me, no longer works for me lol. You're a life saver!
this really is a great helpful video, thank you! if you could make suggestions on any other products that would also work well it would be soooo appreciated, particularly the MAC paintpot?
I can´t thank you enough! I used to think I was bad at doing my makeup and it turns out I have oily skin and was not using the right type! Can you perhaps show one day your makeup removing routine?
wow your looks beautiful it looks like skin , is it like that in person also? I tend to use too much foundation and its very aging ...I gotta stip doing this!!!
EVERY time I use a damp beauty blender to apply my powder it looks HORRIBLE! Either it looks like actual patches of powders laying on my skin or it will look like a lace-like mask. Does anyone else experience that? it doesn't matter the foundation, primer, powder etc. Every single time I've tried (which is a lot!) it looks so bad. Great video though, I'm all about making that makeup last!😊
Megan Eastin Hi Megan similar thing happened to me a while back , but it was because my beauty blender was way to damp were it made the powder cakey. Just make sure you squeeze all the water out (:
Same here, I live in Florida so I feel like it could be the humidity combined with air conditioner but not sure. I've even tried using fix plus, no escape from the lace mask lol
Kiwi I find that if I wait more than 15-20 minutes after my morning moisturizing routine to apply my makeup, my skin has already become oily so I put my makeup on straight away. Plus, like you, I don't want to get up earlier than I have to.
i usually do my skincare routine, then have breakfast, then do my makeup. that gives it at least 10-15 minutes and i find that perfect because, as tiffany here already mentioned, any longer and my combo skin gets oily in the t-zone.
Yes your videos are very helpful. I recently started showing my skin (finally lol) some TLC. I have extremely oily skin like you wouldn't believe but since I've started taking in all your advice and pointers it has done wonders to my skin! And it's only been a few days. Ugh don't get me started on the pores! But they too have minimized just by having clean skin :)
I love washing, cleansing, toning my skin, then taking a half hour to drink tea and eat breakfast, then go back and do my makeup :) also, try and give your primer a few minutes to settle as well! I find that helps
Nikkia!!!!! Do you know how happy I was to see this video. I texted my husband like a little girl lol lol he is my #1 beauty supporter. So he knows my struggles and loves to watch me as a play with different looks and stepping out of my comfort zone. But it's so hard when you can't even wear foundation. But you know what I'm doing tmrw!!!!! I'll be sure to send you pics to let you know how it goes. Thank you soooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!! Your forever grateful US fan lol lol xoxoxoxoxo
As an EverydayGlamGoddess i appreciate all your useful tips and tricks because THEY ACTUALLY WORK❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ . The time and experience you put into your videos is invaluable to us #Oily Skin Sisters😘 . THANK YOU THANK YOU
I've tried the sandwich method on a couple of occasion but it dries my skin so bad, I can't do it for 2 days in a row, even thought I have a pretty décent skincare routine. I also use my eyeprimer for concealer and it does work!
Do you have a good hydrating skincare routine? Try adding an oil at nighttime (I really love rose hip oil!) it will hydrate your skin really well and should prevent it drying out😍
Ok this actually helped me and just boosted my makeup. Thank you! About to head to one of the most important interviews I have ever done. Wish me luck! 🍀🙏💜
i love your videos! i will have to find a dupe for the mac paint pots since they're not cruelty free. :( any luck finding something similar to the paint pot from a company who doesn't test on animals?
Awesome! Same here, I used to love mac but then found out they test on animals AND they are expensive lol a lot of great new brands are much cheaper now.
Unfortunately I wear makeup in real life and not just for videos or "events" so I can't wait an hour after applying moisturizer to do my makeup. I wash my face, moisturizer then hurry and get ready
Hi Katy! I also wear makeup in real life and in my job as a Nurse/Paramedic - so I totally understand what its like to be under the pump! What does work is shower or wash your face as soon as you get up and apply your skin care straight away. Then do everything else (get dressed, do your hair, have breakfast, brush teeth, pack work bag etc) and THEN apply your makeup right before you leave. It will ensure your skin care has the maximum chance to absorb into the skin :)
When I tell you I have very very oily skin and my makeup wipes off easily, this video has helped me, I tried these tips for 3 days straight and it works!! Thank You!!!!
Also I've noticed that when I set my under eyes and face with powder using a damp beauty blender, it can look patchy and like the product just totally disappeared and it's super annoying. It's so hard to have a flawless face when I do my makeup.
beautybyashxox do you bake or just set it? I noticed if I bake too long it'll settle & look patchy too. If you don't bake, maybe use less product on your sponge
Wayne Goss did a video where he sprayed setting spray onto his beauty blender before blending out each layer of foundation/concealer. Would you recommend this?
I'm an oily/sensitive skin type and since sticking to the most basic skincare routine I don't even get break outs anymore and my skin isn't as red and oily. I find that the less products I use the better my skin is. I also stopped using the Smashbox primer and it's made a big difference. All I do is bake my oily areas and set my makeup with the Laura Mercier powder and this is all I need to do to stay matte for longer. In the summer I use the skindinavia spray for extra longevity. Not forgetting your Mac paint pot technique which has helped so much Nikkia! x
Haide da chetem I'm not sure about them clogging pores, but I do know that they are very high in alcohol, so I only use them on special occasions as even though I have oily skin, the alcohol dries my skin out and then I get even more oily.
kylieD Thanks for the reply. If you don't mind me asking, how about blotting papers during the day? I find those absolutely tiny and using only 2-3 is not enough for me.
Haide da chetem Sorry, just retread your comment (I have a 2 yr old & 4yr old both talking at me too...) They actually work really well for me, I just use them down the centre of my face and find that's enough to mop up the excess oil on my face... Not sure how old you are, but I'm 39 and have found my skin is much less oily than it was even in my early 30's... still oily though 🙄I don't have as many wrinkles/fine lines as many of my friends though...
I have two kids, and one of them is a toddler I work 7:30 to 6 Monday thru thurs and I wake up at 515 to do my skin care routine and get ready in peace, that to me is my time to just relax and do my skin stuff, skin care to me is crucial
I recently saw a dermatologist who literally changed my skin but also gave me good advice about makeup ahaha. While it's obviously good to have tips like this it's also good to use blotting sheets and a powder to touch up in the day. I know this sounds like common sense but a lot people think that makeup should (or lasts on everyone else) for 15+ hours and it shouldnt!(unless you are very dry) I was someone who never ever touched up my makeup but now I do it I feel like I'm enjoying more products :)
omg I can't thank you enough!! I'm so excited to try this I have been struggling non stop with makeup coming off around my mouth. I've tried everything! I'm so excited to test this out. thank you!!!! your videos are the best
dancegurl5501 I also use RCMA, but I put it on with a brush in a stippling motion. If I use a beauty blender under my eyes, I look a million years older lol
IrishKatieKatz try the Too Faced Hangover primer. It has coconut water it's very hydrating and will give u that barrier between ur skin and the foundation. u should give it a try :)
IrishKatieKatz I'm the same way. Dry af skin. I use two different moisturizers, and 3-4 primers. I also wait 10 minutes between each layer. So far with the millions of products I have been having less of the rubbing, absorbing foundation.
IrishKatieKatz so I use the Clinique moisturizer , mark Jacobs perfecting coconut face primer, too faced primed and poreless, and lastly the porefessional from benefit. I don't set my face with powder (or rarely with mac mineralized skin finish and I try to do a very light layer of the full coverage urban decay all nighter foundation. Hope this helps! I have very very dry skin and my makeup would be patchy and just come off no matter what but this combo has been working really well lately
shaunda H she actually has a video just like this one but using drugstore products! I would suggest looking through her videos I think it's called "how to keep your foundation from getting oily" I'll see if I can find a link
Omg Nikkia this is what I needed I notice some foundations do not last a long time. I don't have time to wait an hour for my skin care to settle down before going work any recommendations like using certain products that are fast drying or just continue with our recommendations like setting spray, and primer 😘thank you
Try doing your skincare straight after your shower or as soon as you get up in the morning! Then do the other stuff - breakfast, get dressed, do your hair etc and then do your makeup as the last part of your morning routine! This will at least give your skincare the maximum amount of time to absorb :) xx
Megan Hofland I'm not a nurse but I respect your work! Patient and hardworking. Nurses always know how to make you feel at ease. Than you for all you do 😊
This may sound unrelated... but what kind of lighting do you use? Your videos always looks so bright & clear! I could do with something like this for actually applying my makeup lol!
Nj ever since I found your channel and finding out you have oily skin just like me all your tips and tricks have helped me tremendously.....like I use every single one of your tips for oily skin...and it has done wonders for my makeup application...I literally feel you were god sent to me bcuz ever since I found you my makeup has been A-1 better so thank you thank you I appreciate you soooooo much!
