1. Grab a pencil and paper to write a list of qualities and things you WANT in your future husband or wife.
- Then, go through them and see how many your crush is missing.
- Next, realize that during the dating/friend stages, they are on their best behavior. All the habits and unkind action they have will only get worse in long term dating; especially marriage.
2. Cry.
- Releases endorphins.
- Pushing off, shoving down or refusing to break/let go, is just delaying a pain that is coming.
- You’re just finding a fake rest and fake peace.
- AND if you feel any endless sadness, loneliness, anger, depression or hollow relationships.. those are signs of refusing to break.
- Brokenness and pain are a form of healing.
3. Do something!
- Use creative expression (art, music, dance, writing, sports, doodle & poetry)
- Realize you’re not alone, you aren’t the only one who's going through this or something else.
- Go help someone else even in your own brokenness and watch how it heals you.
4. Stop daydreaming about them.
- Don’t continue to imagine fixing thing or memories.
- You can’t change people, no matter how much you want to, or feel your opinion is right.
- Let them go.
- You know what they say, “If you love something let it go, and if it’s meant to be it’ll come back to you.”? (It can’t come back to you, if you never let it go to begin with.)
5. Ask yourself if you’ve subscribed to lies in your life?
- rejection ≠ unworthiness
- performance ≠ worth
- outward appearance ≠ value
- striving ≠ success
Outro: “Instead of giving them a piece of your mind, give them a piece of your heart.”
- What I mean by this is, don’t ignore them. Don’t play silly texting games.
- Be there for them if they need you.
- Be honest, and be real.
- BUT, don’t let them be a place of comfort and safety for you anymore. Don’t let them have a say or give you advice in big life changing things.
- Start growing in who YOU are and not who you are in the other person.
