My Xbox shuts off randomly only when I play a game. I can watch RU-vid or whatever perfectly fine. But when I get on a game after a play for a few minutes it shuts off. Please help before I end it all.

My problem was house voltage fluctuations. Tried a large cooling fan, cleaning, resetting, etc and nothing helped. Tried an Xbox from another house that was working and it started turning off. Took both units back to the other house and they worked fine. Tried different outlets, but didn’t help. Checked outlets and noticed slight voltage fluctuations. Installed a voltage regulator and works fine now. Note that other electronics (PS4, TVs, Wii, etc) all work fine. Apparently Xbox power supply is just more sensitive than some other electronics.

There are many types of voltage regulators, but I went with a full Audio/video voltage regulator/conditioner. It just plugs into the wall and has AC outlets to plug in the Xbox. The one I purchased also had a built in battery so it works as an UPS too. Still working great.

1. Took case off and cleaned out all dust 2. Blew out connectors 3. Gave it a dedicated solo wall socket 4. Gave it its own dedicated space with the closest thing being 10+ inches for the vent 5. Hard reset twice System: barely makes a sound, console doesn't feel hot, power brick doesn't feel hot. Still auto shut down.

My console just stays on for like 20 seconds (doesn't come on screen) and just turns off without me pressing the button. Makes the same noise that it would if you pressed the power button.

If this doesn't work, which in my case it didn't, take the Xbox apart, and disconnect the front faceplate with the power, eject, and sync buttons. The sensors may have dust or debris on it, which might be causing it to turn on and off. If it stays on then you just need a new faceplate, these consoles are old now lol almost 10 years now

Hi, do you how to solve this? When my batteries in my controller die, I switch the batteries but when I go to turn my controller on it won’t reconnect, this means I have hard restart Xbox to work again, this is an inconvenience and would appreciate a response, thanks.

Hi, My xbox one x has the same problem I press the controller on, the xbox turns on for 2 seconds then turns off. I have disconnected the power, waited, the reconnected. with no luck I also tried the eject and bind button thing, that was the same outcome. Xbox help said it will cost me between £50 and several hundred dollars to fix lol. What do you suggest, I'm thinking of opening the console up and looking inside?

Mine randomly turns off when I’m signed In to my Xbox live account + when I’m connected to my WiFi. I’ve hard reset it, taken out the power brick and put it back in, I’ve done a WiFi restart as well. My Xbox doesn’t overheat as I have a fan on it so it doesn’t have issues with temperature or dust. Idk what the issue is It just randomly turns off. I’ll try this and see if it works and I’ll edit this comment and say what happens.

I have an first gen Xbox One console and it plays both original Xbox and 360 games perfectly, no crashes or anything. But the moment I want to play an Xbox One title, it crashes within minutes, either sending me back to the home screen or shutting off completely. I've tried looking for a way to fix this issue but I honestly have no clue how, I e tried hard resets, deleting and reinstalling the game, clearing the cashe, unplugging the power supply, flipping the system onto the other side, but nothing works. Do you have any suggestions on how I can fix this issue? Like I said though, it plays the classics and 360 games great, it's just an issue with actual XB1 games, which I find bafflingly strange since it's designed for those games.

Ours started every few mins would go dark so we checked it out and went to idle options and it was on 10 minutes. There was no option to turn it off so we picked 60 minutes and now it will just shut off in 60 minutes. How can we fix this? Did you clean the xbox thoroughly did you replace thermal paste. The stock thermal paste is garbage id change it even if the xbox is bran new check the fans make sure they slin properly and you can always try to reset your xbox to factory

Go to your local Walmart and look for an air duster can they should have it. use the nozzle that comes with the can and spray the air into the holes of the back of the Xbox and the top

Thanks I was playing shindo life in roblox I was about to defeat the 9 tailed fox but then I spammed x and b and those buttons were very powerfull attack but it took so much light the attacks blinded me but I feel like my xbox cant take those attacks twice because they are so bright so it turns off

Sooo.. Mine was the tip of the ribbon wire.. looks like one of the lanes.. If you can call it that was burned or had some kind of glueish substrate that prevented it from making proper contact with the pc board or button. Either replace ribbon wire or clean the tip properly.

My xbox turns on and off it isn't the power brick or the hdmi because it works on my other xbox but the other xbox has a none working disk drive. The xbox that turns off seems to shut off when ever there is a disk in the console.

Happens to me all the time especially when I play Battlefield that b**tch just turns off right after that freaking sound 2:38 ! aaargggh it drives me crazy! xD . What usually works for me is just shut it off completely, disconnect the console, clean it then wait 1 day maybe 2 or 3...play again and that's it, it last like 2 weeks or so until it starts turning off again lol, hope I helps!
