My silver is in ammo case (air tight) in zip lock bags with silicate gel packs. Then I tie it to a weather ballon and send it above the atmosphere.

I love your attention to detail regarding each type and kind of storage method and showing the littleton book as well! I have a few of those and the information you shared is good to be aware of I appreciate you showing all the options out there also with pros and cons each and mentioning price point roughly for each as well. The next video, I would appreciate seeing “how” you store these options, thoughts on cardboard flips with non PVC?

At the end of the day silver is still silver. Unless there are numismatic value to them. One ounce of silver is still worth one ounce of silver. ugly or pretty. That's just my take on this.

Exactly what I think , I buy my silver cheap , I don't care ugly , pretty , when the time comes a loaf of bread , and a gallon of milk will be worth an oz of silver weight period .

I agree with you 100% a lot of people waste a lot of money on individual capsules, and different kind of holders that you would want for a coin with numismatic value. I buy my tubes in bulk so that way i get the best bang for my buck.

Anytime I have needed to sell to my local dealer they have never had an issue with age spots. I don't understand what the deal is. Stacking them is all that really counts. If you are stacking eagles there is nothing better. Eagles and Maples have been the only coins my local shop will pay a premium over the spot.
@darykinnaman2319
@darykinnaman2319 4 года назад
Exactly. They mint too many of these to have any more than a melt value. I have sold some tarnished ones and the dealer didn't blink an eye.
@AustrianStacker
@AustrianStacker 4 года назад
Rotten3ullet That might be valid for the US but not for other countries. A lot of European LCS and PM dealers pay more for coins in BU condition. If I can get 2-3 Euros more for each coin (40-60 Euros more for a full tube) I have no issue with capsules and keeping my coins safe and dry.

So, toning on silver in a SHTF situation really doesn’t matter. But there is also the possibility you might be transacting with your silver in a normal environment. Planning for that possibility also makes sense, so the info here is great! Thank you sir. I like to keep some constitutional silver, a couple ASEs, and a bar out on my desk so I can touch silver. But the rest I try to store clean and dry. I don’t need to look at all of them if I can hold a few.

Interesting how each year toned differently, despite the same amount of air getting to them. Even though they are all .999, it would appear that the .001 difference indicates slightly different impurities, and therefor different sources for the silver. The one with all of the rainbow hues looked like that .001 was mostly copper.

I keep some bullion in airtight capsules...just to allow me to handle it, show it, etc. The rest goes generic tubes. Already toned and general Constitutional coins go in flips. "Junk" constitutional goes into generic tubes, even AU/BU ones. Probably not an ideal situation, but good enough in my mind for non-graded coins.

Great info video. I hate albums plus it takes up too much space in my safe. It’s just best, I think, to put the first 20 years of the Eagles in a mint tube and the next 20 years in another mint tube. This will save you money and storage space in your safe. Mint tubes can be had on eBay for $3 to $4 each.

Silver bars ?? I seal them, with purchasing invoice, with a "food saver" vacuum packaging. You're good to go from oxidation and scratching with careful handling. I imagine you could "food saver" vacuum pack those silver eagle canisters as well maybe doing 5 canisters of 20's(totaling 100 coins). They won't stack as well but it does solve an issue or tarnishing.

I have 3 sets of AE, 1986 to 2022 in Dansco Albums in fact I had to add a page to each album as the 2021 "New Type" AE filled the last hole. I purchased a used 4 page Dansco album then flipped the page backward so the date don't show, I added one page to each album and then added my 2022's. I keep each album in 2 large zip tight bags. I zip them almost closed, pull a vacuum then zip closed. My sets are not yet doing as you pictured, that's called "album" toning.😀 I have a "date set" of "BU" Morgan silver dollars, a full set (every mint/date) of "BU" Peace silver dollars, Eisenhower's, "Non BU" but close, Walking liberty half's and "BU" Franklin Half's. All in Dansco albums and stored the same as my Eagles, no toning. My tubes of Eagles are taped shut as are my many 1964 Kennedy, walkers, franklin tubes. AS for the air tites, as I call them if you search around on EBAY and buy in quantity you can get them around .30 to .35 cents each. I like them as you can handle the exceptionally nice Morgan's/Eagles/Walkers easily.

I want to chime in here about the Littleton allbum. I have one that specifically says Archival Quality on the front. (It's also a newer edition 1986-2014). Yours doesn't. According to what I've read, the pages are now acid-free. I haven't used this album yet, so I can't vouch for its safety. But it's possible that your album was made with less than archival quality pages, therefore the toning. Just my two cents.

Let me just say this. It is true that silver is silver regardless of the conditions its in; however, two MS silver eagles are priced differently if one is keep in MS condition when the other got toss around and become junk silver. If you buy silver for silver content then stay away from new items because the premium are higher, stick with junk silver and it could never get worse.

0:12. You can't just objectively say that thwy aren't good because that's subjective, and it all depends entirely on how you look at it. You should say: "I think that some ways of storing Silver Eagles are better." But you shouldn't objectively say: "Storing Silver Eagles in some ways is better." Because that's subjective, and entirely depends on hiw you look at it, but feel free to correct me if you believe that i'm wrong or may be wrong, and feel free to try, and prove me wrong if you think that i'm wrong, and if anyone can prove me wrong, And I look forward to being proven wrong if anyone can prove me wrong, And, Regardless, I look forward to hearing y'all veiwpoints, and perspectives on this subject matter.

I'm even more careful. I only pick up a coin from the sides and only with gloves as well. I became that way because I started as a coin collector, not an investor. Perhaps it is strange giving respect to a coin centuries old, even though it has probably been handled countless times.
