Thank you for the good videos. I grew some tiny bulbs from the plants last year for the first time. I was so pleased when they bloomed after spending the winter in my plant room. I can't wait to see how they do after the foliage dies off later. Enjoy!

What is the best time to plant..right now in my region there is a mild frost..can I go ahead and plant now.
@SanaAsGARDEN
@SanaAsGARDEN 3 года назад
Autumn is the best time to plant. however asiatic lilies are very versatile and pretty winter hardy, can be planted in winter up until spring. much them really well after planting to protect from frost, or even better you can place them in a shaded area/pergola or roof or balcony if u have them in containers

Hello, I am planning to remove my bulbs from refrigerator . What is the next step? Should I make it dry up first before planting or plant it straight from ref? Bulbs are a bit hard and wet as I checked.
@SanaAsGARDEN

You can plant them right away. They will be hard naturally.

Which type of soil should I use if I don't have cocopeat.Can I use the mix of cowdung and normal garden soil?
@SanaAsGARDEN
@SanaAsGARDEN 3 года назад
Am afraid cowdung or garden soil will not work the same way. It needs to be something which will keep the bulbs moist enough but not make them soggy and rot. U can try in vermiculite by just sprinkling a little bit of water .

You planted two layers of bulbs ? Wow 😮, is this process first time to you too??
@SanaAsGARDEN
@SanaAsGARDEN 2 года назад
yes I planted them in two layers, as the ttiny ones wouldn’t take much pace or grow too big. i tried this for the first time and it worked great until now
@rosalinesoon3193
@rosalinesoon3193 3 года назад
i noticed you planted the bulbs in layers. Will they be too crowded together.
@SanaAsGARDEN
@SanaAsGARDEN 3 года назад
The bulbs which I planted in bottom layers are about 1cm -3cm or even less. And they will need atleast 3 seasons of growing to reach flowering abilities. As I mentioned in the video this is kind of an experiment for me to see how they perform. I felt like its a space saving way to give the bulbs a full growing season, And they will produce only one or two leaves or a less than 10 cm stems this year. So I am not much bothered by the crowding .

So the winter here can be pretty harsh, with temperatures down to 17 Fahrenheit/ -8 Grad Celsius ist it okay to leave them in the ground outside? I’ve planted them extra deep and the containers are protected in the corners of my entrance, next to the wall, covered with old fir branches from my Christmas tree.. is it okay to leave both outside or should I put the ones even with the special care inside with those temperatures? 😅 Thank you in advance.
@SanaAsGARDEN
@SanaAsGARDEN Год назад
They should be absolutely fine in that temperature. Apparently asiatic lilies are hardy up to -40 degrees. Apologies for the late response. Sometimes the comments don’t show up !

Which month is best to plant asiatic lily
@SanaAsGARDEN

Fall is the best time to plant your lilies. But you will usually find asiatic lilies in garden centres in the late spring or summer. Either Late spring or fall is good for planting

Do we need to dry the bulb in direct sunlight or we just store in freeze just after digging.
@SanaAsGARDEN
@SanaAsGARDEN 2 года назад
there is no need to dry them in sunlight. if they are too soggy, you can let them airdry and store them in FRIDGE . NOT IN FREEZER.

What do we do with the bulblets?
@SanaAsGARDEN
@SanaAsGARDEN 3 года назад
the bulblets will reach the flowering capacity in a couple years(2-3) depending on their size. I have planted every single bulblet I had harvested. you can see it at around the 6:00 mark. the tiny bullets will produce only one or two leaves in their first season and may produce one flower if they are about inch during their second year that's the reason I have layered my tiny bulblets at the bottom .

I am sorry, I have never started lilies from seed, although I can say that growing lilies from seed can take up to 7 years
@foxybuddy
@foxybuddy Год назад
I've just understood the bulbs need to kept in the fridge. we don't have cold winter here, but our winter temperature is between 10-20 degrees Celsius. Do you still suggest 10 weeks in fridge is necessary? Since fridge temperature is around 6 degrees Celsius
@SanaAsGARDEN
@SanaAsGARDEN Год назад
Yes the cold winter period of domancy is the key for the statification of bulb. Exposing bulbs to these cold temperatures stimulates a bio-chemical response that “turns on” flower formation and initiates root growth. I hope that helps.
@foxybuddy
@foxybuddy 20 дней назад
@@SanaAsGARDENthanks for that. For family lily grow, I might just keep a few bulbs, compost the rest. otherwise digging bulbs out and store in fridge every year is a hard work.

I think I have shared this question of Instagram also. But pls advise. Thanks.

That’s alright , It always feels good to answer such questions and gives me reason to study more. If ur bulb is still nice and crisp , Its definitely in a great condition. Don’t worry if u didn’t get flowers this time. Just treat them as if they had stems and flowers. Once all ur other plants are ready to be dug and divide, then u can do the same with these. If u get warm winters, store them in fridge for some weeks and then replant in spring.
