Boat batteries are not cheap and they can last up to 5+ years if you take care of them properly. Maintaining them properly during the season is important. How you store your boat battery for winter is even more critical. In this video, we cover:

After I winterize completley, and before the boat is wrapped, my battery comes out and onto a trickle charger in the garage. Works like a charm every year. Another great vid. 🇨🇦👍🏼

My boat sits under its storage cover during the winter, so the batteries are hard to access. Boat sits in front of the cottage , Chaparral jet boat. I disconnect the batteries in the fall, but leave them in the boat, made a couple of charging harnesses with alligator clips clipped on the batteries and the ends hanging over the sides of the boat, one on port and one on starboard, mark the positive and negative with colored tape and leave the ends with uneven length so thy cannot shorten out. Use electrical tape to tape the harnesses to the grab handles so they stay in place, solder an eyelet to each end so all I do two or three times during winter is run an extension cord from the cottage and give both batteries a good charge and they're good to go in the spring.

Turn my battery switch off in the fall and top up charge before launch in the spring. Had first boat 6 years, second boat 5 years, so far third boat 4 years. No battery issues yet.
