Hey! If you choose Game Capture and select Remote app, it only captures the video, which saves you from cropping. Thanks for the tutorial!

If using an A6000, what are my option for a microphone? Plug a microphone in to the PC and use that as the audio out? If this something you can configure with OBS? Thanks for this video.

Even I have a6000. This cam doesn’t support live view so this method will not work. I tried with my cam. Please let me know if you figure out a way to do it.

I tried to find it online but nothing answered my question. Does the Sony NEX-5 have this option? Unfortunately when I open the USB Connection it says PTP and Mass Storage, is that enought to tell it doesnt work or I can make it work somehow?

I have an old Sony Nex 5N and it does not have the setting to change to usb PC explicitly so it is not recognized by Remote. When I change it to MTP it recognized the camera, but said it could not connect unless it was USB PC set! Any ideas?

What‘s the difference of this version and using the Elgato Camlink?

I know this is a bit late, but the main difference that I'm seeing is that this will only work for a window capture software, so applications like Google meet, Skype, bluejeans, etc.. Won't automatically pick it up as a Webcam, which the cam link does. Not sure if there is a latecy difference, but the cam link is instant like a webcam would be so it's essentially plug and play with no added delay in your streaming software.

Hey big thanks for the Sony webcam tip. Only problem, is that in OBS Window Capture mode is lagging a lot (although in Remote it moves fine). Does smb know how to make the video (in window capture) more smoother in OBS? Audio is fine also. Thanks!

Jack, I have a Panasonic VDR D200 Camera and when I plug it into my PC it tells me to go to playback mode. When I do that the camera Stays on but the display turns off and I can't bring the screen back unless I plug it out. Fix?

Yeah it does. Once you have the program it mimicks it as if the capture card is there.

I'm pretty sure it's user error but for me, the window in OBS flashes and the voice is out of sync with the video. I removed the camera out of auto focus but it didn't make a difference. And this is what I found from Sony: "We have confirmed that some functions cannot be used when using this app on a PC upgraded to macOS 10.15. We are currently reviewing the situation to come up with a solution." I'm assuming this is the culprit.

You usually will need a adapter called a mini HDMI to go on the end so it will go in your camera

This method does not work for sony cameras created prior to 2012 the "PC Remote" option isn't available.

I have a Sony Cybershot. It doesn’t have the Remote View. Jack Cole is using a Sony which looks more up-market and does have the PC Remote setting. This looks a real bummer for me. If anyone has a get-around - let us know!
